Jinks In The Garden

I've been out in the garden most of the day, and when I wasn't in the garden I was somewhere else. Got bitten to bugg -er? I mean... bits, the other evening. Sis-law, Deb said, "Lyn you should drink Gin and Tonic, then the midgies won't bite!"
Mmm? thinks me...Really? Surely they still have to bite you to know they don't like you. "It's the Quinine in the tonic, they don't like it." "What's the Gin do?" I ask."Makes it taste better!"
So, all day long I've been drinking Tonic water (without the gin, honest!) I've counted me midgie bites, let's see if there's any more tomorrow!
Bought loads of plants from the BOGOF, buy one get one free, from B&Q on Saturday (Big store that sells all sorts for those not this side of the pond) So of course all those little flowers have to get planted.
Quick lesson on planting up your hanging baskets Lyn style... First, find last years baskets... they could be anywhere! Then, take a rake and rake off the moss from the front lawn to use to line the baskets once you've found them... then get a helper, (enter Jinksy the Lodger cat) who...just like my old cat Frog used to do...helps by.....
rolling and rolling...all over the grass...
saying "stroke me stroke me..."
"I'm so cute"
... bored now
....time for a nap!
So, back to the garden.. after taking out last years soil from the baskets (I know, that should've been done last year...) And putting it somewhere where it can be put to good use (In with my potatoes in the green house, they need more soil) Try and keep as much as the old moss as possible, coz it should all be nicely matted to a good bit of soil. Add more moss where needed to repair any gaps. Looks like a big birds nest doesn't it?! I've cut a circle from a plastic compost bag to line the bottom of the basket to catch the water, but that's all, once the soil and plants are in place the moss holds it all in... then grab more flowers and stick 'em in, filling up with fresh soil as you go.
After a bit it should look like this... only better. I did three of these hanging baskets, about four other pots and twelve wall baskets and the boat. Well I did say it was Buy One Get One Free... I'll show you those when they've grown a bit!

A Cheesy WOYWW for Ewe

Morning! (((wave)) And just as I said last week, and the week before, it's Wednesday...again!! Hubby wants me to make a digi CD and get my Never Ending Story on line... I've been writing it for a million years. (It's not a Novel, it's a obsession!) I have promised him November, he thought I meant last November.. Huh! How can I, when every day is a Wednesday?? What I need a Freeday. Monday, Tuesday, Freeday ....do you think it will catch on?
I'm not here, this is on timer.... and this is my workbench round about midnight last night/this morning. On there this week is.... a box of cheese....no, John's eaten all that. Aw, it's such a nice box I keep some of my die-cuts in it. The rest are in my new Useful Box... AND my new Tim Holtz bird cage die-cut thingy! I just had to have it! I've actually been working on my dining table again this week and it's far too messy to show you (and John's sitting in there in his 'necessaries' at the moment) so I'll just let you imagine what it looks like, (the table that is, not John) as whatever you image, it will look tidier than it really is! (or even scarier)
So?? Fancy joining in with the BIGGEST Blog Hop anywhere?? Nip over to Julia's Stamping Ground and join in with What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday!! But be warned, it's addictive!!

I know I didn't get round that many of you last week, Frog, my cat wasn't well, and by Thursday we had to take her to the vet. Sadly she is now in Kitty heaven. Her Grandmother was a champion Persian, who 'got out' one day and had Frog's mum by an unknown tom! (scandal!!) Frog had six kitten's in her first year, and would've been 19 years old this September. She was named Frog, after Sally Field, who was nick-named Frog in Smoky and The Bandit. She was often called Porker, but she wasn't fat, she just had short legs! She also liked chasing frogs around the pond. I'll miss my little crafty helper.

Hubby has caught the blogging bug and at last has started his blog!! He's putting all his silly stories in there. Many years ago he used to write these true (sort of) but silly stories for the local free paper. Sometimes I'd do a cartoon to go with it. He's called it The Blog Wot I Wrote, because he's a fan of Morecombe and Wise...(you'll have to read his profile!) Nothing there yet, but watch that space!
Last weeks freebie was by far the favourite one ever, so any idea's for next weeks is always welcome! Thanks for stopping by!

Sorry You Missed this one, there's a new freebie on the newest Wednesday post, join in with Spot The Difference and win a digi.

The Wasp's Nest

I was feeling quite good today. The aliens hadn't landed, the rain had stopped, the fish were behaving and just a little wind blew the beans about a bit, so I thought, (which is always a bad sign) I'd get out in the garden and cut the beech hedge. It was looking like it needed a hair cut. First I jammed the lead for the electric hedge cutters in the front door, coursing the glass to crack. This should have been a warning! But no, off I went with the hedge cutter (armed like something out of the chainsaw massacre) and attacked the hedge with the zest of a happy hare, cutting it like a knife through butter. Frog the cat came out to help. And then it happened. "OW!" yelled me, and dropped the hedge cutters. Suddenly I was surrounded by two dozen very angry wasps! Frog the cat ran away . Luckily I was only stung once, as I retreaded waving my arms and yelling,
"Agh! Go away!!" The wasps returned to their newly built home. One stayed on guard and any attempt by me to finish cutting the hedge was met by a dozen yellow striped guards waving their stingers at me! So...of course I just had to take a picture!
