Wots On Your Worktop Wednesday?!#757 with Links To Freebies

Hello crafty WOYWWers! Here's my kitchen top, which is about the same as yesterdays, with a few added things after my shopping spreed. Had to go sort out my van's MOT so, why not do a bit of shopping too? I'm still not used to going shopping on my own. I pick up things and put them back again. I still look for backup from John, which is odd really cos I've got a few things that he'd buy over the years... and they're still at the back of the cupboard! I'm making that tab (a Friday freebie from Gi, Happiness in Crafting) I was looking for some paper to line the tab, to make it a bit stronger. I wanted music as some of the add ons I bought from her shop have music.

Anyway, back to 'shopping'. A trip to The Works got me those document wallets (5 for a £). The Rudolph Tissue paper was from TKMax (1.99) I'm hoping to make it the cover to a glue book filo...The gnomes were from a charity shop at £1. Also in TKMax I bought a blouse...I put it back three times! I could hear John's voice saying, 'if you like it, buy it!' Then, 'What was it's real price!?' I turned the tag and it was £65... (Definitely a no no!!) 'and their price?' £19. 'So, no brainer', sez John, in my head. And I do love it!
In another charity shop find. I bought this (once a freebie in a crafty magazine years ago) Safari Friends stamp set with embossing folder. I've seen them on ebay for over a fiver plus postage. This was a pound. So, good deal done! And aren't those critters cute!?

And talking of stamps...this, is not a slug, but what is left of a small Happy Christmas stamp, it appears to be melting. I know it's probably years old, but this is proof, they don't last forever. Maybe it's a good idea to stamp out a few of your favourites in advance, just in case!  Now, The blue-ish paper it's on, I think/guess is a freebie download from Tattered Lace. Login/ register, for loads of Tattered lace type freebies.
This is what my kitchen top ended up like after I'd put the tag together. In the end I lined it with what was once a drawer liner with music and cherubs. I'm now, not sure how Gi did the ribbon. Going to have to watch the video again. This is very much like my little treat holders I made waaay back in 2013, adding Reindeer pooh treats. Of course, Gi's is sooo much more 'grow-up' But then...looking at these...I think I might make some more!

Yesterday, I didn't manage to put the Christmas lights on the garden Christmas tree, because I couldn't unscrew the battery box! In fact it broke my little screw-driver! A trip back to Tesco's and I was given a new box of lights, which even the assistance found was very tricky to open! That's me done! Off to put the lights up, well, only ones I can reach! (No one will get me up a ladder to hang them from the guttering!) Have a Happy Crafty Week, and if you can, pop over to Julia's Stamping Ground and join in!

Craft Room Invasion- Niamh Makes a Card!

Grandkiddies invaded us over the weekend, after I'd just managed to 'tidy' by craft room, only to have it  back to its normal untidiness in a matter of seconds! 'I want to play with the monster Charley game' sez Oliver, 'Nanny where are the monsters?' 'Nanny I want to make a card! What's this do. What are these? Can I use this? ' sez Niamh turning the handle on the big shot...and then 'I like this little one Nanny!' she sez pointing to the little mini Gemini. 'I want to make a card with this.' and again from Oliver, 'Where's the monsters Nannie?'

In the end Oliver went off with the Chase Me Charley Board, seen in  WOYWW a little while back, after I'd found him the new monsters and the new dice. Then Niamh soon chose her papers after sorting through about a dozen boxes.
Niamh picked a midnight scene of a deer family from 'The Little Book of Foxy and Friends' by Hunkydory. Matted that on some purple mat mirror card and then onto a 5x7 white card. Then added a Happy Birthday sentiment.

The inside came from PaperCraft Essentials #198 'Fairy Wishes Foiled Collection' papers, (there's also a fairy freebie download, you may have to sign in first) and added a black silhouette diecut from the same paper pack. After she found the diecut she wanted (made easy as I sorted a lot out a few weeks ago) she used the BigShot to cut it out and fixed it to the inside page. She covered her message as she didn't want anyone to see it!

Sorry my  picture of the finished card didn't come out so good, but Niamh was very pleased with it!
And this is the aftermath! The, 'What are these Nanny?' were the packet of wobblers. And shown here are the half price dies from The Works, and the box of 'Monsters and dice' that Oliver wanted. Niamh even knew the name of the 'Snow Buddies' paper pad and took a few home to finish...along with envelopes, little cards and glue.... "Can I have that one Nanny....it's got more glue in it!" Of course you can...
I'm tired out, but it was great fun! Thanks for stopping by!

John's Birthday Card, finished At Last! + Up Date Link to freebie Papers

This is Hubby/John's Birthday card. Flowers? Gnomes? A mice? No! Well, yes but below is the back of the card, in my potting shed, which he built for me. His workshop/garage (far too small for a car to fit in!) shares a wall, this is my side of the wall  outside in the garden where the potty shed is.... and... above is inside his garage...

... where John keeps all his tools and bikes and things. The tall red tool box, with it's drawers and pull down lid, was  my inspiration for the card. So I've added, wires, gas bottles, cogs,  nuts, bolts, saws, hammers,  scissors and goggles. The card tells a story. John's spent the best part of the last eighteen months rebuilding his dad's (and Uncle's old bike) which, he rescued from a field some thirty odd years ago and stored in the little shed attached to his Office (Man Cave) where it stayed. It was covered in rust and rat poo...in the artical he wrote for a motorbike magazine he said mice, thinking they sounded far cuter than rats!

He always wanted to rebuild the bike but years passed and every time he looked at it, the task seemed an impossible one! And then we had a pandemic and lockdown happened. That became the perfect time! He took pictures of the bike's slow recovery and wrote an artical for a members only bike magazine where it was published. It was a bit like "Trevor's Broom" as so much of the bike was just rust!  But he finshed it!

John off for a day trip around The Isle of Wight.
When I first made the card it had a BIG mouse on it, but it didn't look right, then.... my Lawn Fawn order arrived, so I whipped off the big mouse and added lots of little mice from the Bubbles of Joy set and they were just perfect. I even managed to fix a thread from the rag to the little mouse's paw!

And on the other side, made it look like the little mouse was having a drink from the dripping watering can. To go with this, I've also made a bench card, which I'll add later.

This type of card is called a Chalk Board Card, although I have added lots of things around the bottom so you can't really see the legs and because it was double sided I didn't make the window box stick out. The idea came from Sam Calcott, her YouTube Tutorial is here

Well, I hope you liked it and will have a go at making one too! Hoping to add this to a few challenges later. Thank you for stopping by!

PS Forgot. Because I couldn't write inside or on the back of the card, I downloaded a freebie Bike and turned that into a pull out card that just fits inside. To download this decoupage bike and 96 freebie Debbie Moore papers go to Crafts Beautiful. You may have to sign in.
