Happy 80th Birthday, Les...I mean, Happy 96th Monica!

Yay!! Harry Potter in 3D was Fan-Tas-tic!! All the bits they missed out, were either missed out all together or came around in the end and sort of fitted in okay, Great battle, lots of action and special FX. Mind you, look at that dummy's arm on the body Hagrid is carrying near the end... (supposed to be a dead Harry) I wanna go again!!
Anyway, back in the real world!!!
John's 'step' dad is 80 (we think) this week, so I've done a card just in case! I've missed off putting the numbers on until I know for sure. Nothing worse than people thinking you're 80 when you're really only 79! Mind you, Les doesn't look anywhere near that age. (mean younger of course not older!) Okay, I can hear you say, that's not a very 'manly' card, more like one I would have given to my dad, as he always did like the idea of a hammock. I might swap it for a different one... after all... I do have all those football cards going spare, which I made last week!
Penny Black stamped image, coloured with ProMarkers, and 3D-ed. The Papers are freebies. I have already linked them, but if you missed that you'll find the blue spots HERE and the Kites called Summer Fete Issue 88 there (You may have to login as they are Magazine sites) And the font? Yes, that's a freebie too, it has little hearts for full stops and dots, I used a fine tipped pen to colour red. It's called HeartBreaker and you can download it HERE
I made this card with the Penny Black Challenge in mind... and a few others involving animals! Hope I'm not too late!
New Followers Hi and a {{{big wave}}} to Picnic...from Picnic's Pages. which is all 'pants' at the moment! (That's underpants to our American friends, not trousers...) Lilavati no link here but give me a gold star for finding Llilavatiscrapuje and Riti Banka Podder no link either, but I found you at (give me another gold star!) alilpieceofheaven17. Thank you for following Spyder's Corner!
***Update I did swap it...Monica had this card in the end for her 96th Birthday and Les had this card***

A Flash Back For Friday

Flash back Friday's Challenge this time round is 'First Non-Traditional Shaped Card'
Well, I've had a look out the back, and hope this one counts. It was first posted here in February 2009. No comments as not a soul came visiting back then! Bad pictures, I'm afraid, as I hadn't been blogging long, I'd never heard of challenges!
I used a Penny Black stamped image (a r.a.k image) and Pink Petticoat Papers, cut the card into an odd shape, layered it up with other odd shapes, coloured the 3D hedgehog pink with...Whispers! (only had two Promarkers back then! magenta and red!) then added acetate to 'square' the card up again. The tiny little swirly dots are from peel-off waste bits.
The Freebie font is called 215000Euro and you can down load it here. It looks like it's on a slight curve so I may have done it in WordArt and coloured it pink on the computer.

You'll be Bearly Dotty About This...

...or maybe you won't, but I quite like the way this card turned out. It's my second DT card for Quirky Craft's Challenge, Dots, Spots, Stripes and Embossing. Little Penny Black image, 'Raining Daisies', which I haven't used in ages or maybe never. Paper by.....???? I think it must be Daisy & Dandelion, A5 120gsm Paper Collection 'Picnic Patch.' Nice papers, 30 co-ordinating designs it says on the front but there's only one sheet of each design and colour, so you're a bit stuffed if you make a larger card or need more of the same paper to do other things. (Buy a bigger pack Lyn!) Ah, but do they do a bigger pack? (Just Googled it...no can't find one)
Embossed the little bear and coloured him with Promakers and used my deckled Nestabilities. I haven't used a sentiment, as Happy Birthday had been embossed on the dotty paper with a CuttleBug folder...but I'm now thinking maybe it needs one. I might do one, before it goes off. I mean, before I post it off, not that it's suddenly going to start to pong or anything! The font I've used as a watermark along the bottom of the picture is called Peas Leslie's Happy Font. Link is on my sidebar. It comes with little faces, clouds, stars, hearts, a leaf, and the word love, which is nice! You can download it for free HERE. That's it.
I bought some magnetic photo paper today. I wonder what fun I can have with that!?! Thanks for stopping by!

Little Boy Blue

I've made this little New Baby card quite small (so cute!) and once again have been using up my scraps of Forever Friend (double sided) Christmas papers, which I bought half price in the sales. I stamped the little hedgehog with black ink and then embossed him with clear embossing power, zapped him with the heat gun. (I like doing that! He didn't mind, he slept through it all!) Then stamped him again so that I could 3D him, but first, I coloured him with Promakers, well just two Promakers...or maybe three.
The Little rocking horse came back with me from our trip out to Seattle in 2009, (to see baby Mason) so was probably from Michaels or Ben...something! There was this huge bowl full of different little 'buttons' and you could pick out just what you wanted for funny money. Wish they did that over here! The heart I'm sure was from Thistleblue, included in one of her candy give-aways late last year. (Thank you!! I won theTemplate - Mirrors!)
The Font is a freebie (of course!) It's called ThreadFun and you can download it HERE. (Very similar to Cool Dots which you can download HERE)
Punches used were Woodware (Blink blink) for flower middle, taken from some lovely 12x12 velum I must have had for four years!! (aagh! I've used it at last! I think one of my toes has dropped off!) An XCut boarder punch and my Martha Stewart for the fern leaves, and everything else is from stash... There was a time, I thought Stash might be a shop, as everyone seemed to get most of their stuff from there...(have I just typed that out loud??)

I might be a bit late for some of the challenges I'd made this card for...so I'd better get a move on!
Quick reminder!! If you've entered Quirky Craft's New Beginnings Challenge don't forget to go and vote for your favourite card late on Friday, (tomorrow or today, whenever that is for you!) through to Saturday. Any one can vote, but of course you'll have to get all your blogging buddies to vote for you if you've entered! Go Now!! Thanks for stopping by!

It's Beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Here's a few Christmas cards I made for a small order. The lady had seen a Red & white /Penny Black card I'd made ages ago and wanted them to be near enough the same.
It did take me a little while to find the same backing paper, and even then, it wasn't quite the same, but I don't think she noticed! Also BIG thank you to Brenda over on Butlersabroad who very kindly stamped me out some more of these images, (we did a across the 'pond' stamp swap! Michigan to The New Forest!!) as I don't have this stamp...yet!)

The trouble I had was the original paper was Forever friends "Gift Wrapped" Double-sided A4 Card stock, 240gsm, which my Martha lace punch did cut through when it was new, trouble is, it won't now! What I ended up finding was Forever Friends "Santa's on his way" A4 paper pack, 160gsm and as luck would have it, PaperCraft Inspiration Magazine had a free Forever Friends "Every Occasion"Decoupage Card Kit this month, so one way or another I did find enough of the same paper to get the cards done!
And here they are...

They are virtually the same as a card I've blogged before. They all have loads of Stickles Glitter, one has mirco fine glitter added to make it look as though the 'snow' is glistening, which is a really nice effect and one I'll use again. (I used a quickie Glue pen to adhere it and it saves using glittered card)
That particular card also has a red scallop and holly fringe across the top, (punched from the 240gsm card stock) and you'll be pleased to know, was cut using a Xcut punch, less than a quarter of the price of the Martha Stewart!
The sentiments all were done on the computer. I used a freebie font called AdineKirnberg-s and you can down load it HERE
It's very small, so you have to have the font size at about 28 rather than your normal 12/14. and yes...I did run out of the rd dotty ribbon, which is why there's a red bow over the image instead...
oh, and the red Christmas table cloth? came from Tesco's quite a while ago...

As you can see I did a green one too!

Baby Boy Card

I've added a few links to freebies papers in this Post. I know most of you 'Oldies' will have them, but there's quite a lot of Newbies who won't have! Just finished another baby boy card this afternoon. Out of the three, Tom (son-in-law) has chosen the shaker card I made a few posts back. I knew he would!
Same Penny Black image that I used for the other card, as it's what Tom had asked for, but this time I used two different sized gingham papers instead, available to download for free HERE.
The flowers are the same blue gingham, just printed on a bit of note paper. I think they look more like they've been stamped out of cloth.
The New Baby sentiment is from MadAboutCards and you can download that with other things like hands and feet for free too, HERE. (they also have some baby pink gingham as well and also pink and yellow gingham in their Easter section, while you're there 'check' out the cute chicks too!)
I've added a bit if Stickles glitter, used Martha Stewart and Xcut punches for the flowers and leaves and two McGill stacking punches for the squares and a cuttlebug die cut (which you can hardly see) and a Woodware corner punch. Plus ProMakers to colour.
Tom's been busy all evening, making things! Typing, stamping and colouring! He's made these baby sitting vouchers. (Emma helped cut them out and fix them together with the heart brad)
The baby (Tom's new nephew) hasn't been named yet and won't be until he goes back to Iceland in about two months, I believe the happy parents will be handing out the vouchers to family and friends to baby sit. I'm guessing there'll be lots of takers!
Thank you for stopping by!

Happy Birthday Dad

Happy Birthday Pop! (that'll make him moan at me!) I'd already made a few of cards, which I'd put by, knowing that they'd be suitable for dad's birthday, but as usual, when I went to hunt them out that mischievous card swiping fairy had hidden them somewhere else. So out of the two I found, I picked this one. Okay, yes you've seen it before, and if you remember, please!! get out more!! you stay in more than I do! It was one of my Quirky Craft's DT cards a little while back and at the time I just knew it needed more, so...here it is with "more!" In case you missed it last time, the font is called Apple Butter and you can download it for free HERE
(It's official! , I'm a font freak! I knew that without looking it up!)

An Iceland Baby Shaker Card

I haven't made a shaker card for ages so when Tom asked me to make a baby boy card, I thought I'll make a few for him to choose from, but one of them's going to be a shaker! I decided to use my Quirky Craft's sketch for this one (with a square instead of a circle) The new baby boy will be flying back to Iceland very soon! I found some icy blue papers, used white faux stitching, using a white gel pen, added Stickles Icicles glitter, frosty silver and silvery eyelash wool and tiny snowflakes inside the shaker as well as on the corner with the flower. Penny Black image of course, coloured with my ProMarkers. I stamped out the letters using my Quickutz. I've also (although it's hard to see) embossed the rectangle behind the shaker, with hearts. The little stork I'm sure I brought back with me from USA last year. I've also added a bit of silver and white ribbon, which wasn't on my sketch but I thought it looked nice. Hope I'm not too late for some of the challenges I've found. There were some shaker card challenges but I think I've missed those.

10/10/10...it has to be Spooky Quirky!

Well, with the date being the 10th of the 10th 2010, it had to be spooky didn't it! As it's something that's not going to happen again for a very long time. (Ok...but will 11/11/11/ be spookier, I wonder?) I was going to put this up at 10 to 10, but thought better of it. Well, I don't want to tempt fate as I've already had my car break down three times this last fortnight. First, the gears changer thingy went 'crunch', which meant no gears. Just got that fixed when the long bit with the bolt and spilt pin came undone, leaving only third, fourth and fifth gears, but no reverse or first. It's surprising how many right hand turns on hills that suddenly appear when you're trying to get home! And then, yesterday....the exhaust fell off...I sounded like a boy racer. Fabulous!! (but very noisy!) So, that's the three, hopefully no more please!! Oh, I forgot, yes, it's still drenching me in water every time I go round a left hand bend...
So as you may have already guessed, it's that Quirky time again. Quirky Craft's new Challenge has started over on the challenge blog.
This time round Caro has set us a sketch.. and here it is. Nice and easy! So, all you have to do is make something crafty, anything you chose, (it doesn't have to be spooky!) anything from altered art, atc's, tags, scrapbook pages, to journals and of course cards, as long as you follow the sketch, (or there abouts!) then pop over to Quirky Crafts and join in. This week Caro is putting up some Crafty goodies for the winner!
My DT card it's approx 8x8 and is for a young friend who has a birthday right at the end of October, so she just has to have a spooky card. (will add inside pictures later) I've used mostly Pink Petticoat papers and fast becoming my favourite Halloween Penny Black stamp (as it's the only one I've got!) "Trick or Treat" Coloured the image with Promakers and did a bit of decoupage and!!! used my latest MS buy, a bat corner punch, which was half price! (sorry, there was only the one!) I added three black eyelets and then tied some black and purple eyelash wool through them, not sure why, it seemed a good idea at the time! I wrote the 'Boo!' But the font I used for, 'Too Cute to Spook' is a freebie, it's called Horros (you even get a little duck with it!) and you can download it HERE and for loads of other lovely horror fonts go HERE
I still think the card needs something else, maybe a bit of Stickles glitter?
That's it for now, thank you for stopping by... I had some challenges in mind, but seem to have missed most of them! (boo!) but here's a few more I found...

It's A Quirky Sketch!

This is my DT card for the Quirky Craft's Challenge starting again, after a Summer break, over on the challenge blog as I type! (you big fibber Lyn!) Shh! The challenge this time is, of course, and those of you who popped in earlier will know, is a nice and very easy...
*Sketch*
Pop over and have a look at the other DT makes. Caro has made a fun day out, and has included a fab picture of her sliding down a helter-skelter and some Storm Troopers from Star Wars! And Anne has made a beautiful scrapbook page featuring Phil, her late hubby, both great scrapbook pages. Cazzy and I (because I'm completely rubbish at scrapbook pages) have made cards. Now, you of course, can make anything crafty you fancy. You can flip it, tilt it, add a few extras, so long as we can still see that you've followed the sketch. Easy!
I've used a Penny Black image kindly stamped out for me by Fe-Fe a trillion years ago, who used to design for Quirky (thank you Fe-Fe) I know it's from Fe-Fe because it has her name on the back!
I've used chalk inks and ProMakers to colour and also some inks to rough up the edges of the papers a little. I've used Pink Petticoat papers from The His & Her Collection disc (this one was the His Collection) and both papers are blueberry and putty (one blueberry with putty dots and the other putty with blueberry dots) The sentiment I did on the computer in Word. The lovely large brad is from a set of 15 by Pepper & Friends, from TrimCraft. The font is a freebie, Apple Butter, already mentioned ages ago, but if you missed it, you can download it HERE.
I added the red raffia to match the red flowers, the little Ladybirds and the tiny red heart on the mouse's envelope. I've not added anything else other than some eye-lets as this card will probably be put by for a dad, (shh!) and seeing Penny Black Saturday Challenge are doing a card for Men/boys this week, I think it might just fit in, although I am very tempted to add some flowers in that empty space! But then, with my dad, being a gardener, that doesn't really matter!
Hi and a big (((wave))) to two new followers, one I missed yesterday, Bits4Crafts, no link here but I think I've found you here! and SallyH from Sally's World! I love those cupcake cards!
That's it from me and that's it from I and myself, we'll see you all later...

Penny Black Trick or Treat

I'm determined to get this on today (it won't fit you) but it's not quite finished. Bit of eyelash wool, glitter and of course a sentiment. would be useful. The printer (that we dragged down from the attic a week or so ago) has decided it doesn't want to print, (which is why it got shoved in the attic in the first place!) just when I was about to print out 'Too Cute To Spook', because he is, isn't he, the mouse, and the cat as too, although, either that pumpkin is the tiniest in the world or, that's a gi-nor-mouse mouse!
First time I've used this PB stamp, so I thought I'd do a bit of decoupage with it. What d'you think? (don't give up the day job!) well, it can only get better! Pink Petticoat papers again. MS punch and a strip of acetate, recycled. It was once a Promaker packet. I'll be back later, with the 'finished' card, more pictures and to fill in challenges and generally do stuff I've forgotten to do!
New Followers. Hello and welcome ((wave)) to Beary Wishes pop over and see some lovely cards, I like the owls! Hi, Carolyn who's already here, naughty blogger should've told you! Hi to Rusty, who's on the Stamping Dragon DT and Susan (aks Tomsmom) with some lovely crafty-ness. Anyone out the back? Aw, I'll look tomorrow. Sleep tight!

Another Quirky Post!

Hi everyone! (This where I usually wave at the screen half expecting someone to wave back) It's that Quirky time again. The Quirky Craft's new Challenge. Did you guess? No...course not. The new challenge was set by Cazzy and she has come up with something a little different. This fortnight 's challenge has a...
Postal Theme!
I must admit, I was wondering at first what to do. Then I always wonder what to do. But once you start to think. Post. Postman, Post lady, Stamps. The red post van, (Who's now thinking Postman Pat???) Letters, people writing and where the letters go once you send them etc etc... something usually comes into your mind (apart from what to have for tea) and in my case it was my K and Co papers... which I couldn't find, but then after going though my many 'useful boxes' hunting for them, I found a stamped Penny Black image that someone had swapped with me years ago. So I made a Christmas Card. (You can see the logic can't you!) I used The A4 Double sided card stock by Forever Friends, called 'Gift Wrapped'. Lovely and thick, shame to stick it on a card! Woodware punches for the scalloped Circles and snowflakes. MS for the lace trim and fern leaves. Cuttlebug die-cut for the corners, Promarkers to colour in. The freebie font, (which I've linked before) is called Honey Script. so you should have it! While rummaging I also found some other papers with pretty flower postage stamps on them, so they turned out to be my second card (That was yesterday's clue by the way...Postbox and envelope on one sneaky peek and a bit of a postage stamp on the other) I'm not going to blog about that one today, I'll save it for later, but before you fall asleep, nip over to the Quirky Craft's Challenge and see it there along with all the Design Team's lovely cards, ATC's and scrapbookpages. Fabulous! Come and join in! Scroll down to the last Post to see my latest One Stitch At A time's DT Challenge card and a link to hunt out some fantastic freebies from the creators of their Stitchy Bear Digi Shop!! Back tomorrow with the other card..

Snowy's A Little Green

Here he is...A green Snowy, probably the last 'Snowy' Christmas card you'll see on here for ages and ages!! (Hooray! I can hear you say) I sent this card to my Sister-in-law, only it did have more embellishments on it but, as always, I can only find this picture of him. So you'll just have to imagine the velvet green ribbon and the swirling gems I added under the flower for a stem and the Merry Christmas signature. I also added more glitter to the papers, as I'd already used them on another card and wanted to make ithis one look a little different. That's it! Short and sweet! You're going!?? Yep!! I'm busy at the moment 'inventing' something!! A left handed coffee mug? A silent alarm clock? Self tightening sky hooks? (actually they'd be quite useful!) No! Don't be silly! Wait and see! Thanks for stopping by!!

I'm Seeing Pink Snowmen!

Like elephants, you don't often see a lot of pink snowmen unless the Margaretta's have been flowing! but I thought it might make a change as this is about my 50th 'Snowy' Card. Aren't you lucky I haven't posted them all on here! (There's still time!)
How are you all doing with your New Year Resolutions?? Well, don't worry about it, I only kept up one of mine from last year and that was to start a blog!! And 'da da!!' here it is!
My 'aim' this year is to do some Digi drawings and to try and do more challenges. Well, try and do them on the right day and the right challenge as I got a few muddled up last year!
Also...have you noticed? Well you would if you'd scrolled down to the bottom, I've now got over 19,000 hits. I know most of you have trillions more than that but wow! I can remember when I first put in the widget counter and telling hubby, 'I've gotta hit!' and he grinned and said, that was probably me!
Anyway, February will be my First Bloggaversary and March is my Birthday and April is me and John's Wedding Anniversary, soooo I think it's about time I thought of some more Followers Blog Candy don't you!! I'll see what I can do! Meanwhile, let's hear what your favourite 'can't do without' crafty thing is'
Back later...I think I've got one more green Snowy left.... bye for now.

And A Few More Christmas Cards

Sorry I know you're bored with Christmas Cards, but I haven't been able to post for ages as I've only really just got my craft room back to normal, not that you could ever describe my craft room as normal! This image of a very nice little girl carrying a heart bag was a freebie, I coloured with Promakers. I'll put the links in as soon as I can find her!! The paper was from my Stamping up winnings and Papermania 'Joyeux Noel'
Sorry for those of you who didn't get a card ~ I'm sure I sent them all out on time, but I did lose some cards when we did a bit of room swapping and I still haven't found them! So I made some more and then lost all the address's! What a flap I got myself into!! I couldn't remember who I'd posted to and who I hadn't! You see, over the Christmas we cleared everything out of our bedroom and turned it into a dinning room and nearly everything out of my craft room and turned that back into a bedroom. John got our girls bunk beds down from the attic (I always knew they'd come in handy!) The last time he did this, it was Emma's wedding and the bridesmaids slept in them! This time...it was me and John...I baggsied the top bunk until I realised how hard it was to get in and out of!!! It wasn't too good trust me! What with Ozzie and Missy my daughter's two kittens running all over us during the night, by the fourth night we'd both decided we HAD to have our own bed back, even if if meant sleeping out in the shed!!
Right, back to the cards!! These and some to follow, are all the ''quickie' cards, as I call them, as I'd lost the first patch I'd made, and I was fast running out of everything!! Card, paper, glue and time!! The little Penny Black card with the cat on the armchair..(just like home...the cat's always in the best chair!!) was the quickest card I'd ever made!! The actual pink dotty card is very small and was a freebie from a Crafty mag.
This Cheeky Snowman with the blue matching papers was a freebie. You'll find him over on GTC Crafty Corner. There's loads of lovely downloads for you to go and find. So pop over and have a look, don't forget to leave a lovely comment!!
If anyone recognizes their card let me know!! It's always nice to know they arrived okay!
More Christmas Cards to come....later! Thanks for stopping by!!
