Happy Birthday Oliver- 9 today!!

It's my grandson's Birthday today, Happy Birthday Ollie! So I made a card, the first one in ages... I think I said on Wednesday that I was getting him two Lego cars, a Mclaren Formula 1 racing card, which he already has, as Amazon didn't have any til 2nd of September, so Emma nipped out and got it from Argos, Winchester and I nipped out and got a Lamborghini racing car from the local toy shop, who were really helpful.

I also said on Wednesday that I wasn't sure what to do for a card... dinosaurs or Lego...He had Dinosaurs on last years card, so I really wanted to do something with Lego...So, that's what I did.
I wrapped the present in dinosour paper and made a matching tag, and then made a Lego card. The only thing was, all the smaller Lego
(more 'grown-up' Lego) is deeply hidden under Lord Knows what, up in the Attic...but all the Dulo and Fabuland Lego is under the bed in the spare room... So, that was easy! Poured it all out, made sure there was a Number 9 showing somewhere, took a few pictures, scanned them in and voila! Printed them all out and fitted my new 'Lego Papers' to the card.

That bit was very easy, but I wanted to do a reveal wheel card on the front...So, using my Lawn Fawn dies cuts...(hours later) yes well, I think I cut out enough to make four or five cards and for some reason the opening wouldn't open! (I must've glued the wrong bit!) So I stopped and played with Loki for a while, then made another one... it was a bit wonkey, but it worked! Yay!

So! That's one Lego Birthday Card made. You should see the mess!

That's it for today! Loki and I are off out for a nice walk! And are hoping to take pressy to grandson. Thank you for stopping by!

Mostly, Fabuland Lego Bricks

Happy Birthday Oliver. Card Number Two. A Tri Fold Card.

Here's  Oliver's second card I made for his birthday. I've called him Ollie the Owl of course. This  die set, along with matching stamps is designed to go with aTri-fold card,  is by Crafter's Companion, which I'm happy to say was waaay less than half price (£2.20) at The Range and seeing all you get are the frames with a little bit of the owls outline, that's about right!  I would've been a little peeved at paying over £9 for them! (I also bagged a giraffe over the edge set from the Crafty Charity shop for 50p, worth it even if one thing was missing)

I swapped the heart in his 'wing' for a birthday pressy. Coloured in Promarkers and used papers from my stash from years ago, called Abstract Prints by the then Dovecraft.

The Happy Birthday die, the party word and party hats and the Banner dies were from The Range and were also well below half price. Yay!

The paper on the right in this picture above came from a 6x6 paper pad called 'Neighourwood' Another one I love and just haven't wanted to 'cut into it'  But I will! I added it to cover the inside 'window' with some foiled leaves card so you couldn't see the sentiment through it.

This is the back. I've made a 'pocket' with  a secret message, telling Oliver to say the secret code, which was 'I'm Ollie Owl', and nanny, me, would give him some birthday money! I loved making this card  and it would be very easy to make another using other animals in my stash! My only 'thing' was, I wish it had a whole die for the owls as well. As it was, you could only die cut the owls heads and then fussy cut the rest of them to fit onto the card.

That's it from me! Thank you for stopping by.

Happy BIrthday Oliver! First card is a ...Tunnel Box Card

Evening Crafty peoples, hope you're not too hot! I must admit, I've melted on more than two occasions. Our old fans are blowing their little hearts out, which means, crafty paper is scattered everywhere! Here's one of the cards I made for Grandson Oliver for his seventh birthday today! It should've been dinosaurs but I couldn't find them (they are extinct you know) but I did have some dragons...so I used them instead.

I used one of my very first die cuts (a set of nesting dies) so they must be at least 12 years old, if not older but I've never used the biggest one before now...and guess what...one of the curvy corners didn't have  any thing there to cut with, just smooth metal, so I had to finish it off with scissors. All the smallers dies worked fine. There's about three layers looking through the 'tunnel' to see, at the very back,  Tim Holtz's 'Alpine' Mountains with pine trees. I took ages making them but they can't really be seen.

The dragons are stickers and are guarding the castle's gold, treasure and gems. They are just fixed onto acetate, which is why, on a close up shot the picture looks 'cracked'. The papers I've used are from a 12x12 double-sided pad from The Works.

At least I managed to find a bit of a dinosaur for the back of the card, downloaded for free at Chantahtiadesigns rainbow papers, where I wrote a sentiment, but I rubbed that bit out. (And yes, I'd forgotten I had these dinosaurs!) The whole card folds flat to fit into a 5x7 envelope. Oliver's other birthday card will be here tomorrow, with any luck-because, oops, just remembered I haven't watered the flower pots and hanging baskets or the beans or the tomates yet!...and we have dogs that need a quick pee and a poo walk before bed. (which is why I haven't been here for ages, again!) So, stay safe, keep crafting... and thank you for stopping by.
