Happy Second Anniversary.

It's Tom and Emma's (Daughter and Son-in-law) second wedding anniversary on Monday. Emma likes simple cards. I don't think I can get much simpler than a Forever friends Decoupage with the matching papers. I won this set along with a few other yummy goodies from Cardmaking and Paper Craft Magazine for being their subscriber of the month a little while ago. I've just added a dash of Stickles glitter, some pink corner peel-offs and a few gems. Not a good photo even with my 'day light' bulb. You can't really beat the real daylight can you.

Happy Anniversary Deb & Alistair!

I have a couple of anniversary cards to do this month and this is the first. Sis-in-law, Deb, spotted me doing a bit of stamping this afternoon (in the kitchen) when she popped in to give hubby a lift up to the Hospital. 'Oho I like that one', she said, pointing to some singing cats. and so, while they zoomed off to see their mum, I made Deb and her hubby Alistair, an anniversary card as it's their anniversary today! (which was quite handy really!)

Not the normal card for an anniversary, singing cats, but they do like cats. They have two. Bruce and Wallace. No prize for guessing where Alistair comes from!
I've used Pink Petticoat papers. I've had these for ages, and can't ever remember ever using them. I've inked the edges with a bit of blue chalk ink, added faux stitching and Stickles glitter. The cats were stamped out twice, coloured with Promarkers and then 3D-ed. (that way you still keep the whiskers!)
The sentiments were all done on the computer. The fonts are all freebies. The 'me-ow' is called DayDream. The cats are singing 'Happy Anniversary to you-ooo' and that font is called Ck_alis_hand_Official and the sentiment I've used inside the card is called Huntson and the image inside the card is from Pepper and Friends, so cute!

Yippee It's Friday! And This Month's Banner Winner!

I must admit my old brain cells thought, for a brief moment this morning that it was Monday, which of course made me late for work, but after that, I'm sooo happy that it isn't! It's the weekend!! I think sometimes that it creeps up so quickly, one day I'm really going to miss it! (whoosh, there it goes, gone!)

Lovely party yesterday at Mum and Dad's, thank you to everyone who wished them well, unfortunately my camera's memory card come up with file error, or words to that affect, (effect?) and I lost all the pictures I'd taken on it, including pictures for Ebay, picture's of John's very blotchy leg, taken when he had blood poisoning (don't ask!) and the pictures of the anniversary card I made for Mum and Dad, as well as loads of pictures of friends and family all posing and doing silly things, so I can't put them on here. (funny? I'm sure I heard a sigh of relief then!)
I did get some pictures as the camera can take a few without it's memory. (it's better equipped than me!) And of course there was a writeup in the local rag about what they'd been up to over the last 60 odd years. Well, not everything!
Roz, (lady from the paper) must have dug deep into the newspapers archives, as she put in far more than I told her!!
The picture of the card I made was snapped at Mum's, so not too bright and it's the only one I took. (I usually take loads.) I knew just what I was going to do for the card but somehow had run out of everything I needed, so settled for a Forever Friends decoupage. I'll swap the picture for a better one later, if I can 'borrow' the card back!
Emma made her grandparents a card too and a few other family members also had a go at making hand made cards. It's catching!!
The cake was made by my mum's friend, Doris. Mum used to do cakes and sugar craft, but Doris kept it up and now makes all sorts of cakes to order. Bett, one of mum's friends bought her dog Jess along to the party, and she made herself at home on the garden bench! Unfortunately that's all the pictures I've got (Thank goodness! I mean...oh shame) except for one of Tom and Emma... some people just don't like their photo's taken!! (nice teeth Emma!)
This Months, I mean last Month's Banner Winner, for having my Digi Store linked on their side bar, was very close this time, winning out right by miles was The Card Making and PaperCraft Forum! (I have a link there!) But I can't count them! Close runner-up was a newbie follower (shhh!, not telling!!) but winner this time is Sue from Scoopys Stuff. Which is nice because Sue was actually runner-up last time! Sue, you've won a digi from the store or I'll draw something for you! Shell wanted a doodle of her dog, Charlie and Jackie wanted a Hedgehog on a swing! and Sue wants...a budgie!! I'll get right on that Sue!!

Sixty Years Today: Happy Anniversay Mum & Dad

Lee and Lynne knew their best friend hated her name Winifred and so renamed her Lesley. They were due to date some lads who had just been de-mobbed. It was Bromley Kent April 7^th 1947. Lesley was a little disappointed that the ‘Alan Ladd’ look alike hadn’t been her date, but over the course of the evening, Jim decided he would be walking her home, as he didn’t live too far from where Lesley lived with her Mum, Dad, two younger brother’s and sister at Brook Lane, Bromley. Jim, lived at the Goodsyard Cottages, with his mum, who ran a tea shop at the at Chislehurst Caves, which had been used as the local air raid shelter, younger sister Betty and step dad, who was a train announcer at Waterloo Station. It was only a three mile walk home.

Jim had served his time driving Tanks visiting Burma, Singapore and Sumatra with the Royal Armoured Corps, Duke of Wellington Regiment. After being de-mobbed took a job on the land, while Lesley was working at Dorothy Perkings in Bromley High Street. By 1948 they were engaged and by August 1950 they were married at St Andrews Church Burnt Ash Lane Bromley. Lesley, still called Win by her London family, remembers she was a little sad that she’d spent all her clothing coupons on her bridesmaids dresses and had to borrow her wedding dress but her day was made when she arrived at the church to hear wedding bells see the church filled with flowers and hear the organ playing, a little surprise arranged by her parents.

Across from her parents home in Brook Lane was a Tudor House with large gardens, a place Lesley had dreamed about living and soon after they were married Jim showed her the keys to May Cottage, where he secretly obtained the job as gardener. In 1953 their daughter, Lyn was born, but sadly the Tudor house, cottage and garden were demolished to make way for London’s ever growing population and turned into flats. Keen for a new life Jim and Les thought of Australia but settled for a while on a farm near Cliffe where in 1958 their son Mike was born. Self taught, Jim was fast becoming a very knowledgeable fruit and veg expert and found himself in charge of the many gypsy groups who would turn up for the summer to harvest the hops and summer fruit. But the call for a new life was still in the air but instead of Australia, in 1961 Jim acquired a job in change of the fruit section at Efford Experimental Agriculture Station. And they moved to Hampshire. Here they made many friends, being founders of The New Forest Dahlia and Chrysanthemum Society and later after moving to Hordle, The Hordle Flower Club, were Lesley was secretary and is now still Vice President. Jim, who was a Bee steward for many years at the New Forest Show, also worked for a while delivering Boats for Rogers Boat Builders but returned to gardening until his retirement as gardener to The Showerings at Sowley. Lesley loves her computer and was able to trace Jim's long lost older brothers and sisters separated before the war. Jim still tends his garden at Hordle entering and judging local shows. They now have four granddaughters, Emma, Maria, Lisa and Amber and a great grand son Mason, who was born last year on September 29th Overlake Hospital, Bellevue. Seatle, USA.

Forever Friends Wedding Anniversary

12th April 1975. Thirty five years! Forty one years together. (I was two...no, ok, twelve...well, okay...a bit older than that! I was twenty two and John was nearly twenty three. He says, he wouldn't've got that for murder, but I think he was kidding, or maybe not!

I did a very quick card, nothing frilly or fancy. Just a little bear in an umbrella, because he is my umbrella in all things. Huh? What? I can hear you say. Well, I know what I mean.
