I want to tell you where I got the paper from but I can't remember. It's saved in a folder on my computer, all on it's own, called Patch Work. I only found it when I was looking for the backing (with Looney Lyn on it) to my ATC's, I thought, that's nice, print it out now, because you'll forget where it is when you want it. So I did.
***UPDate Thank you Susan, you were right!! Patchwork paper is a freebie by Bearly Mine Designs! (Click the link to go there)I've just gone and bought the whole set, coz it's lovely!
Trouble with paper that comes on it's own, is, matching other papers to it. I guess I could've used PinkPetticoat, they have a lot of 'solid' colours but I did a bit of dipping with the tool that looks like an eye dropper, touched the blue and the pink and made a couple of squares of solid colour, just big enough to do a bit of matting and layering.
I also had a play with another 'tool' wasn't sure what it did or what it's called, but I was able to 'take out' the four middle squares and then colour them in with the pink and blue, and Type straight onto them, for the inside sentiment. Clever...well, it is for me!
Now, I cut the patch work to fit the card, but, this meant one side of it would not have the cross-stitch, so I cut another strip and after cutting a border down the other side (which wasn't necessary) fitted it over what was there so it looked like the cross-stitch goes all the way round the card. You can see on the inside, the cut edge, where I didn't add an extra strip of patchwork to make the stitching go all the way around. Looks like real stitching, doesn't it! (It's not)
I coloured a LOTV image (free with a Crafty mag some months back) with some water colour pencils. These are just cheap ones, not good. Saving up for some better water colour pencils, because some times Promarkers are just too strong a colour.
I punched the flowers and fern leaves from the scraps of paper left over, added a butterfly, some buttons, eyelash-wool, some spotty blue ribbon, a lacy doily and a dash of baby blue Stickles Glitter.

The freebie fonts I used on the inside of the card were, on the pink, Gigi and on the blue, Round Hand DB which is a nice 'hand writing' type font. And that's it!

Cute card!!!
ReplyDeleteJust noticed your 2 other comments on my blog, Lyn! Thanks! Glad you're getting some Inktense pencils. They are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAs for the ATC swap, I did wonder whether it would be possible to sneak in late... I want to do some zentangle ATCs anyway, and also some ink-wiht-resist backgrounds, so maybe people wouldn't be averse to swapping with me, even after the event? I know some people made absolutely loads of ATCs and I don't suppose they swapped them all...
Love your mum's card, btw. Hope she liked it too.
