At Last !! The Quirky Forum Challenge is here...The new look Challenge starts tonight!! Different, because they have a brand new Design Team (including the one and only Mio! Who?) with fabulous makes for you to go and check out!! Anyone can join in and make whatever takes your fancy! Cards, Scrapbook lay outs, FatPages, Bookmakers, Doorhangers, Altered Art, Atc's Anything!!
So, you could do a bit of embossing, sewing, gilding, something with a texture and a smooth surface. Pop over to the Quirky Forum and find out more and be in with a chance to win some fabby goodies!!! As usual, I couldn't make up my mind what to do! But, needless to say I've had this card in my head for ages. It's a card and an ATC for someone very much into Egyptian things.
First I ripped up two different papers, one that was nice and smooth and glossy looking, and the other which already looked a bit rough and carved. Then I 'aged' the rough paper a bit more, to make it look even older. First I spinkled lemon juice on the torn edges and then burnt it with my heat gun. (great fun!) so in the end it looked old, burnt and crinkly! (Bit like me really...smelt a bit too!) Then I virtually did the same to the ATC card but edged it in gold. I inked and embossed the Pharaoh and coloured him with gell and Sakura pens. I even embossed the brads with gold they were originally blue! I cut and folded the dark blue card, inked it with gold and sprinkled on different thicknesses of gold embossing power and then attacked that with my heat gun too. The papers were then fixed on with photo glue, but I allowed the bottom paper to warp a little and didn't stick down all the edges. I added gold cord with some beads and then another stamped image and some words in Hieroglyphs!
This was a freebie font which you can find here. and here and even here. In fact there's loads of different fonts all with different drawings, but the effect is just the same. Aren't they fun!! Now, I have a little prize for anyone who can tell me what I've typed on my card. But I'm looking at it again...and thinking oops!! There might be a letter missing!! But never mind, you can still work it out!! I loved codes when I was little. I was always making them up. My friend and I had a whole sign language! Anyway, anyone who can tell me what's supposed to be written on my card will win some stamped embossed Images of the Pharaoh along with a few other Egyptian images and papers. Answer by email please!! I'll let you know the answer and who the winner is next Friday!
Go on! Hop over to The Quirky Forum!!!
