Get Well Dad, With A Dustin Doodle.

First, sorry no blogging for the last few days, my longest ever I think, couldn't be helped. Thank you to everyone who left kind comments, my dad has been moved to a different ward. He's had 'Echo's, Xrays, Scans' and lord knows what else but at least he's looking sooo much better!
Of Course I just had to make Dad a get well card and I knew I had this little poorly owl somewhere so hunted him out to use in one of Dustin's Challenges. Very chuffed I won last time!! But once again, I only have a few hours to enter! (thank goodness America is still in Yesterday as I type!) Hope I'm not too late, but never mind, I love Dustin's Doodles. If you haven't found him yet, where have you been?!?
The challenge was to use a Dustin Pike Digi and the colour Green. So here we have a green card with (two) DP digi's, ticking all the boxes, I hope!
I've used Serif, Picnic in The Park papers from a stack free with Simply Cards and PaperCraft Magazine last month.
I printed out the little sick owl three times, coloured using my Promarkers, (different shades of green) used my Nesties on the first one, cut out the other two to make a bit of a 3D effect.
The font (as always) is a freebie. It's called Frosty and one I've used before ages ago so you should have it. (Great for Christmas cards too) You can download it HERE. Other places are available just Google the name.
The insert, if you popped over earlier you'll notice I've changed. (If you use Photo Glue it pulls out very easily without tearing) There's now another Dustin Doodle on one side, a cute little bug, it comes already coloured and in black and white, you should find him HERE.
I quickly put him (The bug) into PaintNet (also free!) to type in the sentiment. 'Sorry You Caught A Bug' This font is also a freebie, it's called Billy Bear's Crayons. I've typed it in bold and you can download it HERE. There's quite a few other freebie 'kiddie' type fonts on this website you might like too! (Or just Google the name)
Hope dad likes his card, off in a minute to collect Mum and then it's back to the hospital again. Just wish it was closer! Have a great 'Holiday' weekend.

The Wednesday Watch!

It's Wednesday again and time to join in with the stampede over to Julia's Stamping Ground and WOYWW and show us all your crafty mess, I mean, desks, worktops, floors, beds, under-the-stairs-cupboards, dining tables etc etc...
Mine I'm afraid is a mess, as always. There is a pic of me in a bee costume taken ohooo at last 93 years ago and a cartoon copy of two naughty geese someone asked me to do ages ago. So not much happening. John says, he'd do my post this week and tell the truth about what's really on my worktop?!?
Old socks, jumpers, sandwich crusts, damp tea towels, cold cups of tea and look on the floor, the poor door stop bunny has died!! (not really, he's just fallen over)
Honestly men! Don't they realise we have to make a mess to create! (well, I do!) but the truth is my dad's been taken ill and is in hospital so no time to craft. S0 it's a Short Post this week. (yay!)
Stay fit! I'm at work, this is on timer...Thanks for dropping by!

Scruffy Ted. Hope you like him. Please don't share my digi's, send people here to download them. I'd love to see anything you make using him. Please leave a comment, because comments make me happy and I draw more when I'm happy!! Any reference or links back to Spyder's Corner are very much appreciated!
Thank You for stopping by!

Quirky Challenge Card #3

Morning, (afternoon, evening, depending where you are!) Here's my third Quirky Craft's DT for this fortnight's Challenge, using digi images from our sponsor The Cutter Cafe and one of the sketches from a choice of two. I think I might add some flowers, gottta have flowers!
The digi set is from the spring collection, and comes both coloured or uncoloured. Because of the little bird swinging from his house I thought it would make a nice little 'New Home' card.
Once more I've used Pink Petticoat papers, three different ones this time. Nestabilities, Martha Stewart punch and a Cuttle bug die-cut. Candi, gems and ribbon from stash. The ribbon was recycled from a box of chocolates, (throw nothing away!) Once again I've used 3D foam squares to pop the digi topper from the card.
The font I've used may look familiar. It's very very small so this was typed out quite large It's a freebie, it's called, Coca Cola ii and you can download that HERE or just Goggle the name. There's also one which comes with an extra long flurry a long the bottom of the C, called Loki Cola that can be downloaded HERE
That's it for now. I did have some challenges in mind for both/all these Quirky DT cards but just want to check they aren't already over!

Quirky Challenge Card #2

Here's my second card for this fortnights sketch, set by me, over on Quirky Crafts Challenge, using the digi's from our sponsor Cutting Cafe.
This time I've mixed Bazzil Basics Paper in 'Cool Heather' with two different Pink Petticoat papers in lilac.
I've used Nestabilities, Woodware and Martha Stewart punches, a few lilac gems, plus silver sequins and purple brads for the centre of the flowers..
This time the corner was cut using a Cuttlebug die cutting set- 'Vintage'
There's two sketches to choose from in this challenge. I used the same sketch as before. (See post below) Sketch 2 and have added the extra leaves. The clock and the outter words are fixed by 3D foam pads, to give them a little extra pop , making this a quick and very easy 'Thank You Card, and that's about it!
Back later with the third card for the same Quirky challenge using the other sketch! Bye for now.

It's Not A Quirky Sketch, it's Two!

Evening everyone! Hope you've had a fabulous weekend.
It's that Quirky Time again. The challenge should've started over on Quirky Craft's Challenge Blog, that's if I've pressed the right button, because it's my turn to set the challenge this time. And, yes, you guessed, it's....
a sketch!
(No surprise there then!) I always do a sketch, but this time, I've given you a choice. We have Two Sketches! (Wooo weee!) You can use either one or both of them if you wish, we don't mind, the more the merrier!
This time round we're kindly being sponsored by...

The Cutting Cafe

The cutting cafe blinkie

I've made three cards in all, using some of their digi downloads. Out of the three, this one is my favourite. The other cards are on the challenge blog and I'll post them here later.
I've used a black blank card, which is just under 6"x6" and covered it first with Dovecraft silver miri board and Dovecraft backing paper, which I found out, (after using them to do a bit of paper piecing) you can print your digi's straight onto them, throw on some clear embossing power and heat set it and it looks as though you've stamped it! The paper feels quite 'waxy' so maybe that's a clue.
I've used 'It's about the Time, Clocks' set from The Cutting Cafe and used my Nesties and Woodward punches to die cut and punch out the clocks.
I've used the top sketch, for this card just in case you hadn't noticed! So, there you go. We won't mind if you want to add a few more bits and bobs. I've added flowers and leaves to one of my other cards, which I'll show you later or of course, you can pop over to Quirky Craft's and join in now!

Just a Quirky Peek.

Evening! just popped in to say Hi. Well, no I didn't, but I will! "Hi dear reader!" Of course I know I'm talking to myself, you've all got your feet up watching the telly! (By the time this gets posted you'll all be asleep! wake up! It's only one o'clock in the morning!! The night is young!)
Just thought I'd add a sneak peek of my tomorrow's Quirky Craft's DT cards because it's my turn to set the Challenge and seeing 'Orange' has texted us today saying they'll be taking us off line over night while they upgrade...hmmm, over night? I've heard that before... all week most like!! So if you never hear from me again, you'll know why! (No Internet!)
What d'you think? About the challenge? For one thing you know it'll be easy. There's certainly numbers, there's pink and there's also black. Ah but that's not a clue, you'll just have to pop back again tomorrow.
Yay! New Followers! Hi and a big {{{wave}}} Squishes fromTina. Scrappynetta, and Lynnette who's a Manicstitcher! How nice, everyone has links!
Anyone out the back? Yes, Bevelevy, with no link but I think, by the power of Google, lives in Australia! (Of course if I'm wrong you know where I am! ) Thank you for stopping by! Especially all those of you from across the pond!

Another Tri-fold For Tom's Birthday!

It's Tom's Birthday tomorrow (Friday) so of course I've made him a tri-fold card using my (old) Ultimate Crafter's Companion. He's such a big kid and he likes teddy bears, so I've made him a card using this Dustin Pike Birthday Bear. Yes, I know it's very much like the one I made for Dustin's Challenge last week ( I won!!) but if you're on a roll, I say, keep going! So, another tri-fold card with the back fixed to make a pocket so I could add a tag.
This time I used a green, not hammered card but one that had a 'hammery' look about it. Used a mixture of green gingham papers, which were both free,. One with Paper Craft Essentials Magazine this month in a paper stack and one you'll find HERE.
I've added mock stitching, two of Dustin's digi's, the bear and the cake. I've 3D-ed the balloons, the bears head, his hand holding the cake and the front of the box he's sitting in. Added a frog button I brought back with me from USA, probably from Ben Franklin along with the little car brad and my Nestabilities 'Classic Scalloped Circles Large, which I used inside the card. I haven't got one of those 'embossing' mats, so I use a bit of thick card, it works just the same.
The bottom font inside the card and used on the tag, is called 1942 report. Looks like I've used an old typewriter. You can download it for free, HERE
The top font actually on the outside and the inside cos of the fold, is called BeanBag and you can download that for free HERE.
I didn't have green candi, so I coloured them with a Promarker, and because they were made with pearl card they've stayed shimmery.
I know this is for Tom ...but I actually made this card with Top Tip Tuesday's latest Challenge in mind. One for the Kids. I'll add my Tuesday tip as well! Like killing two stones with one bird! The tag says, 'This entitles you to one Birthday surprise!'
Well, before we've sent him off to race cars round a racing track, canoeing, a Monty Python 'Spamalot show because he didn't think he could manage the archery we'd fixed up as he'd hurt his shoulder. Unknown to us he was already very good at archery and has since taken it up again. So this year we thought how about bungee jumping? hahaha...no.... not that...I'll tell you later, otherwise it won't be a surprise!

Wednesday's WOY's!

Morning! (afternoon, evening) Happy WoYwW everybody, hope you're all well and fighting fit! (what does that actually mean?) What's On Yours this week? Here's my mess, I mean, creativeness. All this and only three cards to show for it! But, as hubby has noticed, I haven't ventured out into the other rooms of the house since my move into the bigger room, although he did say this (yesterday) evening (I'm typing this Tuesday night, as I have to be at 'work' first thing) that no matter what size room I have, it would never be big enough! A shop would be good! My pictures are... to the left, to the right and on the floor!
So, if you feel the sudden urge to show about a trillion people, a few cats, some dogs and a monkey your workdesk, pop over to Julia's Stamping Ground and join in! That's it!! A short post!! (for me) Three cheers!! (Stop typing then!) Ok! Bye for now, thank you for stopping by!

Oops...There were five houses but somewhere between here and somewhere else I lost one of them! Never mind, no one will notice! (See that gap were that tree is? That's where the missing house was.)

Essentially Sweet Wishes to Pam

It was supposed to be a bit of a play on words. The Title. Essentially because I've used papers from a paper stack called 'Sweet Wishes' and some cute clear stamps by PinkPetticoat both free from PaperCraft Essentials this month.
I don't normally get this one, as it's a £1 over my limit, but I do like the mag and this month's freebies were definitely worth it!
I had to make a very quick card in answer to an invitation from a second cousin of John's, Pam, who'll be eighty next week. (She doesn't look or act eighty!) Basically when he was born, she was just twenty one. She's called him 'Tuppenny' ever since! (because of his curls)
"Have you replied to Pam yet?" asked John late this afternoon, "No! Forgot!"
With less that an hour to the last post of the day, I very quickly made this card and rushed up to the Post Office. (I always seem to be chasing the Postman!) Shapes punched out using Woodware punches, coloured with Promarkers, a bit of 3D-ing, a bit of inking around the edges, candi dots fixed on with foam pads this time, hmmm... bit raised, I'll use thinner foam pads or silicone glue next time. It would've had flowers, but there was no time. I used my Quitekutz for the R.S.P.V....which I keep thinking I've spelt wrong!
*** yep, too late now, the card's gone! Thank you Tabitha! It means, (and I shall never forget now!) répondez s'il vous plaît, meaning “reply please” or "please respond" and it should read R.S.V.P. !! (oops!)
New Follower! Hi and a big {{wave}} to AK Hoynes! (no link) ** Up date! Angela from Crafting With Jack! Angela draws digi's! Thank you for stopping by! See you tomorrow!

Tuesday'sTip

Double sided Sellotape and 3D double sided foam tape. Very useful and very sicky sometimes! Because Double sided tape seems to have over doubled in price these last few years (Tesco's has!) I only tend to use it when I really need something to stick fast! (like when I make my shakers cards) so, to make it repositionable, I smear a bit of glue-stick over it. You can then move it about and get it nice and straight! Once the glue stick has dried the double-sided tape or the 3D foam tape will stick nicely without any wonkiness!
I've added this tip to the Top Tip Tuesday Challenge

Dustin's Challenge & links to Freebies

I made this card in the week using Dustin's freebie, Dudley and his power wheels, only of course, blogger went down and I forgot, and now there's only a few hours left in the challenge! So, quick type faster !!! (Luckily it's still yesterday in America!)
I took a piece of bronze coloured card and scored it as a tri-fold, but fixed down the back to make a pocket. I only just decided to do that so the tag inside isn't finished yet as I'm not sure what I'm going to put on it, probably something like, 'The bearer of this ticket gets to eat birthday cake' with some birthday money tucked inside somewhere. Lots of mock stitching in white gel pen and brown Staedtler triplus fine-liner. My last Sunday's card had stitching, and that was leather look brown. I like the two together, specially for male cards. I've added those candi dots in brown and a key-hole (Woodware brad) they also come with keys. The button spanner come with other tools. I've cut off the button bits on the back and fixed it on with silicone glue.
The inky looking paper on the top fold was a freebie years ago. It came from ScrapGirls, always worth a visit! They have a new look to their site. The link leads to their freebies.
The brown gingham paper is also a freebie from Activity Village (link also on my side bar) the font is a freebie Pea Johanna Script. I've already linked it before, it's on my side bar too but you can download it HERE.
I'll add 'up-date' pictures of the tag later, and will put more things inside the card once I know who's going to receive it. It does look a bit plain... maybe another digi. Yes, I've added Dustin's Birthday cake, you'll find it here!
Hey it's Tom's birthday next Friday! (son-in-law) I'm actually looking for an archer. I might have to draw one. Tom's really into his bows and arrows! That's it for now! Thank you for stopping by!

Life's A Beach!

Happy Friday The 13th! A Good day...until my tooth cracked again (oh poo!) Obviously the super glue trick didn't work! (** Hamish called it 'magic glue!' It was only temporary, but I think even he thought it would last longer than a week! but!! it was Friday the 13th! and I wasn't eating thick lumps of chocolate, honest!!)
Back to the card!! I made this card for Bugaboo's first Wacky Wednesday Challenge over on Bugaboo Stamps- Crafter's Digital Art Center. It's a Colour Challenge this time, red, yellow and turquoise. So I thought I'd have ago.
Here's my card with that cute little monkey having a swim, although I always thought monkey's didn't like water. The stripy boarder was just scribbled round the edge of the card and coloured with Promarkers. I added a bit of reddish/pink spotty paper and although I was looking for some buckets and spades, I did find a seagull, so fixed that on with a dob of silicone glue. (Cut it's button legs off first) Then did a bit of 3D-ing on the monkey, printed him out four times, so there's a whole image of him cut out using a scalloped Nestie and then one minus ears and tail ( It's a digi! It didn't hurt him!) one with just his head and then just his nose.
I've added a bit of my own background, coloured that with Promakers too.
The font is a freebie. I rather like this one! It's called Pea Johanna Script, link to this site is always on my side bar but I know how lazy you are so you can download it from Kevin and Amanda's blog
Anything else? The pale blue boat paper you can just see inside is a freebie, (I'll probably change it as it doesn't really go with those bright colours on the front)...you can download it from Mad About Cards... and that I think, is it!
Phew, second time I've typed this out, so glad blogger is up and running again!
Once more, as the post below this one, there were a few challenges I had added, but I'll have to check them out again, so will add them later. Happy Friday everyone, have a great week end! Thanks for stopping by. A Card For Dylan is HERE

A Card For Dylan.

Aaggh! at last we're back! Hope blogger is feeling better and everyone's back on line! There was a few jittery people on the forums I can tell you! Here's my card For Dylan. It's now on it's way, to the USA...via Dustin Pike, hopefully not too late, as our Postie can be a bit slow sometimes! (Unless of course I'm chasing after him because he's taken the last post a bit early!) If you missed my post about a 'call for cards, scroll down a bit and if you missed Dustin's Post, all about Dylan you'll find it here!
I've made another pull up, pop up, fold up easel, tag card...The link on how to make it is on my Sunday Quirky Post, but I have made a picture tutorial, which I'll be posting later, if it's any good! (but because blogger was a bit poorly I'm afraid I've lost that post in draft so will have to make it again)
I used a pearl card to make this as I knew I'd be using my Promarkers, as they don't bleed on pearl card. As you can see I've used Dustin's Digi and drew in a few extra vines all over the card, added a few punched out leaves and butterflies (Woodware) and some Stickles Glitter. And that's about it really! No backing papers at all. The font is a freebie, it's called Pinewood. Download it HERE. I think it looks better on the computer than it does when printed out, but that may be my old printer, (my new printer has 'posh' ink' which smudges when coloured) I did have a few challenges in mind but will have to go and hunt them out again (bother!) so I'll add them later. I've put this post to come out on Thursday as it would have done if blogger hadn't gone down! New Followers (woohohoo 550!...welll there was! ) Hi and a big {{wave}} to Jenny S with Just Jenny's Little World Hi Jenny! I remember all those birds!
