It's WOYWW Time Again!

Welcome WOYWWers! Happy Leap Year Day!! And for those of you who's birthday it is today...ah shame! I did get round most of you last week, but only commented on about half. Sorry! What with 'Problem Loading Page' and the comment box not opening and now, most of you seem have a double word puzzle to get through... You would not believe how many times I try to type in the letters before I get it right. Why do they have to be so fuzzy?!? (That's because you had the wrong glasses on Lyn) Anyway!!! Thank you to everyone who called in. Hope you're all fit and well! Here's my mess this week! Yep, just noticed, that yellow punch is still there! (That's what I swapped for the yellow lid last week! Nuff say! I've given up on trying to tidy it up! If you want to join in too. Take a pic of your crafty space and link up with The Stamping Ground!! That's it! It's very late... and I haven't drawn the Freebie yet! Bye for now! Thanks for stopping by!

ZzzZzzing In The Garden (Part Two) Secret Revealed!

It's funny how making one card, leads to making more cards and gives you more ideas. I always said when I used to draw my strip cartoons, 'every cartoon should create at least five more' so the drawing of a daily cartoon for a newspaper should come easy!
A few posts down I showed you how I made my double Z Card. (This'll be the last one, honest!) In that first post I also showed you a picture of the same style of card, facing the other way, in fact, backwards. Well, this gave me another idea. Because you have to join two cards together, you are in fact, if you don't cover it all in glue, creating or able to create, a pocket! A little secret place at the back of the card (Or in this case, at the front!)
In fact so secret, it might be missed! So with a bit of snipping and punching on one of these back parts of the card, then colouring the edge of the pearl card with black, to give the illusion of matting. (Promarkers don't bleed though pearl card) and hey presto, I've made two cards out of one idea.
Same papers as the card below. (Kate Knight) Not so much add ons because it would make it too bulky, because, this is the same card. Of course if this was a completely new card (with nothing on the other side) I would then add more to this side. It could do with a couple of flowers, couldn't it!?! There is glitter!
The font is a freebie. It's called Hybrid Hibiscus
Inside the pocket, I was going to push a thin packet of seeds. Off I went to hunt one down, knowing I had loads of seed packets somewhere. Could find any?? No! And then, (made a cup of tea, biscuits, etc) forgot all about talking the photo of the pocket!
Anyway...fast forward... I've now used the pocket to hide some money! (Not much, coz I'm broke!)
The image I used this time is Hedgie with His Sunflower...(One of mine!) Hedgie has been 3D-ed. I printed the first PNG image straight onto the sky background.
Hope you like my 'Hidden Pocket Backward Double Z Card... there's a mouthful! One tip I have is, this image is only fixed to the card at the top, so that when you close it and tie the ribbon it can still go under the topper. Oh and here's the card naked after edging it with a black Promarker...That's it! Secret Revealed! Thank you for stopping by!

ZzZzzzing In The Garden.

Yes, I'm Snooozzzing in the garden, not! but it is very sunny so I could be! The bee's are buzzing and the flowers have started coming through, so I should be in the garden...but...well...it's nicer here in my Craft Room (with the Visiting Cat fast asleep next to me!)
I've made another Double Z card, so thought I'd show you, and at the same time remind you about Quirky Craft's latest challenge. "First Signs of Spring" AND to use a double Z card! (I've shown you how I made mine in the post below) Don't forget to read the Quirky Rules!
This time I've used some papers from a 6x6 paper stack, which came free with CardMaking & Paper Craft Magazine a while back. They're by Kate Knight called Totally Tropical Summer Papers. It's worth a visit as they always have loads of freebie papers to download. The little sticker is from a set, which was also a freebie from the same magazine ages ago.
The Blue sky papers came from....(Hang on, just looking!) 'Let's Fly Away' 6x6 paper Stack freebie with Quick Cards Made Easy Magazine, also a little while back.
I've used my own digi 'Hedgie with His Watering Can', I've 3D-ed him and coloured him with Promarkers. I've also coloured the flowers and the fern leaves with Promarkers too.
The freebie font I used inside the card is called Good Dog, you can download two types of it HERE
I've added Stickles Glitter to the papers to add a bit of bling and also used Nesties, Memory-Box, XCut and Martha Stewart Dies and Punches. Ribbon and that odd tangle of wool is from my stash. I've made this card with a couple of challenges in mind...making sure I don't enter too many others! Oopps, nearly forgot!! This card hides a secret! I'll show you what in the next post!! (I forgot to take the picture!) Thank you for dropping by!!

Quick, How To Make A Double Z Card (No measurements! )

I promised a quick tutorial on how to make a Double Z card in the post below this one...so...here it is! Hopefully you'll find it very easy to do. I'll add this to my 'Pages' post at the top of the blog so you can find it if you ever want to be reminded!1. Chose two blank cards, any size and fold both fronts in half. Use a bone folder if you have one to make a nice crisp edge, but don't worry if you haven't. Add some double sided tape to one of the unfolded backs, or whatever glue you like to use. I find PVA glue seems to make it 'bendy' I know what I mean! (I used both, tape and photo glue) You can see the tape already fixed in place.

2. Fix the two cards together as above... see easy. It's already looking like a Z Card! (Note how tidy my bench is!)

3. Chose some backing papers. You can mat them up in layers if you wish, but I just did this very quickly without matting... (Matting different colours does look better though!)
(Replace lid on glue!)

4. Add some backing paper to the front. I made sure they matched up once closed, but if you're using a pattern that doesn't have to match, it doesn't really matter! You can cover all the inside panels if you wish to. If you do, leave the folds clear.

5. Not necessary, but I added some peel-offs next. Then coloured my chosen image, cut it out using a scalloped Nestabilitie and picked out some matching ribbon. I've also cut out some extra pink card (seen here on the left) to fix my image onto. This is just to make it a little stronger and to hide the bleed through from the Promarkers. (Note how messy my bench is already!)

6. Ooops! I forgot to take the photo! But close the card up and then rap the ribbon around it, tying it to one side (right as you look at it) and then using 3D foam pads fix your image, to the left side (as you look at your card) and over the ribbon. (Centrally when closed) . Don't fix it onto both sides otherwise you won't be able to open your card...(who's done that then, I wonder?)

7. Add sentiments inside the card and then loads of embellishments if you want too!
There you go, told you it was easy!! Pop over to Quirk Crafts and join in the Z Card Spring challenge!
8. And here's the link to splitcoaststampers tutorial on a double z fold card. (The right way to do it! With measurements and one piece of card)

Zzzzz Wake Up! It's Quirky Well Spring!!

Hi guys, wakey wakey it's that Quirky time again! And it's officially spring here in the New Forest. (England) I thought it was about time I made my DT card and be on time too! So here it is!
It's Diane's turn to set the theme over on the Quirky Crafts Challenge Blog, and she has decided this fortnightly challenge will be....
First Signs of Spring!
using a
Double Z Fold Card!
So, TWO things for you to think about! For the card makers out there Diane would love you to make a double Z fold card. Splitcoaststampers have a great tutorial and a video to show you how to make the card if you don't already know. For the non-card makers perhaps you can create an exploding box filled with butterflies or snowdrops or a scrap page, which has a secret page that folds out revealing the first signs of spring... naughty rabbits suddenly come to mind!
The challenge this time is sponsored by The Stamping Boutique and they have very kindly offered the winner 5 Digi Stamps of their choice!
I have actually made one of these Z cards before, but didn't know what it was called! (thought I was being clever and making something new! As if!) So I decided to go along with the same idea, using two square cards~(stuck together) as I'm rubbish at measuring, so if you are too, here's a reminder how I did it...here. But I will do another 'How To' in the next post.
The backing paper's I used were a freebie 6x6 paper stack by Kate Knight called Spring Fling with CardMaking & Paper Craft Magazine Feb issue 101. They also came with matching chipboards!
I've used two digital images from our Sponsor, The Stamping Boutique, 'Tulips' and 'Spring' coloured with Promarkers. I recycled the butterfly on the front from something someone sent me, and coloured with a dark red using a Promaker, (it was blue) I've added a Memory-Box swirl, peel off corners, and inside peel off flowers, another butterfly and loads of Stickles Glitter to the flowers on the paper. It's all held closed with some dark pink spotty ribbon from my stash.
Now, this not only makes a nice card this way round, but if you turn it back to front, it also makes another nice card! I've just done this one very quickly, using papers from the same paper stack. You could add sentiments to the side panels and some extra flowers. Two cards for one!
So, that's the Challenge, make a Double Z card with a Spring Theme!

Sneaky Quirky Peek

I haven't done a Quirky Sneak Peek for ages...so here's a peek at my DT card for tomorrow's Challenge that starts round about 6.00 (18:00) Sunday Evening.
Even if you guess one part of the challenge, I doubt very much you'll guess the other part, so you'll just have to pop back later! Since taking these pictures I've added a bit more glitter. You can never have too much glitter!
Thanks for stopping by!

Just A Mo....

Aw, my mojo's been missing these last few days... weeks, months!! So what better than using up some of Mo's digi's I coloured some time back. WOYWW visitors would have spotted this little darling stuck to my wall above my usual crafty-mess. Time to use it I think!
First I printed him out twice, coloured him with Promarkers and then 3D-ed him, fixed the whole thing to the card using silicone glue, after first cutting it out using 'Large Deckled Rectangles' Nestabilities.
Once I found the right paper's, (Forever Friends 'Just For Him' for the garden theme and Cosy Christmas' for the red dots) the whole card came together quite easily! The Swirl is by Memory Box and so that I could fix it over the edge, I've sliced some of the front off the card and replaced it with acetate, hoping this also makes the card not square for a challenge I've found over on Cardmadfairy's Digi Days. The white plastic sticky stuff behind the image is really used for sticking onto loose carpets, rugs, mats, to stop them from slipping, that didn't work... so, rather than throw it away, it now has a place in my craft room! I've used it here thinking it might look like a garden trellis. I've also used it on this card to look like kitchen tiles. The The font used is called Flower Child.  The little Ladybird/Ladybug was fixed to a tiny peg, so I prised it off and used a Quickie Glue pen to fix it to the card. I finished off with some red spotty ribbon, three tiny green gems and a bee charm, because one of the challenges I quite liked was 'Busy Bugs'. Inside I used a Martha Stewart Floral Lace border punch. I was hoping this 'paper lace' might do for Mo's latest challenge too.. but as everyone seems to be using lots of 'prober lace' and little girl images...maybe not, 'real' lace just didn't go with the wellie boots!

This Week's Wednesday Digi (CLOSED)

I knew I'd be late with this week's digi but not this late! No Internet connection since this morning! Hedgie's Windy Day!
Hope you like him. His umbrella's a bit wonky, (It looks a bit like a leaf!) as I ran out of space! I'd love to see anything you make using him! Please leave a comment if you can, I'll try not to delete them all this time! Thank you for stopping by.

Debra's Poem for her mum

Oh no...sorry!

Agh! I'm cracking up! I've just let in a load of spam and then deleted over thirty of your comments by mistake... I'm so sorry if your lovely comments don't appear in the posts below.... I have no idea who they were from or what they said....

WOYWW # 142...

I was going to be very clever, knowing I'd be well late this week, and start my 'What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday', with pictures from earlier in the week, (I know that's cheating) of before I tidied up my craft room and finish up today, with how it looked 'after' I'd waved my magic wand, showing you a very clear and fabulously tidy bench with a few random makes for today's blog hop at Julia's Stamping Ground... but building up to John's mum's funeral, which was yesterday ~I'd like to think I was being optimistic and positive~well, of course that didn't happen. So for once this is my desk now, this moment in time.
We had a good day yesterday if that's the right word, full of very highs and very lows. Thanks to little Pam, who's in her eighties the flowers once again were amazing, June would have loved them. Now I hate to be morbid, no one likes that...so!! In the two pictures above, who can spot the one thing I swapped?
Freebie is going to be a little late this morning, but it will be here. So I'd better go and draw it!
Thanks for stopping by.

So sorry, some of your earlier comments were deleted by mistake... I pressed the wrong button!

Debra's Peom for her Mum...

I thought this was a lovely poem read by Debra ...

God looked around his garden
And found an empty place,
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, 'Peace be Thine'.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn't go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

A Quirky Bit Late For Love, Ribbon and a Charm

The Quirky Crafts Fortnightly Challenge started last Sunday. I couldn't do anything as many of you know I've been way from my craft room for most of the new year. Anyway, I'm home (for now) so I had a go at making my DT card for the latest Challenge...set by Cazzy...
Love Story With Ribbons and a Charm
Now I had a few goes at doing this but for some reason my mojo just wasn't working! So after a Nutella sandwich and about six cups of tea, I came up with this card, using some papers I won a few years ago, Kate Knight's 'A Hint of Pink' from Dovecraft and 'It's Bearly Lov' digi image by Robins Fetish, who are sponsoring the challenge. (was hoping this would fit into their 'Square' challenge but I'm not sure if I'm in time)
The digi image was coloured with Promarkers. I 3D-ed the heart and the bear's paws. For the fiddly bits I used my Fine Tips, which click on over the normal nibs. Most of the red you see round the edges were also coloured with a Cardinal Red Promarker.
The spotty ribbon was in three tiny scraps. I'm quite sure most people would have thrown them away. I've stuck two tiny bits on the card with double sided tape and then covered the join in the middle with the bow fixed on with a dab of silicon glue.
I've left the card blank for the moment, with the intention of changing it at a later date. (I'll wonder if you'll spot it!?!) There's plenty of time to join in with the Quirky Crafts 'Love Story, with Ribbon and Charm' Challenge!

Be My Valentine! From Guess Who!?!

"I Love You This Much!" At Last I've made a card! I've used a 'Me to You' Tatty Ted from a sticker set, fixed onto acetate and a folded strip of card, so he can stand up, on my easel Valentine card made specially for 'him in doors'. John.
I made the usual easel shaped card but then cut the bit that goes on the front in a heart shape and edged all round with red Stickles Glitter to help hide my not so good cutting out!
I've used Sizzix 'Love' 'Heart' and 'Hearts' die cuts.
Who can spy those velvet hearts from Hobby Craft that Tom left behind from making his card! (I love that rose!)
Probably not a very 'manly' card but never mind! I've also used freebie backing papers from Quick Cards Made easy Magazine, which allows me to enter their February Challenge, I hope! You can download the papers here. You may have to login.
I cut out the I Love You This Much sentiment using a small heart shaped punch. The font is also a freebie. It's called Dragline BTN Dm and you can download that HERE, or just Google the name.
On this picture, you can just spot the pink card behind Tatty Ted, holding him slightly off the page. There was a pink spotted bow, but that seems to have fallen off! (trust me to spot that after I've taken the pictures!)
New Follower! Hi and a BIG ((wave)) to AV_H which sounds all very mysterious, from 'Down Memory Lane, who has made a card using one of my digi's! And, I should think, coloured it beautifully in Photo Shop. (I must learn how to do that shading!) There should be another very late 'Quirky' card is on it's way, but my batteries...I mean, my camera's batteries have just bleeped at me! That's it! Thank you for stopping by!

Happy Valentine's Day...From Tom To Emma.

Guess who was in my craft room Sunday evening, busily creating a card for his lovely wife Emma? My son-in-law, Tom. He'd been shopping at Hobby Craft and bought some lovely deep red hearts.... better still the ones he didn't use he left behind!
I sneaked in and took a 'before' picture. (He's a tidy crafter than me!!)
And here it is, Tom's very own Valentine Card, completely designed, cut, folded, glued by his own fair hands...he even took the picture! He's used Hobby Craft Hearts and Flowers, Craft Creations blank card, and heart brads, Embossed Gold card, Photo and silicone glue. (from my stash)
So, where's my card for John, I can hear you say...well, at least one of you... I'll go and take a picture and add it later...ohooo I can see you can hardly wait... Thank you for stopping by. By for now!

Hedgie With His Kite!

Allo allo! Listen very carefully, I shall say this only once... Here's my lastest digi, Hedgie With His Kite, just for you lovely followers who still pop in even though there's not been much crafting going on lately. A little bit different this time. One, it's Saturday and not Wednesday and two... I can't tell you how long he'll be here because as soon as he's had 200 downloads, he'll be gone! (that could take a day, a week or ....actually it took five days...219) Please comment if you can! When he goes into the store he'll look a little different. (Probably that bottom!) Thank you for stopping by!
Sorry You Missed This One.

Let's Fly Away

Enough Doom and Gloom, look what I found sitting out in draft. Nice to find something you'd forgotten all about. The camera batteries went flat after taking just one picture, so it just stayed there. I used some paper from a freebie 6x6 pack, which came from Quick Cards Made Easy Magazine, called 'Let's Fly Away.' I used my own digi. He's only just over an inch and a half tall. I wanted to see how 'small' I could make him before all the black merged, then after making the card, wasn't very happy with it. Not sure I like his bottom! I may re-draw him, what d'you think? Re-do him and put this one up as a freebie??? He may look better bigger! I've 3D-ed him and the kite and used a Memory Box die-cut, 'Elegant Scrollwork'.
New Followers, couldn't find all your links, so hi and a big ((wave)) to Dawn, Nancy Taylor, (now, why does that remind me of Groundhog Day???!) Scrapunzel, Theresa Fredrickson, Jo Anne, and Susan! I'm soooo behind will my blog. (which keeps me sane!)
