Emma, Debs and Pat, shaking up a cocktail! |
Haven't joined in with T stands for Tuesday for a while as we've been away or had four legged furballs staying over, but I have been saving up some pictures... It was hubby's birthday so we nipped off down to Cornwall for a long weekend with the rest of our family and stayed in a lovely place, with plenty of room for us all. There was even a hot tub on the roof! I forgot to take pictures but someone did! Above, we're all dressed in Hawaiian shirts, mixing up drinks... below, the next day, me with daughter Emma, getting ready on the zip wire at Eden! (Yes, I screamed all the way! I'm so scared of heights! Video on Wednesday)
On the Sunday, John's Birthday, we had a lovely meal at Steins in Padstow (very expensive!) and after our starters and main courses, John was surprised with his birthday cake. The design was influenced by the Military Road on the Isle of Wight, his favourite road to ride his Silverwing motorbike. There's a little motorbiker driving along the road. (we haven't eaten him yet!)
Then the waiters brought out some extra treats!
We did have starters and main courses, but I forgot to take pictures! The next day, they all went home and we drove down to Polperro (walked down to the village) and then visited a few places during the week. This 'Rook with a Book' was in Fowey.
Then visits to a ruined castle and some standing stones and of course, loads of craft shops!
I'll show you my crafty finds tomorrow! So! Pop over to Alteredbooklover to see more of what Crafty people get up to!
Good evening, sounds like a fantastic time with family and friends to celebrate birthday too. Love the cake-it's amazing what the cake decorators do now. Happy T
ReplyDeleteAn amazing birthday holiday, lots of fab memories and a brilliant cake.
ReplyDeleteThe Rook with a Book is interesting. When I clicked on the image, I could read about the statue, and its connection to author Daphne duMaurier. The photos in the blog post seem very crowded by all the side bar stuff, wish I could see them better.

What a fabulous way to celebrate your husband's birthday. Not just the expensive meal, but the entire trip and things you got to share together. I am afraid of heights, so you wouldn't get me on a zipline. I applaud your courage.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your trip to Cornwall, the Rook with a Book sculpture, the standing stones, John's birthday, and the wine you shared with us for T this Tuesday, dear Lyn. Happy belated birthday to John, too.
Lyn, I'm not sure my rather long comment published. Please let me know if it didn't.
ReplyDeleteYou are brave for certain. I don't know if I could do a zip line as I don't like heights. But you can say you did it-that is fantastic. And wow, what a fun party. That cake is adorable. It sounds like a great weekend away and a fun way to celebrate. Have a great first day of summer and happy T day too. Plus it was good to see you back for T Spyder. hugs-Erika

ReplyDeleteLooks like a great birthday celebration. That cake is awesome. Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteWow, so much delicious food here. I am wanting a taste. Your are brave to go on a zip line if you are afraid of heights. I am in the same boat but would not be trying to overcome my fear. Haha. A hot tub anywhere sounds like fun but especially on the roof.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Day,
Kate
Looks like you all had a fun time! Hope he had a fabulous birthday! Awesome cake! You are so brave to do the zip line! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant trip. I love Cornwall- we used to rent a cottage so we could visit relatives in that area when family got too big to stay with any of them

ReplyDeleteWill have to come back and see what happened just then! Happy T Day, Chrisx
Just saw your comment and question. In the first kitchen photo, although it is hard to see, there are two rocking horses showing in the form of cookie cutters (below and to the right of then window). In the second photo, there are two showing. One is a napkin holder on the shelf and one has hooks on which I hang keys. It's on the wall next to the door. I have them everywhere in my kitchen, but more in every room of the house. I have about 480 now, but I count your die you sent me as one and pictures people have sent me, too. They come in all shapes, sizes, and materials, including a ribbon with rocking horses on it.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you all had a really good time. Love the cake and the other desserts. Edwina Brown
ReplyDeleteOh looks like you had such a great time. Cornwall is lovely. ( I spent my early childhood in St Ives, in the 50s).
ReplyDeleteThat zip wire thing looks very exciting. Would love to do that! But you are obviously not too sure. Good for you that you still did it in spite of your reservations.
What did you eat at Rick Stein's? Fish? And oh that cake!! It is amazing!!
Happy belated T-Day,
Lisca
