An Anniversary Butterfly Pop out 'Box' Card...

Happy Belated Anniversary to sis in law and Bro-in law. I made this Butterfly box card, using mostly, different shades of purple card.

I followed the Tutorial from Sam Calcott on YouTube, but it went a little bit wrong. Some of the die-cuts wouldn't cut, even after going through my new BigShot three or four times. In the end I snipped them with my scissors and they didn't turn out too bad. Debs took these pictures as I'd forgotten to. The front of the card, the very top picture, the butterfly is in silver miri and the rest are in Crafter's Companion Centural Pearl, Snow White, Hint of Gold. 310gsm.

The box card should close flat, so that all the butterflies fold in together, but I couldn't get the butterfly bodys to fold in the middle, so I ended up adding another butterfly to make the circle complete and just hand delivered it! The butterfly's body part  was actually a pretty purple multi-mirri patterned perfume box,  (Versage woman Eau de Perfum Natural spray- not mine! I found it in someones recycle bin one Christmas! years back-too nice to throw away) so it was probably a little too thick to fold over. The last butterfly provides a space to write your sentiment on the back of its wing.
I've just finished or nearly finished another butterfly card using the same die-set, which makes a gatefold card.
Butterfly Trails, Card Making Magic by Christina Griffiths. I'll show you that later. Click on Sam's link above to show you how the card should've looked like!  Or Here to see it on her blog. That's it for now. Thank you for stopping by!

Back 2 Skool!

I don't really need a 'back to school card', but I thought I'd make one anyway (just in case!) using my latest digi. Found HERE in my store. I once made a card for Oscar, Tom's (son-in-law) little 'nephew', only trouble with that digi was, hubby, who quickly became an expert on copy-writes and other digi artists, wouldn't let me put it in my digi store! (meanie) as he thought it was too much like another well known hedgie, so this year, I did a Mole, can't go wrong with a mole! Here's one of my Back to School hedgehogs on an ATC from last year Here what do you think?(Nah! It's nothing like it, is it!)
Anyway here he is, Digger the Mole, looking all Moley and off to school... Hopefully they'll soon teach him to spell and not make mole hills in the lawn!
Coloured with Promarkers. The brads are soft plastic. There's an Apple, a pencil, an A+, a star and there's also a little yellow school house and a yellow school bus, just like they have over in the USA (but not here in England)
The black and white backing blackboard type paper is a freebie, it's called back 2 school and you can download it HERE. Scroll down to the bottom of the sites page. There's loads of other things, so you'll want to book mark this site if you haven't already!
The light numbered papers (designed by Hot Off The press) was a freebie from Craft's Beautiful Magazine way back in 2007! Yes, I've found them for you HERE. Because it's wwwaay back there are no pictures and you will have to login/register so I would paste and copy the page first, which is...
http://www.crafts-beautiful.com/index.php/download/pattern_pack_backing_papers_crafts_aug07/
then login and then paste in the above address, otherwise you'll never find it! I don't think the paper is as large as they were in the mag, but you will get some templates too, which might be useful! Or, in the meantime CardMaking & PaperCraft Magazine have some fabulous pink banner papers HERE called Happy Days! I haven't used mine yet.
The sentiment I did on the computer using a black background and white writing and cut out with Nestabilities.
The font is a freebie I've used before, but if you missed it you can download Billy Bear's Crayons HERE where you'll find loads of kiddie type fonts to download!
I 3D-ed Digger The Mole to make him 'pop' a bit and added Glossy Accents to his glasses, so they shine! I also used my new thin ProMarker nibs to colour them! He'll be in my Digi Store very soon! 99p (quick plug there!)
New Followers: Hi and a big ((wave!!) to LauraB, who's a Crafty Little Woman fab blog with journals and other things, pop over and say hi! and Chris with no link and out the back and in the dark Lynn b! But I think this might be you, My cards n stuff ! Lovely blog! Now, I did type this out last week, so I hope all my challenges are still open! Thank you for popping by!

Another Quirky Recipe!

Quirky Craft's Challenge has started over on the challenge blog. This fortnight's Challenge is a recipe set by Anne better known as Chocolate Fudge Cake...(ohooo now I'm hungry, I really fancy a Nutella sandwich...and seeing I'm typing this at 1.30 in the morning there's no chance of that!!) right..the challenge is for you to make something crafty, (of course) it can be anything, so long as you follow the recipe, it's okay to add a few more things if you like, (old tyres and hobnailed boots, might not be such a good idea though, keep it simple!)
Recipe
Two different types of gold (ie paper, card, embellishments, ribbon etc)
One patterned paper
One length of ribbon
One stamped image
Colour scheme red and gold

For my Card I've chosen a Forever Friends stamped image, which I received in a swap last year, (coloured with ProMarkers of course!) some Forever Friends paper from their A5 pack, 'Santa's On His Way'. Some gold miri board that has been embossed, a patterned gold card for the base and some gold cord (can't really see it) and a red sentiment ribbon from my stash (which I received from a crafty FaceBook swap some years ago) I've also added red and gold brads and some fern leaves cut from my MS punch and finished off with Stickles Glitter.
That's it! Pop over to see who our favourite was for the last challenge and the lovely project made by our guest designer, Joanna, then come and join in...I'll be back later to fill in a few more things that I've forgotten and add some challenges too! BFN!!

It's A Guy Thing, Brother!

Thought I'd make a Guy card after all the girlie cards I made over the weekend! This is Mr Fix it, he's in my Didi Digi store coz he's mine! Not so cute. In fact, I probably wouldn't want to meet a giant rabbit in a dark alley carrying that spanner or the hammer!!
I've mainly done this card because of an email I had over the weekend, to do a male card and use the colours seen...to add the code I've been given and then well, just see what happens I guess! The brads are all from Woodware, screws, hammer, spanner, saw, scissors and the 'Brothers' cider tops are from Brother's Drinks, and seeing I know one of the four brother's family very well, I kind of have a few of their bottle tops!! (Cider's pretty good too!) Have you seen their TV ad?? Here tis.
I've coloured Mr Fix It with Promakers and also done a bit of dry embossing, tearing and inking. He also comes without the 'Mr Fix It ' on his pocket, just so he can be flipped (other wise it would read backwards wouldn't it!) Okay....let's press the button and see what happens...probably blow my computer up! Did you see the end of Lost?? Was it really rubbish?? (Linxwithin Challenge details have now been removed)

OSAAT's 'NEW' Challenge!

One Stitch at a Time's New Challenge starts over on the Challenge blog any second now. Pop over to find out who won and who your top three were for last weeks, Fury Friends Challenge. Did you guess this weeks new challenge? It was quite a good clue I gave you! This weeks New Challenge over on One Stitch At A Time is...
To use something new!!!
And for those of you who didn't see me buying them (a few posts down)... my new crafty item I used in the making of this card (besides the lovely fairy image) was... My New Promakers! I was such a happy bunny, seeing them for only £4.74 that I bought six packets! I now have loads more new colours. So Me and John will be living on Beans on Toast for the next week! (Only kidding....just beans!)
The lovely fairy image you all must have seen, can be found over in the Stitchy Bear Store. She's one of the Flower Fairies this one's by Stitchy and is called Butterfly Love There's another one called Flower Fairy by Lil Diva Stamps.
I've used my Promakers to colour her, Micro Glitter on her wings and bodice and a dash of a white gel pen. The flower is from Cardmaker's and Papercraft 'Reader's Page' winnings (yay!!)
I've also used a cuttlebug embossing folder through my Big Shot, and also a large scalloped circle from Nestabilities. The Butterflies are Tim Coffey, K & Company, embossed Stickers (slightly talced so they don't stick all the way down) The paper is a scrap booking sheet cut to fit a (new, bought it yesterday!) textured linen effect dark blue card and folded back (I was going to cut half way around the circle but my craft knife is a bit iffy, and I just know it would tear the paper through such thick card, so my tip is always use a sharp craft knife!!) I'll find out the name of the papers and add it later. The font is a freebie. It's called Frosty, you may already have it but if not, you can download it for free HERE (It has tiny snow flakes on it, but they were too small to see.)So?? What are you all wanting for? Pop over and see what all the over DT members have made and then, I just KNOW you all have something new you're dying to use!!! So, go get crafting!! Don't forget, anything goes, as long as it's new!! (No. New under wear does not count!) Thank you for stopping by.

Sundae On Tuesday

Hello peoples! It's been a really lovely day today! (shhh! Don't tempt fate!) Here's today's card and as you can see I'm still on my quest to use up all my printed papers, mainly because my printer has gone on strike. It has ink but does not want to use it. Bit like - horse to water- can't make it drink, but they do like to swim! (another story, which I reminisced with the man in the pet shop the other day... me, wearing nothing more than a very skimpy pair of cut down jeans, bikini top...horse...sea and sand. I'm beginning to think I dreamt it all now)
Back to the job in hand, (which in my case, is a Harry Potter mouse, with red flashing scar light!) One card quickly made for a forum birthday! (Not too late this time) I found the insert first, which I have already used on another card ages ago ... I make them, and then scan them in so when I'm in a hurry all I have to do is print them out... but... yes... the darn printer!!! This is the original insert, as I must've used the scanned one last time. The green leaves are cut from this paper felt stuff. Have no idea what it's called. It's soft like felt but it tears like paper, left over from my Play School days.
And...suddenly I realise something...what??? Oh Poo!! Ummm.... I've posted this card off... with a few stamped images... with no hand made by Lyn on the back, no little Loony Lyn cartoon, no email... and wait for it.... UNSIGNED!! Oh! Poo!! Oh well, too late now! So if you get this card... it's from me!!
I'm sorry the card is a bit sparse, as I only had printed the Ice Cream Sundaes and the insert and one tiny bit of backing paper, which nearly fitted the front of the card, but not quite... Papers and the Ice Cream Sundeas, for those of you who don't recognise them and haven't seem them before, because they've been very quiet lately but now they're back, Tinker & Co and you can download them from HERE free!! Yes...Free... and HERE (that woke you up didn't it!) Hunt out their new web site store and their blog for other freebies too!
That's it for now...tomorrow it's What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday. I'll be at work so my post will be on timer. Also look out for two freebie didi digi's from me tomorrow...one on Wednesday's post and there'll be another freebie 'hiding' in my didi digi shop Spyder's Other Corner! Thanks for stopping by!!

Friday! And Wedding Cards!

It's a bit scary opening a magazine and seeing people in there you've 'met' on forums or blogs. It's even scarier when one of those pictures is you! There we all are in black and white and colour! Of course Cazzy wore her hat, wish I'd worn mine now! (what's she on about??) I'm I allowed to say? Should I? I've never blogged about it...Oh, go on then!
Turn to page 78 of Card Making and Paper Craft June Issue 79 and to quote...'meet the cardmakers who, between them have created over 1000 pieces of wedding stationary'...and I'll say no more (you fibber!!)

When Tom and Emma first decided on a date for their wedding, (October 11th 2008) everyone was thrilled and wanted to be involved. All Emma’s friends decided they would decorate the Hall for the reception, a friend of Tom’s mum made the fabulous Chocolate wedding cake, Emma’s Nan said she would do the bouquets and buttons holes, with help from her flower club ladies to decorate the church. Auntie Debbie and Uncle Alistair said they would drive her to the church in their Jag, but secretly hired a beautiful white Rolls Royce! So that left the invitations…which meant, me. I’d hadn’t been making ‘proper’ cards for very long, although I’d been making my cartoon cards for many years… the thought of doing something this important was a little bit frightening! I searched the web looking for sites that would send samples of the card they had. All sorts turned up. I loved the silk and the pearl but Emma and Tom chose the Ivory hammered card with deckled edging.

‘We want something very simple mum. Two hearts, will be plenty.’

‘No ribbon?’ I asked. ‘No little cartoon spider? No glitter?’

‘ NO!!’

This was going to be harder than I thought!

I’d bought some clear wedding stamps, but they didn’t stamp too well on the hammered card, so Emma decided on silver peel-offs…which I bought… and then the phone call... “Is it too late to change my mind? I think I’d prefer gold…”

Oops! Out came the gold pen!! I did a few samples and Emma and Tom chose the one you see here. I got my way with adding gold elastic cord and the tiny hearts though!

‘The hearts will be too fiddly mum, especially on the favour boxes!’

‘No it won’t! I have a quickie glue pen!’

Once we had a rough idea of numbers, the production line began!! Across the dinning table, working its way across my ironing board and onto the sofa!! My Bigshot for cutting hearts, a big punch for the squares and the Ultimate Companion for folding and scoring.

100 Order of Service Cards…(No envelopes needed for these, but had to add an extra 15 for the choir and vicar!! They didn’t get the added gold elastic though and a few only had the inserts!) with 120 wedding invitations and 80 evening invitations.

A few months before the wedding Emma had the worst shock. The Shop, where she had ordered and paid for her lovely wedding dress, (and bridesmaid’s dresses with matching shoes!) had closed and was emptied over night!! Windows whiten out and a sign on the door! On the day Emma actually paid for her dress they took her money and then cancelled the order!! Luckily the designer had been there and remembered Emma and had almost finished her dress, but hadn’t been paid for it! Everything was sorted out and Emma did get the dress of her dreams in the end! (Although had to go else where for the bridesmaids dresses)

Then, just when I was thinking about addressing the envelopes Emma said…"Mum…I’ve made a mistake…it’s only 40 evening invitations, I wasn’t thinking in pairs.. but it’s now 160 wedding!"

So I’d done 40 too many evening and not enough wedding!! Luckily I’d used photo glue to fix the inserts into the cards and could gently pull out the evening invites and swap them for reception invites. And carefully using a craft knife was able to lift off the Wedding words and swap them to Evening!

The wedding was wonderful. On the warmest brightest day in October. Family came from as far away as America, Emma's lovely sister Maria and Tom's brother from Australia. The best bit for me was seeing Emma’s face when the White Rolls Royce turned up out side, dressed in all its finery. We’d been kidding her all morning that the ribbons for her Aunty Debbie's Jag were too short, Uncle Alistair had been tying them on, there were more knots than ribbons. What else? Ooh yes, and I got to wear my purple hat!!

My tip for anyone thinking of doing their own wedding cards is, go for it, keep it simple and give yourself plenty of time!

Trains, Planes and Automobiles, or Something for the boys

The New Challenge has now started over on
It was my turn to chose the winner, which was really hard and I'm thinking we should start a top three or even a top five!! (what d'you think?) So thank you to all those of you who entered, we really did have some fabulous cards and other makes using my sketch, not so many entries, as I know 'sketches' aren't quite so easy, so for this fortnight's Challenge over on Quirky Crafts Anne has chosen...(drum roll please Sid!)

Trains, Planes, and Automobiles
or
Boys and their Toys (no rude stuff please!)
or
anything with a masculine theme to it!

We're hoping loads of you will put those thinking caps on and come and join us!!
This is my DT card for the challenge. I've gone with the mad Madison again and a cupcake topped with a racing car! I hope it's made of sugar icing!

Once again the lovely Niki from...
has very kindly agreed to sponsor us for the next Fortnightly Challenge. Pop over and have a look at Niki's 'Limited Runs Digi' images, enter the challenge to be in with a chance to win three digi 's of your choice!
Ok. It's not easy having a girl with an axe and putting her on a card! But I've grown very fond of Madison, one of the Sister's Grim. (Yep, she has sisters!) Usually she's dark and Gothic but she can be sweet and sugary in a sickly sort of way!
I've used Pink Petticoat Papers, my Nesties to cut the scallop circles, couple of Auntie Brenda's Buttons from my button tin and of course, my Promakers to do all the colouring, except the 'skin', where I used my Copic pens (still haven't got any skin Promakers!) Of course all the fonts are freebies. The first one is called CK Alis Hand Official and has a link in the post below thisone (go on, scroll down!) and the 'Happy Birthday' you can see inside the card, (great isn't it!!) is called 'You Wish You Were Shirley" ! Yes, honest...(who thinks up these names!?) and you can download it for free from HEREThe 'boxes' I've used on the card can all be made on your computer, and with a bit of fiddling you can easily get the words to fit inside too!
I've also done a couple of other 'things' with a guy theme. A digi scrapbook page that I did in My Craft Studio, but I'm still trying to work out how to put it into a file that blogger can read! So, if they're not here now, they'll either be here later or on another post during the week to remind you to come and join in with the Challenge!
That's it from me!! I'm not here, so this post should appear by magic! I'll be back later to correct all the smelling mistakes and add any links I've forgotten!! Or...to do it all over again!! Bye for now!! Oh, just thought of something!! Quirky Crafts are having a DT call, so come over to the Challenge blog and join in that too!!

Birthday Tilda

Did this little pint sized Tilda card for a card competition on one of the forums I'm on. Card Making & PaperCraft, which was really lucky as I also had to make a very quick card for a forum buddy who joined the birthday card list about two days before her birthday!! So, off it went...hope she liked it..
Of course the Tilda was already coloured with Promakers and Copic pens and cut out, otherwise I guess she would've taken a little bit longer. I put half the card into the embossing folder, used the ribbon to cover the bit that didn't get embossed and for something for Tilda to sit on.
Normally I would've probably put this card onto a larger card as a topper and added more bling, more flowers and at least one butterfly, but it doesn't look too bad...except for the flowers...couldn't find my quickie glue pen anywhere so dabbed a bit of PVA glue onto the centre of the flowers and then spilt the glitter everywhere! Aw well...at lest it wasn't milk!

**Update!!! My Card won the competition!!**

Purple Penny Black

Hi everyone, how you diddling? Wet? The sunroof in my car is leaking again. Yep, I get soaked every time I go round a left hand bend! Don't laugh! A couple of ducks are thinking about renting out my boot! (Trunk, for those of you in the USA)
This card had to be purple for the monthly challenge I'd intended to enter it in to, but... I missed it! Yes! I missed a monthly challenge! Where did November go? I kept changing the card from being dotting and spotty to flowery and stripy and I just couldn't choose an image either. For the last week it's be sitting on my printer, naked! Until a sheet of Penny Black Stickeroo's fell out of a folder. And look, the little hedgie has a purple balloon! So I think it all matches quite well now and suddenly it changed from being a card I wasn't too keen on, to one that's not too bad after all!
I may've miss one challenge but I was clever enough (Clever? Moi?) to use the sketch from PaperPlay Challenges, so I'm hoping I'm not too late for that one! I've just been blog hopping and found 'Pile it On'
Their challenge #26 this week is Flowers and Flourishes...I think this fits, there's flowers and the papers have flourishes! (flowerishes! I never did get 'spelling'!) I think I might go hunt out another challenge!
All the papers are Pink Petticoat. The Penny Black. The Stickeroo was fixed on to acetate first and then cut out and then fixed to the card with silicone glue. I used Woodware and Martha Stewart punches and a Cuttlebug 'Happy Birthday' folder through my BigShot. The lacy bit is actually the 'waste' from that sticky paper lace you can buy on a roll. There's no glitter on the card at the moment but there might be by the time I send it off!
Any freebies? Just the font. It's called Susie's Hand and you can download it HERE. Or HERE or just Google it!
Sorry about the picture quality, but it's sooo dark! We have those energy saving lights that make every thing look yellow!
I didn't do any blogging over the weekend, but, as if by magic, something will appear down below, later....so, you'll have to scroll down to see Tom, my son-in-law, showing off the Christmas Cards he made, over the weekend!!
Thanks for stopping by!!

Quirky Men Challenge!

Oh no! Look at the time!! It's nearly tomorrow! Oh well, never mind! (Thank goodness blogger is behind!) Here is my DT Card for The Quirky Forum Challenge. Did you guess? Course you did!
“Masculine Theme”
This card went off to my Uncle Frank. Hope he liked it! What did I use? Ah, you'll be glad to know all the papers were freebies! The little scissor brad is by Woodware and so are the screw brads. The other little button ladder, screw driver and paint pot I bought from a market some time ago and of course the clear stamped image is from the Bubble and Squeak range, but I've forgotten which one this is, as I'm still dog sitting! (I'll add it in later) He's been coloured with ProMaker pens and stamped onto a rectangle cut using my Nestabilites (and my Bigshot) YouTube Video for colouring with ProMakers Here
The spanner paper is from MadAboutCards. Look out for their other papers if you haven't all ready found them (I know all you oldies will have them but some of you newbies might not!) The brown checked or gingham paper you should have if you've found my links before. Click here for the website and here for the pastel gingham papers (link on my side bar too) and HERE for the dark gingham papers. And the font??Oh pooh I can't remember what that was... It's times like this, when I wish I didn't have sooo many fonts! But you've gotta have 'em! haven't you!
I'll pop back later and let you know! (Meanwhile, there's a link on my side bar to some freebie hand written type fonts!) I've found it...it's one I used not long ago, so you should have it. It's called Big Log and you'll find the free download HERE
What else? I coloured the little bear with my ProMakers, (you've said that!) and everything was fixed on either with 3D foam pads, photo or silicon glue! Back tomorrow...I mean later today. (Or maybe not!) Oh and we haven't a new follower, just me!! I found out I can email people easier if I followed myself...well, I usually meet myself getting up most days anyway! Thanks for stopping by!

A Quirky Challenge

I've just joined another forum, (oh no~ let's hide!) Quirky Crafts and provided I can remember where it is and the password...(since my laptop's come off sick leave, I've lost a lot of my passwords...)I'm thinking I might enter this Tilda in to one of their first challenges. I followed their sketch, which was really easy...(it didn't walk very fast) and used those K and Co papers I used further down the blog, K-Ology. They're growing on me...(no, not like bindweed, more in a papery sort of way) I love that mauve, and the green has mauve threadled ~oh alright, threaded ~ through it, but that doesn't show up in the photo. I put the lighter mauve through the the BigShot and embossed Happy Birthday all over it, using the Cuttlebug folder, punched out the flowers, with a Woodware punch and coloured Tilda with my (dad's ~ shhh! I've still got them) ProMarkers, then did that thing with the insert I did before, ran it through the scanner so I can re-use it, but this time missed out the Loony Lyn.
Internet was playing up again today, the lady in India suggested we 'turn the computer on...' so I'm late posting this, it's already tomorrow!
Oh before I shoot off to bed, a quick hello to two new followers! Yay! ((Wave)) Ellie who has some lovely blogs for you all to go-look-see and Gez who I found after doing a bit of blog hopping, really lovely Tilda card and yummy stuff to check out. Right ! That's me done! Good Night...sleep tight...I never did get what that meant.... z z z z z z z

Little Lilac Tilda

Agh! I missed yesterday! Where did the day go?! Oh well, mustn't grumble! At least I wasn't abducted by aliens..."Good Morning Wednesday!" (It is Wednesday, isn't it?!) Here's a Tilda card I whipped up as I suddenly realised I'd nearly missed someones birthday. Yes, it's that little Tilda from down below, on the ATC. She's sooo cute. A very quick card. All Pink Petticoat papers. I put the lilac sheet (it has tiny tiny white dots on it) through the BigShot trapped in the CuttleBug's embossing folder and tore round the edges and even though this paper is only Tesco's Finest* 120gsm, it still managed to scuff up really nicely after I sanded it with a nail file. The tiny flowers, I punched out from dotty paper. Mmm, maybe I shouldn't left them out, or inked the edges or something. I added a little Stickles glitter to the centers. The adhesive gems and glittery ribbon are from Papermania. The flower button's from my stash (a buy two get three bargain) the curly corner is a Cuttlebug die-cut, that just happened to be the right colour, and fell off the shelf onto the glue, so I stuck it on! The star was a brad, but I cut it's 'legs' off (ow!) as they weren't centered, which made it really hard to line up with the ribbon. I couldn't at first make up my mind which way round the card was going to be. Think both ways would've been okay! Before I nip off, I'd like to say a big "Hi!" and a big (((wave))) to two new followers! Lesley and Tracy (who's hiding at the end of the list with no picture and keeping Esther and the other's company!) Please pop over and see their blogs! Back tomorrow, come rain or shine, providing of course, there is a Thursday and it doesn't sneak off like Tuesday did!
