It's Just a Little Quirky Number!

Well, it just had to be that title really, didn't it! My turn to set the new challenge over on the Quirk Crafts Challenge blog and I've chosen...
NUMBERS!!
Easy Peezy! It means all you have to use on your crafty creation, is a number or numbers! 25th of December! Happy 99th Birthday! Numbered papers, a shaped Numbers card. A numbers charm. A ticket number, a bingo card. If you can number it, it will fit into the challenge! Pop over and see what the other DT members have done! Here's my tuppence worth! I've used Ridley Birthday with his birthday cup cake from our Sponsors...
I've coloured Ridley with my Promakers. I'm never quite sure if that's a tongue or his teeth in front. In the store it's red...but I'm sure it's supposed to be his teeth! So I've left them white.
I've also 3D-ed him. There's a Ridley on the embossed Nestibilites deckled edged die-cut, (minus a bit of cake and a bit of ear) then there's a whole Ridley and then there's a Ridley without his tail and the top of his head...(ohooo a little bit Silence of the Lambs coming out in that I think...sshhsowooosh)
The papers are from w-w-way back, a small backing paper booklet, which came with a magazine, no links for that I'm afraid but you must have seen the font on commercial cards and other places. It's called Curlz MT and yes, you can download it for free HERE (other sites are available!)
I've also added brads, card candi, ribbon and green and yellow card, which I bought on line years ago and it's still in its bag!
Now, I have a little tip, if you make a card, like this one, which opens from the bottom and you're going to put some thing '
out side' the size of your card, like the sentiment, cut a bit off the card first, so it'll still fit into it's envelope or make a bigger envelope! And!! If you want to take a picture of the inside, take it before you fix the sentiment on the front..otherwise you can't turn it inside out if the sentiment is stuck on the top, like it is here! It reads, "We won't count the candles, we'll just eat the cake! Happy Birthday You Ol' Raccoon!" (for my Bro-in-law I think!)
I've added a few challenges, but blogger is being VERY slow and wouldn't save some of them! I've been out in the sunshine....yep, someone's left the door open and I escaped! Have a Crafty week! Thanks for stopping by! oh...just thought, the font on this bottom card where I've typed in Spyder's Corner, is also a freebie, it's called A Little Pot and you can download it HERE Bye for now!!

Number 12375th Quirky sneak peak!

Nah, I'm fibbing, it's not really my 12375th Quirky sneak peek, I haven't quite done that many! But I was running out of titles, and nobody ever comes to see a sneaky peek, well it is a bit boring, isn't it!?! Out of focus picture of something that might turn into something later. I didn't want to waste a really good title name! (They're hard to think up you know!) Is it a clue to the up and coming challenge starting over on Quirky Craft's later today?? (That's if I've set the timer rightly) Yes it is. Sort of. That's all I'm saying.. but why choose that number??? Because that's how many comments I've had since starting my blog! (apart from the ones I've had to delete!!) unless you want to make it even more!! (thank to every one who does comment, it is very much appreciated! (Apart from Anonymous who has you know what, you know where...for you know how much! I don't mind, they'll never get on the blog and on the bonus side I can now read a few naughty words in Russian and Chinese!)
Well, that's me done til later...when the rest of my creation should appear by magic, round about 6 'o clock, meanwhile I'm starting another adventure seeing I now have more free time!! And why in 'Henry's wet under pants' didn't I start it 25 years ago? I don't know!
New Follower hi and welcome to Ina Cumming, hope there'll be an 'in coming' link very soon!!
Catch you later!

A Mice Birthday!

I've made another birthday easel card for Les (step dad in-law) I made one for him last week but decided...well, Hubby decided, it wasn't very 'Leslie-ish,' what with the snoozing hedgehog, hammock and banners... so I've made a snoozing mouse card instead! (Everyone knows mices are more manly than prickly ol' hedgehogs, because us women just stand on chairs and scream when we see one, but give hedgehogs cat food and beer coz they're cute...maybe not the beer, visions of sloshed hedgies have suddenly come into my mind!)
The colours on this card are a bit more 'manly' too, (greenish and washed out gingham red) rather than twee, red and blue. But what do you make for a guy, and one who's been around for 80 years? Something a bit more grungy or steam-punkish, with clocks and keys and loads of oily looking ink? Yeah...something gadgety, but I haven't anything remotely like that and let's face it, guys don't do cards, do they... unless of course they're called Tim or Paul or Dustin, or Neil or Ollie or Steve or Eric or ...ummm thingy from DoCrafts... anyway!! (It'll come to me in a minute!) ah, Phill...that's the one.
I'm hoping this card will fit into the House Mouse challenge and one or two others.
I've added Buttons, two from John's Aunty Brenda's button box, with added beads ... bows ~a bit of ribbon and a tiny....oh!!! where's my bow gone!!! (In the garden, where I took the flippin' picture I bet!!!....will add that again later...) and bling... umm...well, I've added quite a lot of layers!
(**Back from the garden, it took me ages to find that bow! Half way between the dahlias and the dandelions!! No, I'm not changing all the darn pictures...just the bottom few and between you, me and the gate post, I might take it off again! I mean!?! Are bows manly?!? Yep! Bows go with arrows! anyway...I bet no one notices!)
Papers are Picnic in The Park, from a freebie pack that came with Simply Cards Magazine months ago. First time I've used them, they were still in their packet! (I forget I had them!) **Update! I have used them once before a few months ago here. I might send a pic to Simply Cards too! I've also done some faux stitching with a white gel pen. I've also inked around all the edges with green ink. (£1.50 for two inks, green and blue, and three tiny bug stamps from Tesco's, for the kiddies of course, darn the kiddies, why can't grown-ups have them!)
The stamped House Mouse image was coloured with Promakers, (the one I mentioned losing earlier, I found it! inside a book!! Now, how did it get there?!? and what was the chances of me finding it this side of Christmas!?)
No 3D-ing this time as this image came from Sue and I've only got one left!! and...
The sentiment was done on the computer. The 80 was done in WordArt so I could have it coloured in a shaded green with a black outline.
The font is a freebie, it's called JI Skookumchuck (oh yes it is!) and you can download it HERE
I've used my Martha Stewart cobweb punch (more manly than the lacy one!) I've wired some green glass beads to the buttons, (I usually use a needle and cotton to do this but this time used wire because the beads were too small to threadle onto the needle and wire is sooo much more manly than cotton!) I've added quite a few little brads in green and orange, plus little green gems and tiny waste dots from some really old gold peel-offs... (never throw anything away!) and that's it I guess!!
It all lies flat of course to fit into the normal sized envelope. Ohoo I'm suddenly talking (inside my head) with a Welsh accent, that'll teach me to watch too much Torchwood!! That's it for now, thanks for stopping by!! Catch you again very soon! **Update!! Have won some House Mouse Stamps!!!

Just Another Wednesday...What's on yours?

Just think!! (ouch!) This will be the last Wednesday in nearly 25 years that I have to fly off to 'work', because next week I'll be here, sitting at my desk, doing desky things! I've circled the calender, Friday's my last day, I might not go, **sigh** so maybe next week I'll be able to get around to see you all! (there's a thought!)
Last week started off great with seeing Harry Potter in 3D, if you look closely you'll see my 3D glasses. (Keepsake!...and ready for when I go again!) The 'pine' painted box is still there untouched, and those loos rolls are there somewhere as the little tag book I was going to make using them, sort of didn't get made (yet) ~ there is a card I'm in the middle of doing, but everything suddenly slid towards the floor and I've lost the little House Mouse image I was colouring...it's vanished!! (the mices have meandered off!)
I can't show you the rest of the room, because quite honestly, it's a mess...worse than it is normally. So, if you've not been scared off and would still like to see more crafty places, tidy, full of lovely goodies and yummy craftiness, just pop over to the Stamping Ground and join in...but be warned...it's very addictive! Even my hubby sez, half past four on a Tuesday afternoon, "So? What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday?" (I could smack him!!) He's really hoping I'll tidy up...

Dustin's Animal Mad!

Here's my latest card using a Dustin Pike Digi image, which I'm sure I won some time back in a challenge and have never used! (naughty me!)
I've sort of used, (my image was a little too big to fit, or my card was too small so my second backing paper is a bit longer!) ~ the sketch over on Sweet Stop sketch, Although I've put my eyelash-wool-ribbon under the image, and added buttons and a party squiggle as extras.

I actually printed out the Ark four times and used three of them so I could 3D it by just cutting off different layers and fixing them together with silicone glue.
The rainbow papers are freebies called Splish Splash from way back in March 2009 from Paper Crafts Inspirations Magazine (you get Wellington boots, sentiments,'paper' ribbons and umbrella's etc too)
I wanted clouds and rainbows (get it? rain ark...rainbow???!...I'm not just a pretty face...honest, I'm not!) and I knew I had these papers somewhere on my computer. (Poor thing, if it were a suitcase it would be huge, bulging out at the seams and weigh well over a ton!!)
The paler blue spotty papers I linked the other day (Crafts-On-The-Net) from the 'Simply Home Made Magazine'
I've also used a Woodware scalloped punch, an Xcut scalloped border punch and Nestabilities.
The sentiment I did on the computer. I did it wonky on purpose!
The font is a freebie, it's called You Are What You Eat (yes, it is!) and you can download that here!
New Followers! Hi and a big {{wave}} to Sam and Jeanette and out the back and in the dark, rainbow23, all without blog links, at the moment! That's it for now. Thank you for stopping by.

Happy 80th Birthday, Les...I mean, Happy 96th Monica!

Yay!! Harry Potter in 3D was Fan-Tas-tic!! All the bits they missed out, were either missed out all together or came around in the end and sort of fitted in okay, Great battle, lots of action and special FX. Mind you, look at that dummy's arm on the body Hagrid is carrying near the end... (supposed to be a dead Harry) I wanna go again!!
Anyway, back in the real world!!!
John's 'step' dad is 80 (we think) this week, so I've done a card just in case! I've missed off putting the numbers on until I know for sure. Nothing worse than people thinking you're 80 when you're really only 79! Mind you, Les doesn't look anywhere near that age. (mean younger of course not older!) Okay, I can hear you say, that's not a very 'manly' card, more like one I would have given to my dad, as he always did like the idea of a hammock. I might swap it for a different one... after all... I do have all those football cards going spare, which I made last week!
Penny Black stamped image, coloured with ProMarkers, and 3D-ed. The Papers are freebies. I have already linked them, but if you missed that you'll find the blue spots HERE and the Kites called Summer Fete Issue 88 there (You may have to login as they are Magazine sites) And the font? Yes, that's a freebie too, it has little hearts for full stops and dots, I used a fine tipped pen to colour red. It's called HeartBreaker and you can download it HERE
I made this card with the Penny Black Challenge in mind... and a few others involving animals! Hope I'm not too late!
New Followers Hi and a {{{big wave}}} to Picnic...from Picnic's Pages. which is all 'pants' at the moment! (That's underpants to our American friends, not trousers...) Thank you for following Spyder's Corner!

Also on my bench are some loo rolls...(yes...there are rather a lot of those!) a Harry Potter disc... (I hasten to add, it's not a real disc, I asked Hubby to print a Harry Potter cover onto a disc so I could turn it into a wall hanging or something, it already has holes in it.) ...a box with draws I might paint. (last painted in the 70's with 'pine' paint!) In front of it is a spotty bit of blue paper, part of a 5 pack freebie from Crafts-on-the-net HERE) just click the mag!...you might have to login though) ...cup of cold tea, bits of jigsaw left over from my Sunday card... Apart for all that, it's reasonably tidy (for me!)
So, I'm not here, this is on timer (hoping the morning will whizzzzz by so I can go and see Harry Potter in 3D!! anyone would think I'm about 6!!)
Now, if you want to join in, just wave your wand, jump on your broom stick or just disapparate over to Professor Julia's Stamping Ground, add your link to the port key and join in!

Puzzling Quirky Stuff!

Hello guys! I know, I'm late! You don't want to know why!!(trust me!!) and in any case, I bet you didn't even notice!
Here's my card for the new...
which has already started. It's Cazzy's turn this time round to set the challenge and she has chosen something...
Very Puzzling!
No, I don't mean that I think it's very puzzling, I mean that's the Challenge! Make of it what you will! or better still, pop over to the challenge blog and have a look at what the other DT and GDT's have come up with!! Some fabulous ideas and creations!
This fortnight we have two fabulous sponsors. How cool is that, which means there'll be two prize winners.
who are both supplying us with some lovely prizes!! Digis and ... yes you've guessed, ribbons!! I won some of the crafty ribbons at Easter and they are fabulous!! I'll have to get those pirate ribbons for my Pirate Panda!!
Anyway, back to my crafty project... I've made an easel card and used The Candy Shop digi from The Stamping Boutique, added my own background and a digital puzzle over the top of it, printed this out twice, coloured with ProMarkers, then cut out a few of the jig-saws from one and 3D- ed over the top of the other, I've also added extra faux stitching around the edge of the picture and puzzle piece to match those already on the Candy Store.
I've added my own fence and grass and just cut out bits for the path and tiny punched out flowers with sequin centres.
The sentiment 'Happy Birthday' was done on the computer and coloured green with a leaf Green ProMarker.
The font, is a freebie and was cut out using a Woodware punch. It's called Youngsook BTN and you can download it HERE or just Google the name.
I'd run out of black card, so the black you can see is really pink card coloured black round the edges with a black Promarker. Bet you wouldn't have guessed if I hadn't told you!! All the front additions fold down so the card can lie flat and fit into it's envelope, which a handy, as envelopes are very useful!

Panda The Pirate: Yo ho Ho and a glass of Milk!!

Ahoy there me Hearties!!! Here's a quickie card I made using my Panda Pirate. I think it'll make a great little card for a boy! I drew him a seaside background because he does look as though he's dancing on the sand dunes!
The backing papers are freebies from the PaperCraft Inspiration Magazine. These are available to download! (yippee!) Summer Fete Issue 88 look out for loads of others too.
I've coloured with Promarkers, cut out using a large Nestabilites scalloped circle~Skimmed a slice off the bottom and side of the card so the papers would fit, and so that I could add a shimmer of acetate.
The wavy bit at the side was going to be the bottom of the card but then the clouds would have been the wrong way round! (sshh! no one will notice!) I also drew the skull and cross bones.
The font is a freebie it's called Pieces of Eight. There's hooks, flags and skulls with crossed bones! It comes with that little map that I thought was worth saving and using too and another font Pieces of Eight Alt, which only has a few letters.
In side, I drew the sentiment and coloured over the font with Promarkers then fixed in another Panda Pirate, who is free until midnight next Tuesday!
Make a card using Panda Pirate and if it is featured in my Spyder Has Spyed post coming up later this month, you'll win a digi!!

What's on your WorkDesk, Wednesday?

Good morning all you woywwers! Is it Wednesday already? This is my bench after three cards... Every Tuesday Hubby reminds me and asks What's On Your Workdesk? in his cherpy voice and sometimes very annoyingly asks if I'm going to 'tidy up first' coz he knows I'm always late getting my post ready. He sez he's a blogger widower. They say, if you can't beat them, join them. So he took pictures of his work bench the other week... but chickened out and didn't post it, in fact he hasn't posted for ages.
So, here's my desk this Wednesday, I was looking for something, forgotten what... and here's Hubbies, and he says I'm messy! Ok, I win! After all, his is in the garage...but it's still a work desk of sorts... a very oily one! Note, there's TV remote on his bench...we have a telly in the garage too! (but it's far too small to fit the car into... er... I mean the garage is too small to fit the car into, not the telly...)
Just sign in over on Julia's Stamping Ground and come and join in. It's the only way to see well over a hundred crafty places and one garage! have a great day! Thank you for stopping by!!
