T for T Tuesday, Tea, Tree, No Time and T'other Things

Happy Belated Christmas every one. Sorry, I've been awol all over Christmas, as I was not only up to my eyebrows in Christmas Stuff and Family going's on, Poor Lady Pam has not been well. She's now being 'accessed' (I think I mean assessed!) in Hospital. I'm not sure how that works, but she's hoping for a new mojo and a large portion of brandy covered Christmas Pud with cream, as she missed out!

And! And!! And!! ! I not only managed a threeway video link with Daughter in Winchester, (herein England) but also, youngest daughter in Skykomish, which is about 50mins from Seattle USA and is under a weather warning of very deep snow at the moment. The snowy top picture was taken last year... so, no way as deep as it is now! Well, it is Tuesday, so I'm hoping, if I'm not too late, I'll add this to T stands for Tuesday, and Other Things over on the Altered Book Lover, aka BleuBeard and Elizabeth's.  First, The Christmas Tree from start...still in it's box up until about five minutes ago. Pressies all gone!

 I'm not sure the box will last another year, but the tree's still going strong! I put less than half the decorations I normally put on it, so no red, gold or green stuff this year, but I did buy a half price Christmas Gnome while we were out today...bet you can't spot him! (He's near the bottom, on the left of the finished tree, and grey.)

We've just got back from a really long walk... first through woods and then... 

along the cliff edge. Cold and Windy and a quick look around the Village... lots of knitted things on post boxes! 

                              And... a quick 'selfie!'

 

Back home, nearly dark, John's cooking up some left over beef and adding roasted veg and two Yorkshire puds, covered in gravy, served up on our (1997 to 2007) old plates (we had wallpaper that matched! The girls chose it!)

The dog's call Bandit, he's loving the snow while my grandson and son-in-law are trying to get into the house!

My untidy craft space from last week, complete with a cup of Hot Chocolate of course! (and the found lost key!) Nothing much has changed! Will 'tidy up' later. Hope you all had a lovely T for Tuesday, a Fabulous Christmas and are looking forward to a New Bright 2022!!

 This is Mason Rain our Grandson, with Santa last Christmas....super picture.

Oh Snow!

That'll teach me to say we haven't had any snow! It may not have been snowing when I was typing out my last post at midnight, but!! woke up this morning to this! Eight inches in places had fallen over night, and hubby said he had to board one of the ferries at work first thing (all dark and creepy when all the lights are out and you're all alone) and the snow was way passed his knees. (but he has got short legs!) He was a bit peeved off too this morning, because even though it was obvious it was going to snow, no gritters had been out! It's not too bad when you're the first one out on it, as many of our roads are quite untouched at the time hubby goes to work. (Me?? still snoring!! I'm not silly!) So, here's some pictures of the back garden, before I ventured out to feed the birds...

Another Monday Morning

Monday the 2nd of Feb. (saved as draft, so hence the date above, I think)

We woke up to snow...lots of it. We don't get much snow down here, it's nice to see it if you don't have to go to work and can play. I remember taking my girls to school on the sledge, with hot hard boiled eggs in their pockets to keep their fingers warm.
'You can eat your egg at break time.' I'd say.
'Yeah.' said the girls in chorus giving each other knowing looks. It was only last week, more than twenty years on, Emma confessed, they never ate their eggs.
So, Monday morning, late as usual, I quickly throw some wild bird food at the angry blackbird in my garden, lock up and crunch my way past our little red van, looking sad with it's engine in bits, to my car parked in the drive, with a little voice in my head yelling, 'You shouldn't have done that...' I unlock my car, turned the engine on to help melt the thick layer of freezing snow and listened to Harry Potter blaring out, while I scraped away the snow. Did I tell you my central locking is playing up?? and why the little voice in my head was telling me not to lock the house and was now telling me, on no account to close the car door??? You've guessed it. The central locking suddenly went haywire. Click-click-click-click-click-clunk! and the car was locked! Engine running and me with no way of getting into it or back into the house to get the spare key.
'Oh NO! NO!' I yelled, with visions of Basil Fawlty hitting his little red car with a tree branch now in my head...'No you stupid car, no!'
'Is something wrong?' said a voice from the other side of the hedge. My neighbour, from across the road had earlier tried to reverse her car back into her drive but it had slid out again, and lucky for me, there she was with words like, 'Can I help?'
'Er? Any good at breaking in?' Were my first thoughts, which quickly changed to, 'Um...couldn't use your phone, could I?' Of course I didn't have my mobile. Someone from India, (can you believe a phone stalker!) has been ringing me day and night leaving messages, so I'd turned it off and left it in the kitchen. I had a sudden thought of, 'I could poke a stick through the cat flap and get the spare key or even my phone, but then 'neighbour' from across the road said,
'You can use my phone, while I make a cup of tea.' Of course not having my phone meant I couldn't remember Hubby's work number, so after ringing Portsmouth to get the number of the local Office, John finally came on the line.
'Yeah? What? Where you ringing from?'
I could hear the frown...
'Um,' I said slowly...'Remember I told you about the central locking not working properly and locking itself whenever it felt like it? Welllllllll'
'You've locked your keys in the car.'
'Yes...and the engines running...with the heater on and Harry Potter's playing, you can hear it... but at least all the snow's melted now.'
'Damit!' Came back the frowning voice..'I'm coming' and the phone clicked dead.
Twenty minutes later, hubby arrived. So, the moral of my story? Don't trust central locking and... if you have other cars parked in your drive, check to see if they have their keys, because sitting in our broken little red van, not more than a few feet from me all that time was a set of keys.
Shame that little voice in my head didn't tell me this....
