A Crabby Little Spider?

What's this then, any ideas?? No, not the cherry tree...the little bug above that ripening cherry. I thought I'd seen all the bugs in the garden but this very very pale green spider beats me!. It holds it's two pairs of front legs up like a crab. I've checked all my bug books but maybe Google will know!
I'm home now so should be back to normal crafting very soon! Apologies to everyone who hates spiders!

  2. I don't know Lyn - I've never seen anything like it before!! It's odd how it "blends" with the color of the tree leaves!!

  3. HI Lyn, I would say this is a green lynx spider. But, more commonly found in the US. At least you can google that and see if it fits the bill.

  4. I've been informed it's a Flower or Crab spider native to Australia!

  5. oh yes I forgot, it can change it's colour from white through to pale green and yellow to match the flower it's sitting on.It eats butterflies, bugs and bees..even though it's a lot smaller.

  8. We have an animal program in the UK and they had one of these on recently. The presenter was in South Africa and one of these spiders was on the middle of a daisy, it's body colour was the same as the yellow and it wraps it's front legs around what it is on, waits for it's prey and then grabs it with the 2 front legs with such a speed and sinks it's fangs in. Held under UV light the domed crab shaped back end is visible and this attracts bees and wasps towards it who were much bigger than the spider itself. It was quite an awesome little creature to watch....

Can you tell I love animal programs :)
