A Quirky Number on Dustin!

Morning!! Well... it's 2.30 in the morning! Just had to make a card using Dustin Pike's Friday Freebie seeing he is kindly sponsoring Quirky Crafts 'Numbers' Challenge, along with The Stamping Boutique this fortnight! Yayyy! (See original post below)
It was such a lovely surprise and all sorted so quickly, we hadn't received his new number digi's before the challenge had started. He said to go ahead and add him anyway. So I grabbed he's latest Freebie, this little wizardry cat and mouse cooking up some spells and quickly (I lie!) made this card...
Pink Petticoat Papers, 'witch' I had backed up on a disc, but would it open!?? No... Anyway, I got there in the end, using what I already had printed out.
I printed the digi over a lilac fluffy cloud paper in Word (see pic below, click to enlarge)

Mo, Twinkletoes2day emailed me the other day to do a tutorial on 'how to print out PNG Digi's over background papers in Word...' as you can see, I'm on the old Word, hubby has the newer one, but I find it muddling! and yes... I do have 739 unopened emails in my box, mostly from blogging people!
I will do one if you think it might be useful. It's one of those things I do, and then forget how I did it!

Back to the card... I coloured the white clouds with a lilac Promarker, coloured a second Cat and mouse image, cut it out (snipping off the mouse's skinny tail) then fixed it over the other imageusing gel glue.
There's eight layers if you count the spotty bit, which was just that little scrap left over from another halloween card years back(Scrap Girls)
I used my Martha Stewart Cobweb border punch, added 6 purple brads, loads of Stickles Glitter to the edges and the stars on the paper, then added some fish skeletons again.. .one day I will find my bat punch!!
Now, I've sort of followed the Bugaboo's Stella Says Sketch, but I've gone and twisted the squares in the middle the other way again. My GDT card is here (I might add it just for fun)

Anything Goes at Bugaboo!

The Anything Goes Challenge has started over on Catch The Bug! Here's my Card. I love this image! I used Scene-it--Halloween-Witch don't you just love that haunted House and the little witch!?! You can find her on her own in the Bugaboo store HERE
I've coloured the image with Promarkers, done a wee bit of 3D-ing, the fence, pumpkins and the little witch. (Room to do loads more!) Also added loads of black, purple, and diamond Stickles Glitter and a black 'see through' ribbon, so the papers aren't hidden too much, black and purple card with a little added cobweb detail, using my Martha Stewart border punch (I love that!)
Now the orangey/yellowy bat background papers behind the house are freebies by Summer Driggs, her lovely Boo-tiful-night- scrap-booking kit
I used the Bugaboo digi as a PNG. I put both the image and the bat paper into My Craft Studio, played with them until they appear as you see them now, printed, including a plain digi, for the bit of 3D-ing and coloured them all up and wal-lah! Simple! (groan...my head hurts!)
I don't recommend using anything black or very dark as a background (I tied a PinkPetticoat 'Black with white Stars' first but too much of the detail disappeared into the background, see photo) Or of course you can just colour the sky in with inks! So much easier! I don't have very many (3) inks. I had a go at some inking on the inside sentiment and added the little witch cut out from a left over house.

The purple halloween papers were freebies too. Had them for ages. They're saved on my computer as 'Halloween Freebie 04. jpg' Where's that!? I'd forgotten! (Oh no!!) Well good old Google found them over on Bearly Mine Designs! HERE (Yippee!)

I've put this post on timer...sort of unfinished. One, Blogger is again telling me I've used up 100% of my picture space (aaggghh!!) and two, I'm not here and I haven't finished the inside of the card yet. It's the village Fete today, so I'll be helping mum like I did last year... Nice to see my 'Flower Show' sign is still going strong and the Promarkers I used to do it, still look fabulous!

Witching You A Hauntingly Fab Birthday!

Here's one of my digi's. Wilma and Wizzy the witch with her cat, flying on her magical broomstick, on a Halloween Birthday card.

I've made at least one Halloween birthday card every year for as long as I've been making cards. Don't really need to make one this year, but, old habits...and all that.

I printed Wilma and her cat straight onto some Pink Petticoat Papers using the PNG image (so no white background...with most of my digi's now you get both JPeg and PNG when purchased from the Digi Store, butI have to put a few more black bits in to make that work) I coloured two more images with Promarkers. The second image was fixed straight onto the first, minus the little spider swinging from Wilma's hat. With the third image, I cut Wilma off her broomstick, along with Wizz the cat and the broomy end of the broom, and Wizzy's tail too, so I could do a bit of 3D-ing.
After that I sprinkled on a bit of micro fine glitter, added those candi card brads, purple and black eye-lash wool and a few tiny die-cuts from some Halloween confetti.
I used a Woodware punch for the flower, and A Martha Steward spider web boarder punch and fern punch. The bats are actually the cut outs from a Martha Steward bat corner punch.

The font a freebie, it's called, of course Halloween. This one is quite hard to find because of it's name, loads of freebie fonts appear on Google if you just type in 'Halloween', but this one is found HERE and loads HERE you'll love even more!

A Mice Birthday!

I've made another birthday easel card for Les (step dad in-law) I made one for him last week but decided...well, Hubby decided, it wasn't very 'Leslie-ish,' what with the snoozing hedgehog, hammock and banners... so I've made a snoozing mouse card instead! (Everyone knows mices are more manly than prickly ol' hedgehogs, because us women just stand on chairs and scream when we see one, but give hedgehogs cat food and beer coz they're cute...maybe not the beer, visions of sloshed hedgies have suddenly come into my mind!)
The colours on this card are a bit more 'manly' too, (greenish and washed out gingham red) rather than twee, red and blue. But what do you make for a guy, and one who's been around for 80 years? Something a bit more grungy or steam-punkish, with clocks and keys and loads of oily looking ink? Yeah...something gadgety, but I haven't anything remotely like that and let's face it, guys don't do cards, do they... unless of course they're called Tim or Paul or Dustin, or Neil or Ollie or Steve or Eric or ...ummm thingy from DoCrafts... anyway!! (It'll come to me in a minute!) ah, Phill...that's the one.

I'm hoping this card will fit into the House Mouse challenge and one or two others.

I've added Buttons, two from John's Aunty Brenda's button box, with added beads ... bows ~a bit of ribbon and a tiny....oh!!! where's my bow gone!!! (In the garden, where I took the flippin' picture I bet!!!....will add that again later...) and bling... umm...well, I've added quite a lot of layers!
(**Back from the garden, it took me ages to find that bow! Half way between the dahlias and the dandelions!! No, I'm not changing all the darn pictures...just the bottom few and between you, me and the gate post, I might take it off again! I mean!?! Are bows manly?!? Yep! Bows go with arrows! anyway...I bet no one notices!)

Papers are Picnic in The Park, from a freebie pack that came with Simply Cards Magazine months ago. First time I've used them, they were still in their packet! (I forget I had them!) **Update! I have used them once before a few months ago here. I might send a pic to Simply Cards too! I've also done some faux stitching with a white gel pen. I've also inked around all the edges with green ink. (£1.50 for two inks, green and blue, and three tiny bug stamps from Tesco's, for the kiddies of course, darn the kiddies, why can't grown-ups have them!)
The stamped House Mouse image was coloured with Promakers, (the one I mentioned losing earlier, I found it! inside a book!! Now, how did it get there?!? and what was the chances of me finding it this side of Christmas!?)
No 3D-ing this time as this image came from Sue and I've only got one left!! and...
The sentiment was done on the computer. The 80 was done in WordArt so I could have it coloured in a shaded green with a black outline.

I've used my Martha Stewart cobweb punch (more manly than the lacy one!) I've wired some green glass beads to the buttons, (I usually use a needle and cotton to do this but this time used wire because the beads were too small to threadle onto the needle and wire is sooo much more manly than cotton!) I've added quite a few little brads in green and orange, plus little green gems and tiny waste dots from some really old gold peel-offs... (never throw anything away!) and that's it I guess!!
It all lies flat of course to fit into the normal sized envelope. Ohoo I'm suddenly talking (inside my head) with a Welsh accent, that'll teach me to watch too much Torchwood!! That's it for now, thanks for stopping by!! Catch you again very soon! **Update!! Have won some House Mouse Stamps!!!

10/10/10...it has to be Spooky Quirky!

Well, with the date being the 10th of the 10th 2010, it had to be spooky didn't it! As it's something that's not going to happen again for a very long time. (Ok...but will 11/11/11/ be spookier, I wonder?) I was going to put this up at 10 to 10, but thought better of it. Well, I don't want to tempt fate as I've already had my car break down three times this last fortnight. First, the gears changer thingy went 'crunch', which meant no gears. Just got that fixed when the long bit with the bolt and spilt pin came undone, leaving only third, fourth and fifth gears, but no reverse or first. It's surprising how many right hand turns on hills that suddenly appear when you're trying to get home! And then, yesterday....the exhaust fell off...I sounded like a boy racer. Fabulous!! (but very noisy!) So, that's the three, hopefully no more please!! Oh, I forgot, yes, it's still drenching me in water every time I go round a left hand bend...

So as you may have already guessed, it's that Quirky time again. Quirky Craft's new Challenge has started over on the challenge blog.
This time round Caro has set us a sketch.. and here it is. Nice and easy! So, all you have to do is make something crafty, anything you chose, (it doesn't have to be spooky!) anything from altered art, atc's, tags, scrapbook pages, to journals and of course cards, as long as you follow the sketch, (or there abouts!) then pop over to Quirky Crafts and join in. This week Caro is putting up some Crafty goodies for the winner!
My DT card it's approx 8x8 and is for a young friend who has a birthday right at the end of October, so she just has to have a spooky card. (will add inside pictures later) I've used mostly Pink Petticoat papers and fast becoming my favourite Halloween Penny Black stamp (as it's the only one I've got!) "Trick or Treat" Coloured the image with Promakers and did a bit of decoupage and!!! used my latest MS buy, a bat corner punch, which was half price! (sorry, there was only the one!) I added three black eyelets and then tied some black and purple eyelash wool through them, not sure why, it seemed a good idea at the time! I wrote the 'Boo!' But the font I used for, 'Too Cute to Spook' is a freebie, it's called Horros (you even get a little duck with it!) and you can download it HERE and for loads of other lovely horror fonts go HERE
I still think the card needs something else, maybe a bit of Stickles glitter?

Penny Black Trick or Treat

I'm determined to get this on today (it won't fit you) but it's not quite finished. Bit of eyelash wool, glitter and of course a sentiment. would be useful. The printer (that we dragged down from the attic a week or so ago) has decided it doesn't want to print, (which is why it got shoved in the attic in the first place!) just when I was about to print out 'Too Cute To Spook', because he is, isn't he, the mouse, and the cat as too, although, either that pumpkin is the tiniest in the world or, that's a gi-nor-mouse mouse!
First time I've used this PB stamp, so I thought I'd do a bit of decoupage with it. What d'you think? (don't give up the day job!) well, it can only get better! Pink Petticoat papers again. MS punch and a strip of acetate, recycled. It was once a Promaker packet. I'll be back later, with the 'finished' card, more pictures and to fill in challenges and generally do stuff I've forgotten to do!

It's a Doodles Halloween with Karen's Freebie!

Love this, don't you! The image that is, not too sure about my design! but I had fun doing it! Only thing is, I really wanted cobweb peel-offs and a few spiders, but could only find the one witch in my stash.
The card's about 7" square, with a slice cut off the front, where I've added acetate. The extra pumpkins and the Boo! I did myself... I've used Pink Petticoat Halloween papers, inside and out. Karen Doodles Image that I've coloured with Promarkers. You can obtain free, if you become a follower and join in the challenge over at Doodle divas Netherlands and also on their Face Book page too! One Stitch At A Time.

Last weeks was great, but sorry from me as I couldn't comment on all of your wonderful makes as, I couldn't see you! (blind at a bat!) No, Mr Linky kept skivvying off, but I did come across some of you while blog hopping.

Great Challenge! Reminds me a lot of my Bumper sticker!! "I slow down for fairies, gnomes, trolls, dragons, unicorns and other mystical creatures that only I can see! So!...moving on! Let's see what fabulous magical makes you can come up with! You can make anything, it doesn't have to be a card and you don't have to use any of the images from Stitchy Bear, but we'd love it if you did!! I was given this lovely image called Tinkerbella by one of our new creators, which you can find over in..(ok voice over man, shout it out loud!!)

I made my card using Summers papers by My Minds Eye. Gems and flowers from stash. Tinkerbella has been coloured with Promakers and I've added lots of Stickles giltters and micro glitter too and I've fixed her to the card using 3D foam pads. I've also used my fern and cobweb Martha Stewart punches. I wanted to add a butterfly charm but I've run out of them, so if I manage to find one later I'll add another picture!As I said, 'Tinks' is the artwork of one of our new creators, Sylvie. Pop over and say Hi to Creative mind of Sylvie, as she has some fabulous freebies for you!

OSAAT's Furry Challenge

Morning everyone! Or g'day if you live in Australia!

One Stitch At A Time

I've picked mine but I think they're using Mr Linky because there were some amazing makes and no one could make up their mind! But!!! you're gonna love this weeks Challenge even better, because it's... drum roll please Sid....

Furry Friends!!

Okay, so my sneak peak didn't give anything away. (But then again, it wasn't meant to!!) How do you like this cute furry teddy bear with his best friend, the dragon. I like dragons!
The image is by the lovely Janette and is called George and the Dragon, and here he is in his Knights Templar outfit... ok, so George wasn't a Knight's Temple, but many people believe they held high regard for him, which is very puzzling, as St George is only a legend, but then, George wasn't a Teddy Bear either!!

I just think this makes a lovely little boy's birthday Card and if his birthday party's are anything like my girl's birthday party's used to be, thirty little kids, themed, fancy dress, what better than having a 'George and the Dragon Party', where all the boys can be knights, (and stab each other with their swords) and all the girls can be damsels in distress, with long flowing party dresses!! (or, to be politically correct... the other way round, if they want to!!)

Bit of trivia- the sword that supposedly killed the Dragon was called Ascalon the name also used by Winston Churchill for his personal aircraft during World War 2. you never know, that might come in handy one day.

Back to the card. I've sort of followed a sketch from over on Card Making and Paper Crafts ... but...not quite! Because they had a space for a sentiment and I don't think this needs one, so I've added the buttons instead. I've used, Pink Petticoat papers (I'm on a mission to use all my printed pp papers! and some of them have been in my folders for years!) I inked all the edges with dark blue chalk ink. Martha Stewart cobweb punch. The Image, as I said, is by Stamping Dragon Designs. I coloured it using my Promaker pens. The banner was made by scribbling colours on to card and then just drawing triangles and cutting them out... and yes... I spelt birthday wrong! But then again I always do! Luckily I spotted it and managed to put it right without ripping any backing paper (phew-grrr, but a lot more than that came out of my craft room this morning!!)

I had it in my head that I would use a 'heart' punch for the little flags, bend the top over the gold cord and just leave the pointy bits but (!!!) out of all my trillion punches, I've only got a large thin one and two very small fat ones, no good at all. So I just scribbled some colours and drew in the little triangle's...and then you (not me) stick the flags on with tiny 3D foam squares, in the right order to spell 'Happy Birthday' or in my case, Happy Brithday.

I re-took the photo's this morning with the sun just peeping over the bungalow roof. I quite like the shadows it makes! (or...maybe I should pretend that I drew them!)
Have fun with this challenge, remember you can do any crafty thing you want... ATC, Scrapbook page, Fatpage, Exploding box, Inchie, Tag, Card, Altered Art, anything crafty to include a furry friend! (But please don't cover your guinea pig with PVA glue!!)
