Three Frogs by the Pond: Penny Black Challenge

Thank Crikey it's Friday!!! Phew! It's been a really long week. Round about Wednesday I was sure it was Friday and convinced myself I could have a lie in the next day..well, half-past six, instead of six, if our cat Frog got her way...and talking of frogs...(clever huh?) I've made this card for the Penny Black Challenge#55 and for once I've made it on time, but knowing me, I've probably muddled the week...aw...never mind.
I took the main picture on the 'Mind Your Own Business' by the pond in your garden. In a way, it was lucky I did. The fish have been fruity all week and when feeling the joys of love and life favour the shallow end of the pond, where, if they're not careful could end up committing hairy scary and find themselves stuck on a flat rock, where the shallow water flows away down a short ditch to a well...(which is really a dustbin where the pump's kept) It's odd. I sometimes get this sudden urge to go and see the fish. And when I get this urge it's usually because one or more are in trouble~either stuck on the rock, the ditch or even the well itself. And this is what happened today. 'The One that Jumps' was stuck on the rock. Are they sending physic messages to me I wonder? Once, the 'feeling' came, and I looked out of the kitchen window to see a love stick frog hopping away with one of the fatter fish tucked under his arm...no, true! Honest! There he was, fish tucked under his arm and me in wellies and a night shirt chasing it round the the edge of the pond, while the poor fish mouthed, "Help me! Help me!" The frog wouldn't let go, any attempt from me to prise the poor fish from his arms was useless. He was convinced he had found himself a wife. For those who like happy endings, yes, the fish was okay...but died a few years later as she kept standing on her head. I have been told that when your gold fish dies, you shouldn't flush it down the loo, you should bury it in the garden and plant an azalea over it for good luck. We have about five azalea's now. Named after the fish. 'The One That Didn't' (Who we bought at the same time as 'The One That Jumps') 'The One Who Couldn't Swim' 'The Black One' 'The One With The Hair-lip' and 'The One The Frog Liked'... formerly known as 'The Fat Fish'.
For the card, I used Pink Petticoat, all but the pink gingham, which was a freebie download from MadAboutCards. (You thought it was ribbon, didn't you! No, it's paper) A Penny Black Stickeroo, fixed onto acetate before attaching it to the card with silicone glue, giving it a bit of a 3D effect. I did a bit of 'stitching' (with my pen) as I thought it looked a bit flat without it. I've made another one of these cards, which I'll post later, using the same sketch, but without the 'stitching'. (Nose wrinkles) Think I like this one better.
Before I go...a warm welcome to a new follower Card Maker, (((wave))) hi Sandra!! Please pop over and have a look through Sandra's lovely blog, where you'll find Cards, ATC's and a peacock! She's doing extremely well, seeing she only started blogging at the beginning of June!! Now, tomorrow is Saturday, and if Frog (the cat) purrs in my ear before seven in the morning...hmmm...I wonder how lucky it is to plant an azalea over a cat?

  10. Hi Lyn
Thank you so much for visiting my Blog, and leaving a lovely message for me. I do appreciate it, and it has given me the opportunity to take a peek at your lovely work. I do like this frog card - it made me smile - love everything about it.
I hope you don't mind me mentioning it, but one of my grandsons (he's 9) is dyslexic, and I do worry about him, but it is so encouraging to see others such as yourself, who have grown up to be very successful and talented. Thank you so much.
    Love, Sylvia xxxx
