Hi guys! Haven't been over to What's On Your Workdesk for a few weeks. Those who visit often will know why. We had another family bereavement, the third this year. My crafty room has been in a real mess for most of that time, so I thought I'd scare myself into tidying it up.... hoping to do a before and after picture...but where to start!?! Well, just in case you can't tell... these are the before pictures-I still haven't gotten around to doing the 'after'.... although you could be mistaken in thinking that this is the after, after the storm! So! There's no excuse, if you have a nice tidy craft room, why not show it off? Hop over to Julia's blog Stamping Ground and join in! There's one thing good that came out of taking these pictures... I can see my reading glasses!!! Oh Joy!

Once you get in there and get started, it will be done in no time...You have to make a mess to fix a mess sometimes...
ReplyDeleteI know i sure do.
Sorry to hear of your losses this year...If is so hard to deal with, isn't it...your craft room can wait...your memories and your family time comes first!
wow so many wonderful goodies :D Great craft space! You usually only show a little portion :D
ReplyDeleteOh Lyn, I'm so sorry to hear you've had another bereavement. It certainly isn't a good year, is it...
ReplyDeleteYour creative space doesn't look messy, it looks busy! I am sure there are other desks a lot messier that would win the messy prize lol!!
Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog. I've finished the art journal page now and uploaded a post about it, if you want to hop back and have a peek!
Happy WOYWW, and I hope things look up for you soon.
Shoshi
Oh how I would love to go bargain hunting in your craft room!
ReplyDeleteThere have been messier desks on WOYWW. I see all kinds of neat stuff and love the buckets that hang on the rails! Never seen anything like that before. Cool way to store markers and pencils and such! Happy WOYWW!
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought that I used every available space in my craft room!!!
ReplyDeleteHow do you find everything???
Sorry to hear your news, thatis hard. Have a creative week...and I would say busy not messy! Trace x 46
ReplyDeleteI am sure your craft room is looking great now Lyn ! Glad you found your glasses hehe

Sorry to hear your news, you really have had it tough this year. Bet you can't wait for 2013. Think my mess from last week may beat yours though...! Take care. Helen, 19
ReplyDeleteClearing up is never a priority in life and I bet when you start and find two inches of space you'll start crafting in it!! Sorry to hear you've had so much loss this year. Hope the latter end improves. Happy WOYWW, hugs Buttons #6
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by - I guess your bereavement is the reason you think Christmas will be difficult for you this year and I'm sorry to hear that. But new life is always uplifting so I hope your new grandchild will help lift you all. I lost my father whilst I was pregnant and had my son on 21st Dec quite some years ago and one of his middle names is now my father's. Hope you find some way to heal. BJ #8
ReplyDeleteSo the moral of this story is: out of chaos comes reading glasses!! Glad you found them!!
ReplyDeleteLyn, I'm SO SORRY to hear about the loss of your dad. I lost my mom with absolutely no warning 12 years ago, and it's excruciating. Time helps, but it still sucks. Keeping you in my thoughts and good wishes.

Wow what a busy playroom. Playroom's aren't supposed to be prissy anyway - looks like you don't do anything ;) hehe, that's my excuse. Take care, *hugs* :0) x
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you had another family loss! Thinking of you...
ReplyDeleteLots of hugs,
Cardarian
Sorry to hear of your bereavements, Hope you find the strength to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get back to what you love doing x But no rush, family comes first x

Glad to see you back Lyn! Sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I think you would lose the messiest room if I had actually posted a picture of my space cause I am in the throes of changing room. Hope you have a great week. Vickie #91
ReplyDeleteYour desk looks busy rather than messy, but isn't it wonderful when we find previously hidden things while tidying up?
ReplyDeleteThe bears @#101
You do have quite a bit of stash...just jump in with both feet and get it done! Sorry you have had so many losses.
ReplyDeleteGlenda #100
Typical Lyn, it looks as if youve had a bomb hitting it, but I do understand if youve not felt like have a clear up, Im so sorry to hear about loosing your dad. hugs Shirleyxxxxx
ReplyDeleteHi Lyn, I am just passing through, no time to play. Wow, you have a lot of space with a lot of stuff, but I don't see the mess, just looks like you have been very busy. Once again I am really sorry to hear your sad news.
ReplyDeleteIf your desk was clean, it would mean you weren't using it, and that would be sad. Sorry about all the losses, hope you are keeping your chin up!
ReplyDeleteHaha, that made me giggle! Maybe I'll try that next time I lose stuff on my desk - happens all the time: I reckon there must be a condition for not being able to put anything back where it should go... Chloe 85
ReplyDeleteNo wonder you keep asking people to swap rooms with you this week! Lovely to see you back, very sorry to hear about your dad though, what a year you've all had, hope you have some peace and quiet for the rest of it.
ReplyDeleteHugs

yes you can have the messy award - but only because i have to tidy up ALL THE TIME now I share my work space with my 'creative director' ( argggh I have to work to deadlines & all sorts)
ReplyDeleteooh talking of Deadlines, it would overwhelm me with grief to suffer loss like you have - then I counted up and thought - ah me too, we just plod on don't we? and I do think the flowers and reflections and peace and everything and especially the art and creativity help...
thank you for sending random love - and right back at you too... dxxx 119 ( ish I think)
Wow you sure have a lot of stuff!!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of your sad bereveaments. One has been enough for me thsi year plus the loss of my little cat. Don't think I could have coped with three!! I can undestand you not wanting to tidy up . Don't worry there is plenty of time for that. For now cope with the more important things , cleaning can wait.
Tricia 105
Wow - what a fantastic space... and it may be full of creative clutter, but it clearly has great organisation - all that amazing storage.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear your year has been so difficult.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Such a hard time.
ReplyDeleteYour not the winner of the messiest space by far! I see more organization there than mess!!
Be well!
xxDaniella#22
This is not messy ....this is just a little untidy ...everything around the edges looks organized ...just shows how bad I am lol.
ReplyDeleteHope you are coping OK ...hugs xx#79
Lynn, so sorry about the losses in your family--big hugs. In the meantime, your craft room looks like a Michaels store! Love it!! Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #13
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of your losses Lyn but I have to say my craft room would give yours a good run for it's money. Honestly! That's why you don't get to see much of it, LOL.
ReplyDeleteHave a good day from Erika. Room 101 this week!
Oh dear, poor you. It looks like a lovely crafty mess though so don't worry about it. Sorry to hear about your sad times lately, hope things get better for you soon. Take care, Karen T 140 x
ReplyDeleteWow stash galore, but once you sort it you'll find things you forgot about, I know, cos I've just had my room sorted, and I found so much stash so am now using it! Take care Zo xx 71
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that most of the time mine would rival yours for messiest - I just don't show mine! I'm going with Twinkle Toes2Day's comment - if it's tidy it looks like you don't do anything! Great mantra to live by! I don't like to waste crafting time by clearing up!
ReplyDeleteYour craft space looks very busy not very messy Lyn and I quite understand you not having the desire to clear up. I'm glad you found your glasses though
ReplyDeleteTake care Jackie x
Hiya Lyn. I am so, so sorry to read about your loss. I lost my dad four years ago and I still think about him everyday. It's like it was only weeks ago. We spent a lot of time together in the months before he died and I remember his last days in lots of detail. I hope that the memories of your own time with your dad will help make things a bit easier for you, but those memories are important. A lot of people will be there for you - but if you feel like having an outpour - I don't mind if you want to get in touch and pop it all in type to me. I'm a very good 'listener' - whether that be proper listening or via email etc... really - I don't mind if you would like to get in touch. I'll be thinking about you and all the emotions you must be feeling right now. The photo you blogged with you in the wheelbarrow was really sweet - it's important to keep stuff like that alive.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, about this 'messiest' prize... Wouldn't you like a nice prize rather than a messy one... now, if you mean prize for the messiest room - well, so far on my hop and skip around the desks/rooms, you are winning by far... (i'm sure that won't be for long though)!!!
Take care, and know that i'm thinking of you.
Big hugs
Paula x x x
I'll come and help you clear up if you like - rather do that than clear mine up!!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you are having such a bad year with bereavements - lose yourself in your crafty space for a while to make you feel a bit better?
Hope life picks up for you soon!

I give you a gold star for your mess! Sorry about so much loss in your family. If bad things really happen in the three's you should be able to relax now. As far as where to start--one little bit at a time.
ReplyDeleteMine usually looks like "before", lol.
ReplyDeleteCazzy x
Yes,I do think you win, hands down...don't get lost in there, we might never find you again! lol waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like an organized mess though! Looks like the only messy areas are the busy areas where you actually do your work. I understand about it being hard to get started and finding where to start. That's the part I have trouble with also too. Mine is much better than it was, but that is only because I've been sewing instead of scrapbooking or cardmaking. I have piled a few things on my desk though; it's just so easy to do! :) Hope you are doing alright and accomplish the things you'd like to... :)
ReplyDeleteGoodness me but you've had one heck of a year...so sorry. As Princess Judy said, that's the three now so hopefully no more, please....
ReplyDeleteAnd you DO win the gold medal for mess, it's astonishing - have fun clearing that lot up!!
Hugs, LLJ #66 xx
I'm in awe of your room. I thought I had a mess but yours is just great. Just think if you spend ages cleaning it up, you won't be able to find anything, so I would leave it as it is, a wonderful very creative space.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Von #45
Hi Lyn and good to see you back on WOYWW. Have been moving my craft stuff from upstairs to downstairs for about 3 weeks now - been a big mess but think I'm getting there and you will too. Just take it easy. Thankks for the digi this week love it. Anne x
ReplyDeleteWow there is so much in there. Looks fairly organised. Good luck with tidying. Sorry for your losses x
ReplyDeleteFamfa 29
I am so sorry for your loss. I would love to come play in your room. You really do look organized...looks like just streighting up to me. If I am close to you, I
ReplyDeleteWould come over in. Heartbeat to give you a hand!
So sorry to hear you've had three family bereavements this year. I hope you will find some comfort in familiar activities, like your crafting. (Since you ask, I do think you might win the award this week. *grin*) Let us know if there's anything we can do for you from afar. A card in the mail? Emails full of kittens or puppies? Pithy quotes from Pinterest? Prayers? All of the above? Happy WOYWW from Laura #155
ReplyDeleteHi Spyder thank you for popping by. I have no wonder you don't know where to begin! I get like that and you just have to clear a little space and then work on making it bigger! It will definitely keep you busy and sometimes you need that when you are feeling down. Sending you a big hug. Belated Happy WOYWW Helen 16
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have everything you need with in close proximity. I know that if you put stuff away...you forget about it... so it's important to have it in you line of vision. Great creative space.
ReplyDeleteooh I can't see messy just a room full of fabulous goodies! What a wonderful place to play! Sorry to hear about your sad news. Thank you for visiting my desk and I hope things brighten up for you. Take care xx #122
ReplyDeleteLooks like such a fun, fun room. Lots of things to play with.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of your losses this year. sending you hugs.

Oops, I just told Shaz over at Silverwolf how I think marketers price up "specialty" stuff like craft containers just because they can, but it was you I meant to tell that to! That'll teach me not to open two windows at once, huh? lol I'm thinking of picking up some more of those bins today, but this time I may spray paint them all pink. Pink is my favorite color! ;) I wish I could come help you sort...you do have lots of fab organization there. No space to craft in at the moment, though, huh? Unless you have joined the 6" club? lol This may sound counterintuitive but I wonder if you don't have a few too many containers? I mean, I've done that thing before where everything gets its own container, labelled too, but then putting things away, each in its own little container, took so much time that I just wouldn't or I would sweep them into big bins to be "sorted" later...which rarely happened! Anyways, I ended up switching to bigger containers where several items of a category(like fabric bows of all colors/patterns) could freely mingle, making clean-up much quicker...just a thought. It took me awhile to realize my organizational system just wasn't working for me but yours could just not be working for you today...so hopefully it'll perk up and snap back into shape again soon and you'll get to craft instead of clean! :) I am so sorry for your losses this year but thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving me a sweet comment. Hope your everyday is better than any yesterday...
