Just Because: Lily-Boo Challenge #2

I'm pretty sure I'm too late for this one! It finishes to day. (Nothing like cutting it close!) A sketch over on the Lily-Boo Too Challenge Blog. I really wanted to do it, mainly because I won the challenge last month (Yay!!!) while I was away, using the fabulous freebie download house. Luckily I'd taken my laptop with me and was able to down load my prize. Some lovely digital images from the Lily-Boo's Boutique!
First I was going to use this months freebie ( a lovely fairy) then it was going to be one of the images I'd won, but at the last minute I had to improvise as I'd grabbed a few things to take with me (while we're away house and dog sitting) but none of the things I'd planned to use were in my bag! So, I used what I had...some Egyptian papers and a King Tut! So! Just because that's all I had with me, this is what I made!
The font is called AlfredDrake, you might already have it, if not it's a freebie and you can download it HERE or even HERE!
The card's nothing like I had in mind, it was going to be blue! but sometimes it can still work out okay. The triangle did it really, it reminded me of a Pyramid and well, the rest is history!

Boo! It's Halloween

Ok, who's bought in treats? I have. Hubby said, why, no one will call in here (we're still dog- sitting! And it's worse than Fort Knox to get in or out) The thing is, of course I know no one's going to come Trick or Treating, I'm not that silly (don't let's vote on that!) But I am a choco-holic and someone's got to eat all the sweeties!! (Mind you, John has had his fair share already! ) This is a picture sent to me by Emma my eldest daughter, by phone, of her and Tom's Halloween Pumpkin. All those years of making her and her little sister cut out pumpkins must have scared her for life! Tonight she's even making...Pumpkin Soup!!

Waterfall Card: CraftsUPrint £1000 Challenge!

*This has now closed *
There are only 2 days left to enter 'The Worlds Largest Ever' Hand Made Greetings Card Competition. The prize is £1000 CASH and the winner will receive it 3 weeks before Christmas.
(I copied that bit! and voice over man was feeling a bit left out...) I'd forgotten all about this. I had an Email from CardsUPrint telling me I only had three days to upload my card to the site! Oho! Panic! What card?? What was I going to do? A second email (Can they read minds? Do walls have ears?) arrived a few minutes later giving me a link to the download I'd chosen! (I can't actually remember doing that. Perhaps I sleep walk!) Anyway, after yelling at the computer for keep going off line and the printer for telling me it was out of ink! and getting into a stewber (spelt wrong) cos I couldn't make the water...fall. (It splashed a bit!) I finally got this card made! and uploaded it to CardsUPrint with only one mistake in my 'how I made this card' write up. Okay~it's a bit like the other baby boy cards I've done but hey! I was in a hurry, day light was fading (Thinking of taking pictures, it gets dark soooo quickly!!)
I'll pop back later with links to freebies, more pictures and things but at the moment we're packing up as we're spending the next two weeks House and Dog sitting...don't worry, I'm taking my laptop with me! (aw shame!) back later....

I'm back...We're now in the dog house...(house and dog sitting,) Just taken them out for their last walkies of the night...it's very dark out there, how are you supposed to find the poop to scoop? (take a torch!) Enough of that! Back to crafty things....The waterfall card came from CraftsUPrint and was 80p, but it was free to do the Challenge. There's still time. You can choose a freedownload, if no one else is doing it for the competition, it will tell you that you can download it or not. (Only one go per email addy) There are other freebies too.
Right, the freebies on this post are the font, and the paper, which I have linked before, so you might already have them but if you missed it... the Font is called Baby Kruffy and you can down load it HERE. The gingham paper, 16 pages of pinks, blues, greens, oranges, lilacs, yellows etc, can be downloaded HERE.
Time for a nice cup of cocoa!! Night night. Thank you for stopping by!

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge #22: Anniversary

I know I shouldn't be doing Anniversary Cards when I'm behind with my Birthday Cards but well, shh! ddn't tell anyone, but the prize on the C.R.A.F.T. Challenge is 6 ProMakers! And I have a really big soft spot for ProMakers! Sorry about the picture quality, no real light in my craft room, and it's dark outside!!
This card started off having blue trim, yep! Blue ribbon and little gems to match the blue on the Popcorn Pyrimage Twister (free a few months back from the Crafter's Companion via a crafty magazine) I was actually hunting for some Forever Friends but only had one driving his car, one in a nappy and another playing with a hammer. Not really suitable for an Anniversary Card!
I folded a plan pearl card and then found some pearl paper the same colour to use as the insert and did the same to that. Before I fixed the insert inside the card I used my new Martha Stewart lace punch to make the filly bit along the edge. (I did try to use it on the actual card but it wouldn't cut, so I had to cut a bit off the front of the card because it left 'teeth' marks!) The only trouble was, when I did the same to the insert, the pattern at the back didn't match the front, so I cut it off and stuck it to the left side of the front of the card, and covered the join with the ribbon. (Are you confused? I'm confused too!) I fixed the Popcorn Pyrimage together (Very easy) after edging it with smoke blue ink and punched out the 'hearts' you can see at the front with my Crafts-Tooyou punch. This is when I realised I'd have to change the blue ribbon to pink, because, well, you can't have a blue heart can you? it had to be pink or red and red, in this case, I thought was too harsh. All I did was scribble a bit of pink, with my pink Copic Pen, on the inside of the insert so you can see the pink through the hearts. Then I decided I needed more pink. So I took a ruler and coloured about half an inch of the inside of the back of the pearl card too. So, there's a tip, you can tint your pearl card with ProMakers or Copic Pens, no need to add strips of coloured card, just colour them with your pens instead! (and they don't bleed through pearl card either!)
The lovely flower is from my jar of Daisy Doodles and is fixed on with silicone glue, everything else is from my stash.
Just time to say hi to a new follower! Hello (((and a Big Wave!!!)to Mandy! From A Sprinkling of Glitter Some lovely cards for you to go hunt out, but you'll have to scroll down a bit because Mandy has some lovely blog candy until the 30th of November! Go on, pop over and join in! See you later!

Scroll down when you get there as there's other Christmas freebie papers too! Hurry cos they may be gone~ although they are still there as I type this!!

A Sophisticated Midnight Challenge

I feel really guilty. (No you don't!) I've eaten all my Chocolate Cookies... and only made one card! But I'm hoping it will do for two challenges. Firstly it was made for the Midnight Madness Weekly Challenge #24 which is a sketch, although I have added a few more bits, I hate having too much 'open space' on a card. And secondly for Sophisticat Challenge #8 No sketch, but a colour combi of pink and brown plus flowers! Well, I think this covers that! There's more flowers on the little envelope and the tiny card too!
Once again, I'm not happy with the way this new camera takes photo's. It hates getting too close to the card even though it has an auto imaging thingy that can detect blinking eyes and smiley faces. probably why it's rubbish at taking pictures of cards! (I do ask them to smile!)
The lighter coloured card was taken outside...obviously, as I don't have bushes growing in my living room! (So you say...) And the orangey picture was taken two minutes later in my craft room. The craft room picture being closer to the real colours I think.
I've used my (new) 'My Minds Eye' papers, and an image from a forum swap. Even though it's only on paper, I've managed to 3D her little bonnet. I've coloured her with ProMakers and Copic pens. The little envelope is just pink Copic scribbled over paper and then punched out with an Envelope and Embossing Woodware punch and the same with the pink paper, the sentiment is typed on. (It's one way to get te colours to match!) The freebie font is called AdineKirnberg-S. You can download AdineKirnberg-Regular HERE and the AdineKirnberg-Script HERE. While you're there check out the Coca Cola type font too!
I've made this card for a friend's birthday, and because her birthday's sooo close to Halloween I usually do something really scary ...I guess I could squash a big hairy spider inside! (oops, sorry Charlotte!)
(Update...I changed my mind, I've now sent this card to Eloise instead! One that didn't need a spider!) and tis one has gone to my sister-in-law

Scaredy Cat!

I just had to pop this little spooky card in quick, as I noticed Penny has a Halloween Challenge, over on Penny's Challenge Blog. I thought I would put in something I'd already done, I have an old Halloween favourite one of the first cards I ever made using backing papers, which I think I've put in most forums galleries but never in a blog challenge, but I'm glad I decided to make a new one! This was soooo much fun to do.
Thank you Angela (she of multi challenges!!) for letting me know about Kaboodles Spooky Challenge I'll pop Scaredy Cat in there too! Hope I'm not too late! Also, in Passion For ProMarkers Challenge this week, you can use any colour, which is great as I don't have many! And they also want to see and animal! So I'm going to pop Scaredy Cat over there as well!
I've just popped over to the Penny Black Saturday Challenge and guess what!!! It's Halloween!! And, after a blog hop I found Polka Doodles who also have a Halloween Challenge! Haha!!! I've found another one!! Over on Cats Corner Challenge 12 is a Halloween card, with a cat!! (I think!) Crumbs I've never done so many Challenges in one go..!(Watch This space! I might add a few more!)
Is my mojo coming back?? I think so! It was the Fox's Chunkie Extremely Chocolatey Chocolate Chip Cookies that tempted it back... (My favourite Bisqwit!!!) I told it, "Mojo, make a card and then you can have a chocolate cookie..." I know it's a little bit the same as the last two cards I've done in design, but if I don't mention it," sez me whispering. "I don't think anyone will notice!
Black card, PinkPetticoat papers inside and out. (I've even papered the back)Penny Black Image from a swap, only he wasn't very 'inky' so I've gone round him with my Letraset pen and coloured him with ProMarker Pens and 3D-ed the pumpkin balloon. The ghost's and the Pussy Cat's words I did myself and the 'Too Cute to Spook' sign is from Summer Driggs 'Fangs For The Memories' freebie download Scrap papers and elements. Lovely site for freebies, if you haven't already found it on my side bar pop over and have a look, don't forget to leave a lovely comment!
The inside 'Happy Haunting' is a freebie Font called Halloween and can be downloaded here
Hopefully, seeing there's still a few Chocolate cookies left, I'll be back very soon!!

Quirky's Recipe Challenge 15

Here it is!
(Sorry, I'm a bit late, I kept thinking the clock in my craft room was the 'old time' and it wasn't!) This wasn't going to be a Christmas Card... but... as you can see, it is! Challenge 15 is Anne's idea. (Chocolate Fudge Cake)
A Recipe Challenge
One ribbon, two shades of pink and three eyelets.
It was lovely but at the same time quite tricky, I kept wanting to print out blue. Just stick a sheet of pink paper on the card, I told myself. I used Pink Petticoat papers, because I knew I'd have loads of different pinks to choose from, but, what I didn't realise is, not all pinks look good together. I made the flowers next, then wrapped the ribbon around the second pink and fixed the bow on with silicone glue. Then before I attached that and the flowers to the card with 3D foam pads I used my Crop-a-Dial (that's pink too!) to fix in the silver eyelets. But I still hadn't decided on an image. I had all sorts spread out across my work bench but none of them would do. I even coloured a few in, but once that happened, the extra colour just didn't look right. So I left the image and decided to add some silver sequins to the flowers to match the eyelets.
Sitting on my laptop were about a dozen 'leaves' in black and white that I'd punched out when I first opened up my new punch. I picked up the white leaves placed them around the flowers and added some Stickles glitter and at once it became a Christmas card, without using any Christmas papers!
When I opened my folder of stamped images, the page fell open, and there at the top were the kissing hedgehogs! Perfect! So I didn't have to add too much colour because the white instantly became snow!
"Merry Kissmas" was done on my laptop in 'rose' rather than pink and the result is...a pink Christmas card! The font is a FREEBIE and is called Honey Script and you can down load it HERE where you'll find two font files, light and semi bold. (Click the pic to make it larger so you can see the font!)
As you can see, the lighting wasn't very good today. The 'blue-ish' picture at the top was actually done outside, where I had to wrestle with the wind! (I won't tell you what the white is, I'll let you guess!) Pop over To the Quirky forum, I know you all love pink, and make whatever tickles your fancy!!

SophistiCat Challenge Card

Saw this lovely sketch over on the SophistiCat Challenge blog and thought, I have to do that and maybe it will help my Mojo return! I can't find it anywhere! Even going through my new papers didn't spark it off. In fact it made it worse, as I didn't want to cut into them and then make really rubbish cards! But, having said that, I did find some papers by PaperMania called Exquisite tucked away. Actually they'd fallen down the back of my shelving and would have been there forever if I hadn't dropped a load of brads all over the floor! Getting down on my hands and knees, with Frog the Cat helping to pick them up, I shone a torch into the darkness and there, still in its bag was the 6x6 packet of papers. Beats finding hairy spiders!!
I used my new Nestabilities 'Classic Scalloped Circles Large', my various sized Woodware punches for the flowers, and my new Martha Stewart punch for the leaves, using the same paper, plus some textured card from 'mat stack BRIGHTS' to give them a bit more body . The little image I got sometime ago from a forum swap. I decoupaged the image, as that was part of the challenge too and also paper pieced her clothing, then coloured the rest of her with ProMarkers and Copic pens and added Stickles Glitter. The 'curly' diecut detail inside and out, was done using a Cuttlebug die-cut and my BigShot. This has gone off to a forum buddy, very very late!! I hope she likes it. I must admit, I'm quite pleased with the out come!

An Inchie Swap.

Not my best Inchies I know, but my mind appears to be blocked with something (a grotty dish cloth, a ball of string or perhaps something hairy found in vacuum cleaner bags...) and I just can't think! These are for a swap. The theme was Autumn. So I did leaves and added Rub ons and glitter. I did a few with trees and clocks and things but used this thick PVA glue and they sort of curled up and died, so they got binned! These aren't very imaginative I know. Most of the card I've used was once shopping bags, y'know the posh type you get from posh shops. Not that I go into posh shops, but people seem to think I like the bags and give them to me. Of course the first time this happen I got quite excited! That's because I thought there was a posh pressy inside the posh bag! Never quite sure what to put on the back of an Inchie, I mean, there's not much room is there! So, if anyone wants to tell me what they do, I'd love to know!!
Update on one of our lovely new followers! Irmina has changed her picture and now has a link!! So please pop over to Doll with a Soul by Nesca. You'll find some amazing little dolls, mermaids, fairies and little Pixies and all sorts of other things, which Irmina makes! A very clever lady! Back tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by!
(Hey that was short! Has she gone?! Sssshh!!! she might come back!)

Happy Hauntings ATC's

Oh it's sooooo good to be back! Sorry it's taking me ages to get into the swing of blogging again, as I'm soooo behind with everything I'm never sure where to start!! First thing I think, is to go on a blog hop and visit all of you!! ((Try not typing so much, no body reads it! Just scroll down to the bottom where it says Freebie font! And Freebie Papers))
My Laptop is still Jet-lagged and keeps going off line for some reason, so I hope I can get this done before it falls to sleep! Just before we left John took everything off my hard drive and put it onto my add-on hard drive so, of course, I can't find anything!
I'm waaaay behind with swaps and forum birthdays cards, (sorry!) but if you're on my list you should have your birthday card very soon, probably in time for next year!! (No change there then!!)
There's nothing like a good scare is there! And these ATC's are nothing like a good scare! (Well, I tried my best!) I started them just before I went away and then finished them over the weekend and today, for a forum swap, or was it a competition? I've forgotten now, and anyway, I'm too late now. Never mind! I think there was supposed to be four but I've done five. (Actually, I've done more than that but I didn't like the others!) They won't be wasted, The Quirky Forum are having an Autumn or Halloween Challenge this week, which I missed because I wasn't here, so I'll pop one of these over there later, don't forget to pop over and enter anything spooky or Autumny that you've made, you might win a prize! And Rainbow Lady's Challenge blog also has a Halloween theme going on too, so I might pop over there later!
I've used a mixture of PinkPetticoat papers from last year (They have some new spooky papers for this year) and a download from Scrap Booking Mad, They have single downloads from about 20p and I think Hocus Pocus was only about £1.20. Look out for their freebies while you're there!
New Added Bit!! The green spider and the purple Boo! background paper are from two sets of Halloween papers called Spooks and Boo from Free Dital Scrapbooking. If you haven't already found this site on my side bar, go take a look! Lots of lovely freebies to downloan!
I've printed some of the papers out in the normal size and others really small so they fitted onto the ATC. (Artist Trading Cards. They are about the size of a playing card and are made only for swapping! and showing off your talent!)
The haunted houses are normally a lot bigger. I've added a bit of Sticklers Glitter to give them a bit of bling and some of the writing has been covered with Sticky-back-plastic to give it a bit of shine.
While we were over in the States visiting Maria, Jesse and new baby grandson Mason, we noticed a lot of the houses over there are made of wood. Actually, where Maria lives in Monroe, they all were! And many of them looked like these haunted houses! It's a bit like driving into an Old Western, only in a car and not on a horse! Nearly every home was decorated with lights, cobwebs, witches, tomb stones and pumpkins. One was completely covered in black shredded bin liners, or maybe they were just trying to gift wrap it!! They can move their houses! We came across a whole town that was being 'moved' as the soil had been contaminated by a train derailment. So one by one the homes were moved back, the soil, cleaned and then the homes, even the hotel, put back! (Only in America!) Halloween is a big market out there. You can buy anything from radio controlled flying bats to Y-fronts! (They were scary!!)
Of course i bought some papers and something that's been on my wish list for the last eigthteen months, some Martha Stewart Punches. The Cobweb, which I've used on 'Spoooooky" (the corner and the edging) A lace punch and a fine fern leaf, which worked out about £6 or £7 each that I didn't think was too bad! The Woodware type punches though, I thought, were a lot dearer.
Another bargin I bought back was 60 12x12 'My Minds Eye' scrap book papers, which were priced just under $25 but were in a sale for well under five English pounds, so I had to have them!
Now the font I've used on these ATC's is of course a Freebie down load. It's called Buffied and you can download it HERE or even HERE
Oh! I mustn't forget our four new followers!! Thank you for joining Spyder's Corner. Irmina Dulniak I have found you Irmina or someone with the same name but so far no real link to where you are! (I love a mystery!) So you'll have to pop in and say Hi! Lottie hasn't a link either but luckily she popped in and said hi! So you can find Lottie over on Lotties or Lotties ATC's where you'll find some fabulous tote bags, some yummy dinners, lovely pictures of all sorts (I love the buttons!) and some excellent ATC's! You'll also find some lovely makes over on Susan's blog too. Pop over to Saramar-dreamkeeper and have a look! And last but not least Carol Ann from Purple Moments (I have a few of them!!) who has some really lovely cards, tags, notebooks and some fabulous altered CDs!
Okay! Back tomorrow or maybe Friday with a few more makes and pictures. Thank you for stopping by!!

Very Late Birthday Card!

I'm being a bit sneaky here, posting this card on 'Monday' when it's really Tuesday, because I was sooo busy doing horrible housey tidying up things on Monday (and going to work) that I couldn't do any posting. I made this card for a forum buddy, one of the many who had a birthday while I was away. I haven't posted it to her yet because...don't laugh, I had to post off some Inchies I did for a forum swap and guess what?? I posted the STAMPS for the cards I had with me, in with the Inchies and didn't have enough money on me to buy more!! So...um Jackie...when you get my Inchies, can you post back my stamps with my swaps?? Of course, there is a possibility I didn't put them in with the Inchies and someone in the post Office has them...I wish I didn't have such a small brain!! I was put off and in a bit of a panicky mood because my car, not being used for the past few weeks, decided to stop in the middle of the road and would not budge! And when I finally got it started again it wouldn't go into gear! It would go into reverse, much to the dismay of the driver behind me! I guess it's paying me back. You see, when I first opened it, a few days after we got back from the States, there was about 4" of rain water covering the floor! Ducks could've moved in! Sigh! Oh well...I guess the inside could've done with a wash!
I've used Pink Petticoat papers, a Dandelion Stamped image, coloured with ProMakers. A Nesties die cut and a Martha Stewart lace punch..(Love it!!) Oho I wonder if I could enter this over on Die Cuts Challenge Blog? What d'think? Worth a try!?! No!! Silly me, it's for Christmas cards this week!! Do you think anyone will notice! I was doing a Christmas a card earlier and still had it on my mind! See, told you I had a small brain!!
Ah! The font! Yes, you're right, it is a freebie! Now what was it called??? Ah yes, it has the unfortunate name of Big Log (?) It looks a bit like a child's hand writing and you can download it HERE
I think there' room for one more picture....Just found this on my daughter's Face Book... Ahh! he's sooo cute, all wrapped in his teddy bear blanket! Baby Mason Rain Taylor! Well, I'm allowed!!

Tom and Emma's Anniversary Card

This is a very quick card, mostly stickers, which isn't really me. It's a bit of a cheat really, isn't it!?! But Emma likes Forever Friends and 'simple' cards... and I don't think I could have done any simpler! It's her and Tom's first Wedding Anniversary to day, so I hope they are having a lovely evening!! I've done this post on the 'timer' because I'm not really here (I'm still in Seattle) so I still can't 'add' any real news...unless of course I can get my hands on a computer or I take mine with me and then, I may've already told you all the news there is and you know all about it, even though as I type this, I still haven't a clue! (That sounded better in my head, but I know what I mean!!) Catch you all soon...take care!

Halloween Y Fronts

Mason's First Shopping Trip

Okay so it's not crafty but this is the first trip baby Mason had in the car with his gran and grandad. A trip out to Babies R Us...only of course the R should be backwards! He looks so cute in his little hat!
