Despite the date of 2013, I'm hoping this year will be a lucky one! My New year resssulations, (I'll find out how to spell that in a minute) resolutions ( i wasn't far out!) is to finish things I start...okay...that's going to be a very hard one for me!!
I start tons of things and ....finish...maybe less than half... maybe a dozen? Ok...two, well, no, just one this last year. I did get hubby's This is Your life in Pictures journal done (just)
But I've been meaning to redo my first WOYWW birthday Project, (remember that??) because mine was never finished. I made a lazy Susan out of an old cupboard turntable (It had another layer on top, which broke) and cardboard coffee cups...but the cups had narrow bottoms, and not much could fit in... so my new idea was to use Bisto cartons, and at last I have enough to start!! (I like Knorr better...but they don't come in cartons)
Now? Do I spray paint first, or just get in there with a big brush and a fat dab of acrylic paint and smother the lot? So that's what's sitting on my Very late woyww desk this week! (and a Christmas card I forgot to post) oops! and some pegs I used to hang up Christmas cards. And, an unstuck cheepy Christmas cracker I was going to use as a template to make my own...but didn't...(see what I mean...I'm rubbish!) So, I'm showing you the start of my new Lazy Susan turn table...maybe you can nag me to finish it by next week!
Now, seeing it's a start of a new year why not come and join in! See you there!! at the Stamping Ground!! Happy New Year To All WOYWWERS!!!
Freebie is coming....Honest!!!
No nagging about finishing but stop...the abusive self talk. That's rubbish.

THank you Lyn for sharing your workdesk. I actually tidied mine yesterday (a bit anyway) and now have enough room to comfortably work on my cards! I did something similar with Drinking Chocolate cartons. I painted mine first with a layer of Gesso which covered over the brand name and also gave the paint something to adhere to.
ReplyDeleteHi Lyn I love your lazy susan idea. I think I would decoupage it but then I do like to make life difficult for myself, painting would be far quicker. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteAll the best for a creative 2013, hugs Erika. 59
I won't nag you Lyn about your projects, because I think a lot of us do that! Plus, I'm afraid you might nag me back! (I have a list of "to-do projects a mile long!) I bet your lazy Susan project turns out great, and so useful and practical too! Are the little clothespins to make a card hanger? What a great idea! You have such a creative mind! I love when people repurpose things for other uses instead of throwing them out. Although, it's a fine line with me, because I have to be careful not to accumulate too much, so I can keep my house tidy. At least you have vision, I sometimes keep things thinking I'll use them for "something", and never do. Looking forward to seeing your future projects. I don't like to nag; I like to encourage! :)
ReplyDeletehmm your consomme(comments auto correction typo so cute it must be kept in) box is misbehaving, but I have the gremlin beaten and Will wish you a happier new year, you had such a nerve wracking 2012,

I think I like the idea of the lazy susan and the Bisto canisters. Are they cardboard or plastic material? I was at WalMart before Christmas and found some drink mix that is in rectangular plastic containers that I actually like and I decided to buy three to get the boxes to hold my pencils in. Recycle I say... I think there is the first empty on on my desk to see. Hope you have a Happy and Prosperous New Year! Look forward to your posts in 2013! Vickie #17
ReplyDeleteThis place is a mess and I love it. Look at all those fun toys. Heavenly!
ReplyDeleteWell that's a great resolution Lyn, I am not joining you for that, I already know how bad I'll be at it!! love the bistro containers...and I'm a dab at it with a ig old brush gal...not least CMOS I won't have to prepare a special spray paint area which would involve practically moving house at this stage!!
ReplyDeleteI love your space, so very much going on! Happy new year!
