No Paper? That's gotta be Quirky!

There's another Quirky Craft's Challenge starting over on the Quirky Blog as I type, not really, I typed this, yesterday! after doing my very sneaky peek, as I'm out in the sunshine and doing other things, like, bungee jumping and sky diving... actually no, just dog sitting and gardening... Anyway!! It's now Sunday!! It's our first challenge for July and our 14th Challenge of the year. Our sponsor is... STITCHY BEAR DIGITAL STAMPS which means the design team winner will win a $10 gift voucher to spend in the Stitchy Bear Store.
It's Caro's turn to set the challenge and seeing Caro just louves messing about with inks and stamps she thought it would be a great idea to make...
"...Your own backgrounds!"
This means you are NOT allowed to use any shop bought patterned papers or the ones you can download etc. Your own background papers can be as simple as dry embossed plain card or made using inks, stamps, paints, a mosaic of other plain papers, or anything else you can think of! Okay, what have I done? (well, at the time of typing this, nothing at all! ahhhh!! So your guess is as good as mine!)
So...fast forward to Sunday again.... I started with some green leather look card and using a punched out fish shape as a stencil, I dabbed on clear embossing ink and then clear powder and heat set. Wasn't sure I liked that, so covered one side with... the stuff they use on rugs to stop them from slipping, (only it doesn't work, but makes a great addition to my crafty stash!!) I used the 'The Big One' digi from our sponsors, printed out twice, 3D-ed and coloured with ProMarkers. I don't have any of those fancy inks and dabber thingies but I do have a couple of the Tim Holtz distress inks and a make-up sponge, so this is what I did... after embossing one image and cutting it out with a deckled-edged Nestie, I smudged over it with my make-up sponge (pretty awful but better than nothing!) cut out the second image (minus fish, pocket, and part of the fishing rod reel and fixed it over the top with silicone glue, then attached the whole thing to some black card. Rubbed over a yellow piece of card with the same ink (TH Vintage Photo) and punched out the fish with a Woodware punch. The little dangley chain is a real thingy used in fishing. (very cheep! loads for about £1!) Added card candi and white gel pen faux stitching.
The font is a freebie, it's called Mother Whale and you can download it HERE (along with some other usual fonts!!) or even HERE. Thanks for stopping by!!
