Just thought I'd add this. People are often warned about faulty Christmas Tree lights, or using too many plugs, but look what happened to our Christmas Tree light 'box'. It was a set that changed colour and flickered in different random pattens. Suddenly all the lights in the house dimmed and this set of lights all went out. We had three sets on the tree so may not have noticed if we hadn't been there. Luckily we were and immediately investigated to find the inside of the box had melted!

Thank goodness you were home! Hubby is an electrician and goes on lots of fire jobs, I get so sad to hear about these but very thankful when people aren't injured. Thanks for sharing this and hopefully others will double check their lights as well.
ReplyDeleteSo glad nothing happened and you were in to sort it out I am really weary with tree lights and try not to have them on to long and now you can get some battery ones but they really drink the juice out of em

Such a lucky escape Lyn! We had something similar happen a few years back! I bought a set of flickering lights to put up the staircase in the hallway! We were in the living room & I was on my way to the kitchen when I noticed something wasn't quite right! Another few minutes & the wooden staicase would've been alight! It was already quite scorched in one area! A good warning & reminder to everyone!!!
