It's the middle of my last month (boo hoo hooo) as a Guest Designer at Bugaboo, which means it's time for my Bugaboo Tutorial. Tammy suggested I redo my 'How To' make a Shaker Card tutorial, adding a Bugaboo Digi to it instead, so here it is! I did try to film this. John was very clever and made a clampy-whatsit-thingy with an old bendy lamp, which he pulled apart and screwed my old camera (That no longer takes pictures but can still film) to it. I had a practice, and filmed me colouring, but decided it would take too long to film my hands making a shaker card. Bit like a naked Sooty and Sweep Show.
To start...Pick a card in the colour you want to use, failing that, cover it with the colour you'd like, and some nice backing paper (Freebie from Bearly Mine Designs). I used photo glue and a strip of double-sided sellotape to do this bit. (The rest is just Photo Glue)Choose what size of frame you'd like to use and cut out a square from some strong cardboard. I used the card from the back of an art pad and covered it with contrasting paper. Bend the paper around the frame before you try glueing it. Snip off the corners so they fold neatly.Add acetate, (mine was cut from what was once a box for cards) to the back of the frame with double-sided sellotape, and then 3D foam strips. If you don't think the 3D tape is thick enough, you can always add another layer.
Choose a picture to go inside your frame. I picked Scene-it-Halloween Peekers from Bugaboo Putting it into Word I added a starry sky (PinkPetticoat) back ground then coloured the digi with Promakers. Cut it out so it will fill the frame then fix it to your card.
Here I've added some (my last tiny bit!) black eyelash wool to the frame and some black ribbon to the card. The ribbon goes round the card through a little snip in the fold and fixes on the inside with tape.
I would do the inside of the card before you add the shaker frame, this will hide any ribbons, cords or brads you may have fixed to the front. If you plan on fixing brads to the front, do this first. If you think about it afterwards, fix the brads to small circles of card and then using a dob of silicone glue stick them to the card.
Add beads or sequins, (If you're making a Christmas card you could use snow flakes or even white flower soft) to the centre of your picture and then carefully fix the frame over them and press down firmly. (Don't sneeze!)Add any embellishments you'd like. Above I've added Lavender Stickles Glitter Glue, later I added gems, flowers, and some purple sparkly elastic cord. And there you have it...
