BLast From The Past...

It's Monday, so here's  another card from waaaaay back when I used to make lots of shaker cards. (2010!) First cutting out frames from Crunchie Nut cornflakes packets, adding acetate and tiny beads. I even glued some tiny beads on those tiny heart buttons. Papers look like Pink Petticoat. And of course the cutie little puss-cat is a Penny Black Sticker-roo. I have this image on a little tray and on a mug, just too cute! Can't remember who I sent it to, but I hope they liked it! Thanks for stoping by!

Another Blast from the Past-Whatever happened to the Ugly Card?

Every Monday I'm going to (or try to!) add a card, or creation that I made waaay back, as I've noticed a lot of my pictures from years ago have disappeared. So...here we go with something from either the 1st of the month, first time I'd used or done something or... made on a Monday or made in the same month as now! (This was my first 'Ugly' Card...)

The card I wanted to post I can't find... I probably forgot to add labels, anyway, I found this post! I was sent an 'Ugly' card waaaaaaaaaay back in 2009. I sent it off and I never heard anything more... is it still out there roaming the universe?

The (Ugly) Travelling Card

Here's the Ugly Card! See, I told you it wasn't Ugly, didn't I. Rita sent this to me last month and it's been hiding in my craft room (poor thing's probably never seen such a mess!) The idea is...you take a picture of the Travelling Card somewhere near where you live. Rita chose some rather posh looking mansions, so I chose...well, normally it's a really nice, unique house near the sea, where two of my favourite dogs live, but at the moment its a bit, messy as it's being completely renovated!
So first I took a picture of it by my pond at home.. It's sitting on the 'Mind-your-own-business.' Then, Ugly Card came with me to work and I took a picture of it on the new sea wall. Then there's Ugly card on the fence, (Misty Isle of Wight views in the background, but lovely texture to that oak fence! Click the pic to make it bigger) Ugly card on the cement mixer (spot the guy in the shorts!) and Ugly card, being sniffed by one of the dogs!
Tomorrow, I might take it up to the Forest and get a New Forest pony or two in the back ground! Or, better still, I'll take it to hubby's 'works do' tomorrow night. Hmmm, maybe not!
Diane Forest of Little D Creations in Canada, started this all off at the end of March 2009 and thought it would be fun to see how far this card would travel, so she named it the Ugly card, Rita named it the Travelling Ugly Card.
Tracy in Canada was the first person to receive it from Diane, who sent it on to Jen in Hawaii who then sent it on to Rita in Massachusetts and Rita sent it to me!
We already have a few takers! So that's brilliant. I'll also make a few Ugly cards too, so anyone who wants to join in just yell...or email or leave a message...and we'll see what happens!!
This one will go off to Sylvia, of Poppy's Papercraft Patch (yes Sylvia that's you!) who was the first one to say, 'count me in Lyn'...and my first card will go off to Susan's Crafty Chaos as soon as I can make my own version of the ugly card...but I am thinking 'Ugly' here...A cute Troll maybe!?! Any ideas welcome! Anyone can join in! (I'll just make more cards!)
Now,
just time to say 'Hi' to new follower, Nicola over in sunny Spain! (Lucky devil!!) We've 'met' on the forums! Pop over to Nicola's Creations there are some fabulous challenge cards to see!
Right, that's me done for tonight, BIG mess to clear up in the living room and in the hall...I can't help it.. I've been making a card for Penny's Challenge. (birds) and some Inchies for Inch by Inch (leaf) and...well...I spread!
No wonder John's been in the shed all evening!! Actually, he's being very productive, he's downloading (or is that uploading?) all my Harry Potter Stories on to my phone. How cool is that!
Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Darling Hubby, John!

Well, he is my rock, only far better than a rock. (he does the cooking!) He was up so early this morning he didn't have time to open any of his cards... never mind, he'll be too busy to sneak in here and peek! This is the card I made him. Both of us had motorbikes and we used to have a motor-bike shop.
When the girls  were babies, we lived over it, but the need for a garden and smell of engine oil drifting up into all the rooms soon made us jump onto the mortgage boat, and buy our own little home, with a tiny garden and a little later to where we are now. No more bikes, but John's only got to sniff the sight of one, and I know he misses them!
Back to the card. KennyK image. (Yes I bought this one back in March BUT It's now the June Freebie HERE! left sidebar when you get there) First I was going to do that acetate thing I did with the seahorses, but it didn't quite work out, (Flip the digi and then stick the two together, and print it out on acetate too, and then fix that together ~but I forgot to put a cord/thread through the middle to attach it to the card~ so did this version of a sort of gate fold instead, but not.
It's a bit top heavy as it's an 8x8 card, with a 5 and a half x 5 and a half  card used as the topper (Why isn't there a half sign on the keyboard?) so I've added acetate to the bottom of the smaller card topper to help stabilise it.
We used to go and watch bike scrambling, (more skilful!) not Dirt Bike racing, but never mind!
I couldn't think of what papers to use, so didn't! Just black, yellow and red card, and a bit of embossing, and die cutting (only my old Bigshot wasted loads of scraps of card, by not cutting! Grrrr)  One of the inside embossing was made using a freebie folder, which came in this months Simply Cards and Papercraft, which also came with some stamps too!
Of course I've coloured up with ProMarkers (with the tiny tip addition...the metal tip ones work far better, the others didn't work at all, but Letraset kindly send me replacements awhile back!) Did hunt the internet for a coloured picture of this, to give me some idea of what was what, but could only find a very small one, in mostly grey, so, went with yellow and red instead.
There's a little D attachment, to the side of the top card, which I bought in a gardening store, 3p each, can't be bad! and the 'manly' cord ribbon came off a bosh carrier bag!
Freebie Fonts: I've used Cool Dots and Smarty Pants BTN  there's the link to download, or just google the names. That's it I think! Happy Birthday John, see you later! Hope to add this to same...

My Favourite cards of 2012

2012 was a really bad year for us, except of course the birth of baby Niamh!! But I wanted to join in with Debby's usual annual post of picking her five favourite cards for 2012 (All her cards are fantastic!) and what a great way to end the year....Here's mine, starting with... January... and you'll notice I can't count!!!! There's so much more than five!
This card was actually a birthday card for my s-i-l the year before, but I posted it again when it appeared in the Trimcraft Newsletter... (I won goodies!)
February I made this card using one of my own digi's. The card was double sided and had a secret place to add money or a  token.

March you saw this Birthday card as a Quirky Craft DT card, my challenge and sketch. I just love Bugaboo!

April you saw the first one of two...birthday cards from my two dog sitting dogs to their 'daddy' The inside folds out. I made the papers using Promarkers.
So, when May came along I did another card from the 'boys' to their 'mummy'. It was nice to see both cards stayed up long after the birthdays had been forgotten!!

By June, Lady Pam was a true member of our family and I sent her this card for her 81st birthday

July sees another Bugaboo card and some more of my Promarker made freebie papers. And I....
had to add the Bugaboo Fridge magnet too and of course this Quirky Christmas in July card...
and seeing I love Santa...I gave it to Hubby John! And still in July....

August and September I was a Guest designer with Bugaboo
so I made quite a few...
and added their little bug badge...
          to my DT cards...
This one I think is my favourite! Love that wired ribbon!
October brought us Halloween another Bugaboo
and this SteamPunk fairy image from Stitchy won a few times and...
My Bugaboo shaker  tutorial card won a few challenges too

In November I was making a few Christmas cards, another Bugaboo card
as well as thank you cards....and last but not least...
You saw this Christmas card using a  Dustin Pike's image, which I sent to my daughter in USA...
Yep, I know I've added too many....but never mind!
Wishing everyone who calls in a very Happy New Year! Big Hugs All Round!!
