This Weeks Wednesday Digi CLOSED

The pigeons  in our garden have been for ages, trying to make a nest. Stupid birds that pigeons are, they first chose to build it on the shed, where it just slipped off and then, on a very tiny apple tree, (in a pot) and then in the rose bush climbing near the shed. It's a good place they think...near the pond, the apple tree, and the bird table. (For snacks) The sticks and the eggs kept falling to the ground, and Jinxy the Lodger Cat thought it was a good place to sun himself! The Pigeons, have now gone next door.... I've often thought we should be kind and either make or buy a pigeon house for them. Their ideal home, would be in a rose bush that grows apples too. So this weeks freebie is just for them! Thank you for calling by!!
The lovely card was made by Mo, Twinkletoes2day!!

*** We have seen baby pigeons, so they must have been successful somewhere! (The baby pigeons never stay long )

  2. Thanks Lyn. I'm presuming the pigeons didn't pick similar stupid places next door!

    1. No, they have a big lilac tree and a beach tree which are overgrown by a fir tree, so plenty of cover!

    1. I have a feeling the pigeons aren't too worried, they don't seem to 'plan' things like other birds, it's just...oooh quick...I'm going to lay an egg, let's pile some twigs up somewhere...oopps, never mind!

    1. I know... every day...on the fence, making babies, or eggs in their case... the times they fall off the fence it's a wonder, as you say, there are any pigeons at all. Pheasants are pretty brainless too!

  11. Thanks Lyn, for the great freebie. I had to laugh at your pigeon tale and the comments from your followers. I can't believe that Nelson has only had 3 clean-ups!
We're lucky enough to live opposite a small wood area/park where some eagles have nested. They were there last year and raised two little ones, that was quite something to see. :)

    1. I was so sad (must get out more) that I had to go google it! Poor Nelson! and all those pigeons and only had three washes! He was steam cleaned at a cost £420,000, I thought it was more and they'd done it more often!
We had an young Eagle flying a long the south coat of England last year, year before (not something we ever see here) lovely bird!

    2. You're not sad, I google all the time for stuff like that. LOL
Cool to see an eagle over there, I've only seen them in the wild since coming to Canada from the UK.
A pair of owls recently made a nest (of sorts) in a concrete flower-box on the side of an office building close by. They had 3 babies so must have been a good area for them.

  15. I don't think I've ever seen a baby pigeon, but I'm sure they don't just clone themselves, but in the city they seem to, where they subsist on old food in the park; I guess someone has to clean up the mess. Maybe the pigeons in the UK are more classy? I'll have to ask one next time I'm hanging out in the promenade on one of my 6 hour layovers at Heathrow.
