The new challenge over on Quirky Craft's Challenge blog has started. It's my turn to set the theme and I have chosen my favourite thing which is, as the title suggests...
Pile It High, Layer It Up and 3D !!
There's some really great 3D crafters out there so I do hope you'll all come and join in! Our sponsors this fortnight are Robyn's Fetish and Digital Delights so we'll have some lovely prizes for our top three! Here's my creation, I've used the Smart Owl from Robin's Fetish.
I started off by layering the blank card with red and black card, then layered up some freebie school words with red and while I was hunting for them I found some number and word papers, which I downloaded from Crafts Beautiful magazine years ago. (2007!) Couldn't fit the numbers paper on this time but thought the toppers (class and notebook tags and the paper ribbon and larger tags) would go well instead. I'll try and find room for the number papers next week.
Inside are some 'appple papers' which I'm sure came from ScrapbookWow round about the same time. I've saved them as TBLA_SourApples_Mini_paper 1 for anyone who wants to know!
For the topper, I printed out four owls, after playing with them in Word adding the yellow square of colour behind one of them, (the yellow you can see behind the Owl was made on the compute) I printed them out and coloured all the owls with ProMarkers and then set about cutting them up! I then curved them by just rubbing them in my palm with my fingers and used Gel glue to fix them all together. . So I have one whole owl on the first layer, the second owl is minus his feet, the tag on his hat and that tiny dot of his glasses, the third layer is the same plus missing a wing, there was a fourth layer (just the head) but decided not to use it.
You can't really see it here but the Owl's glasses are covered with Glossy Accents too.
I then added the ABC and Pencil buttons and the apple brad. The sentiment was made on the computer, it's just a black background (like a blackboard) with the writing done in white.
The font I used is a freebie, it's called 'Airplanes in the nightsky' and you can download it HERE or just Google the name. That's it I think!! Thank you to new followers using the old blog way and the new, hi and a big (((wave))) to Desire Fourie! and Doing Life! Fabulous blog so pop over and see. This week Desire is a guest designer over on Quirky Crafts!
Sorry I'm not blogging as much as I was, my stats have gone down to zilch! from 30 to 300+ oh well never mind~ I've just been soooo busy with other projects! And if I have time I hope to add this to some ...
